Ingraham had a small focus group (moderated by Raymond Arroyo) that revealed a few interesting points. 1. Both of Biden’s declared supporters were young. The male supporter claimed he thought Biden was the one with “more energy,” while the female one criticized shutdowns because of how they have negatively affected people in her own family (though she didn’t state that she was considering voting for Trump over it). 2. The Trump supporters were as disgusted as everyone else. 3. The “undecided” people weren’t moved to vote for either candidate: “a pox on both your houses.”

Dan Bongino suggested (in another segment on Fox News) that this isn’t an election that’s going to hinge on “undecided” voters: it’s a base election. And in this debate, Trump didn’t lose any base voters, while Biden may have lost some base voters (by disavowing the Green New Deal, refusing to pledge to pack the Supreme Court, etc.). So the question isn’t how this debate affected “undecided” voters (who, if the focus group above is any indication might stay home), but how much Trump’s base has grown since the 2016 election.

The enthusiasm gap seems also to have grown since 2016.

Trump did what he needed to do. He wont lose one MAGA member. He doesn’t have or need the independents to switch to him if MAGA gets out and more walk away from the DNC.
Independents are four things in the USA: libertarians in surveys that don’t list the party or states that don’t have them on the ballot; anarchists that reject the process of representative democracy but are on the voting rolls so the left can’t use their names in bogus votes; other leftists that don’t support the DNC; a large number of people that say they are likely voters but do not support any party. No first debate question can move them.
Biden looked old. The split in the democrat party was highlighted. The talking heads in the MSM want to call off the future debates so they think it went badly.
Trump has two more debates where he can give a softer more optimistic pitch, perhaps with a few points to get all four groups above. I don’t think Biden can call off the next two debates. Trump can switch to debating Jo Jorgensen of the Libertarian party if Biden goes into hiding.

Last night I wandered over to twitter (after the debate) and there was a video tweet of someone putting a wire under Biden’s shirt. Telling him exactly what to say I’m sure. The left will cheat any way they can. VOTE TRUMP 2020 and save our Great Nation!!

Once again, the so called Republican Elite caved to the demented left and turned a night that was to be a debate into a total train wreck. One cannot present a coherent idea in two minutes and defend it in five totally interrupted minutes. The moderator demonstrated his total bias by preventing any substantial discussion of any important idea for the entire 90 minutes.

Biden spouted nothing but leftist (MSM) totally discreated talking points. The so called moderator let Biden run and tried to prevent Trump from pointing out his accomplishments of less than four years compared to Biden’s non accomplishments of 47 years in government. Talk is cheep and empty talk costly especially if you take it for anything but an empty word salad. The only valid question for Biden to answer was “Do you want ranch, thousand island, or Italian dressing for your salad?”

Biden pretended to hold it together. I suggest that it is likely that the moderator had actually fed Biden the questions many weeks before the so called debate. That is the only way Biden could pretend to answer the questions without really answering them.

The contest is between 4 years of solid accomplishments in the recovery of our republic or 47 years of words without meaning or action apart from family and self aggrandizement.
I am convinced that the so-called elite of both the Republican and Democratic parties need to be sent packing. Never to be heard from again. It is either that or what is left of America will cease to exist. The name will persist but the spirit will be dead.
I am still voting for Trump 2020!

I watched this hoping for the Biden collapse so many expected. That’s the only reason I watched. These sorts of things – debates, press conferences, TV interviews, etc – are a complete waste of my time without a specific motivation like that.

I have spent a lifetime developing a world view that I use to guide myself. It’s based on serious study of every relevant subject – philosophy, ethics, politics, economics, history, science, and more. It’s comprehensive, with extraordinarily deep roots, soaring branches, and glittering leaves. I abhor shallow bickering like this debate was and all those things I mentioned above are. I abhor shallow people. I abhor those who don’t work hard to examine the world and their own lives, who let whatever is floating about in the intellectual breeze dictate their every thought.

