I usually write this sort of thing, but I would be hard put to put it better than this astute vlogger. I have been told it is my age or my conservative stand that causes me to see civil war coming, but Tim Pool is half my age, and a Democrat…

I’ve been wondering about this with increasing frequency over the last two and a half years or so. Of course, my question is how do you prepare your family for this sort of thing–without looking like a nutbar in the process?
Lydia, you don’t tell anyone. No one has to know, you don’t have to do anything extraordinary. If you are known as a “prepper”, folks will know where to look in bad times when they didn’t prep.
True–but my main question really is how do you prep for a civil war, whether hot or cold?
Live somewhere where you and the people around you will have each other’s backs. You can get a gun and practice with it, but if you’re living in the middle of people you’d have to defend yourself from, you’re screwed regardless. Other than that there are things you could do that might get you thought of as a little eccentric but not crazy. Walk, jog, bicycle, to get in good physical shape. Get a generator, take a first aid class, do some vegetable/fruit gardening. Learn some manual skills, canning, brewing, sewing, plumbing, etc. Pretty much anything practical that could reduce your reliance on a complex system that might be absent or intermittent.
In that case, guess I’ve done a decent job of starting in on prepping without even realizing it…
Ask the question on the TSL post and you might get Bill’s thoughts on the matter.
Good thought–I’ll do that.
Haven’t had a chance to watch this yet, but I’ve been worrying about CWII since the early 90’s. Everybody, both sides, thought I was nuts then.
I am around your age and I think this is very real. Whether Trump wins or not the flash point will be different but at this point the gap between sides is wide, people’s respect for each other and human life in general in the US is very low and the media keep fueling the fire.
