Passion for Politics Meets the Story of Christmas

Why do you even care about politics — a distant enterprise, operated by people you don’t really know, arguing about things that often don’t even impact you? The passion for politics, that inner drive that keeps you on fire with emotion, has a reason.

Why do you even care about politics — a distant enterprise, operated by people you don’t really know, arguing about things that often don’t even impact you? The passion for politics, that inner drive that keeps you on fire with emotion, has a reason. Scott Ott has a theory that ties your desire for good governance to the story of Christmas.

Each individuAl MUST battle the GOOD vs. the EVIL within all the time. Jordan Peterson has talked often about the battle between Oder & Chaos where we MUST walk the line between both.

The EVIL or more benign word Bad Path is ALWAYS the easy, effortless and MOST timely to take. There is no Responsibility or Accountability for the individual. In addition, the jump into Victimhood is directly in front of the individual and its engagement at first is a Gain BUT down the road the Pain and Suffering will come and come as a Tsunami.

Individuals gladly relinquish their Freedom for Safety and Security. This is a mirage of epic portions.

THE real threat is ALWAYS internal and not external. Good people will create GOOD everything.

Well spoken guys… especially Scott…. But, if memory serves me correctly, at one time there was “perfect governance” but men told God that they wanted something else…. then came Judges then Kings and it’s been going down hill ever since (until the return)….. I do sincerely believe that there are those who can and would govern well, but as Scott said, we all fall short and are generally unreliable… Hope all had a wonderful and blessed Christmas and best wishes to all for the New Year !!

Thank you so much for such a beautiful Christmas message. It was so precious to hear how each of the three of you look at your involvement in this enterprise and why you give so much time and effort to it. And like Scott I long for the day when the Prince of Peace shall reign and the government will be upon His shoulders. However, in a parable Jesus taught us to “occupy until He comes”. I don’t believe that means just to sit around like you’re saving a seat for someone at the movies. We have to be actively involved: voting, giving to charity, speaking up when the opportunity arises, writing to our representatives to convince them to write up, vote for, and pass legislation that will benefit our nation and its people, and being in prayer for our leaders.

Steve, any more it seems that your sons will need to study politics as well, since the opposition will continue to use politics as a method of war by other means.

“You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.” Same for culture and politics.

Great episode – Merry Christmas to you and yours!

The way I summarize it is to imagine (if you will) a Venn diagram – most progressives and much of America would make a large circle and name it Government, and then within it put a slightly smaller circle and name it culture or society or whatever, the point being that they see government as the biggest deal.

I would make a big circle and name it society and then within that make a circle about a twentieth of the size and name it government. (In simple math terms — Government != Society.) Or stated yet another way “just because something should be done, doesn’t mean that government should do it.”

Hey guys, Merry Christmas. And thank you for coming into work on Christmas Eve. I’m sitting around alone on Xmas morn waiting till it’s time to drive to Dallas. It’s great to be able to hang w/ you folks.