I feel dirty having watched tonight’s spectacle. I want to wash the whole thing out of my mind. I don’t want some utopian world that has no relation to reality like far too many on all political sides do, I want a real world where thoughtful people live rationally in the universe that actually exists. Tonight proved to me, yet again, that I might be the only person who wants such a world.

It’s a lonely existence. Good night.

Not the only brother. I understand your frustration completely. I couldn’t tell you how often I look around and just wonder “who still uses their brain?” “who still uses their eyes?” It’s hard to look up at the sky and see that it is blue while everyone else believes it is orange because that is what they’re told. Too many people avoid deep or difficult thinking because it is so much easier not to. I have never understood the mindset but there it is. Don’t give up hope. Always carry the torch. Take care. There’s always tomorrow.

I should’ve waited for the highlights reel. I’m sure the Trump campaign will put out a few. Not to mention the rest of the internet. These things are always so disappointing. I’ll have to watch a couple of press briefings with McEnany to make me feel better.

Yup. She does the trick. Ya gotta love strong women! That’s why my wife has been able to tolerate me for more than 25 years.

Wallace is really trying, but he’s showing his left-leaning bias.
The question about ” will you disavow right-wing racists and white supremacists who are causing the violence?” really pissed me off.

Yet Trump did exactly that. As he always has. And it will be ignored or twisted into its opposite.

It’s not even that. the right aren’t the ones making violence! It’s the left’s shock troops, anitfa and BLM

Yes, that one really got me. These are not debates. Not debates as I recall. This was set up to make Biden look competent and Trump look annoyed. Ok, Chris Wallace succeeded at doing both. I did not watch the entire thing. I was actually in a business zoom meeting , doing commerce, helping to improve the economy, employing Americans.
However, after I log off from BWDC, I’m heading over to Vodkapundit to read what happened. It’ll be much more fun, even if PJ Media won’t flip the text and I have to read going back in time.

The difference is completely lost on those who generally support “mail-in voting”, which is not by request of the voter. There are too many uneducated fools in our country.

I stopped after 5 minutes of the drivel and wishing Scott Ott God’s blessing of sanity. He is “taking one for the team” after all.

If you’ve never tried it, I recommend Mezcal. It’s what tequila wants to be when it grows up. An excellent drink. 🙂

I’m almost in physical pain watching this. My pre-debate wine has worn off. There are no statesmen left. None. No one is able to think any more. This has been an angering and wearying experience. Urgh.

Biden hasn’t fallen apart. That’s all he needed to do. Trump attacked but not hard enough and he didn’t shut up to let Biden hang himself. We needed a “There you go again” moment and didn’t get it.

All Trump needed to do was wear an “I’m with Stupid” t-shirt with a finger pointing leftward, and then he could have just let the brainless Biden ramble on and on and on …
Sigh. Too bad my suggestions are always lost in the ether of anonymity.

Too many would have listened to Biden and nodded while saying, “Yes, he’s right.” Because they’re idiots who can’t think. These people need to be opposed, strongly.

Yes. You are correct. However, the strong opposition needed to be more substantive and less reactive. IMNHO.

I thought about it, but I thought it would be too chaotic. Turns out I was right, but Zoom is not the problem .

The only way to answer critical race theory is with facts and reason. Almost no one remains who can do that. That’s why people are out in the streets – they don’t understand anything.

They were both looking at Wallace while he was talking and they were both looking towards the edge of the screen, not the center. So of Trump is stage right, C-Span must have some strange camera angles.

Biden was avoiding eye contact with the President for most of the debate, looking to his left.

This is pointless. There’s no debate going on here. No content, only an exchange of barbs. Nothing is going to be resolved here unless Biden’s drugs wear off.

When was the last time a candidate spoke about principles? The fact is that the government has no authority to be involved in the health care, or any other private, business. Neither will mention this.

I am amazed with folks like yourself. I cannot bear to watch such mindless drivel. God bless you with sanity.

My apologies for not coming during the action. Between watching, talking to my lovely wife, reading Steve’s drunkblog and texting my daughter I did not have enough bandwidth.
