The historic deal was brokered during a call between leaders of the two nations and President Trump.

According to a White House statement, in the coming weeks the UAE and Israel will “sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies and other areas of mutual benefit.

Scott Ott asks Bill Whittle if this the M.O.A.D. (Mother of All Deals) or ‘hunker buster’ that has eluded previous administrations? Even Joe Biden calls it an historic breakthrough.

Just listened to an excellent analysis by Moti Kedar on this topic … according to him, the big difference between this agreement and the previous cold peace agreements with Jordan and Egypt is the focus on normalization immediately and really is bringing a previous clandestine relationship (including coordinating landing a corona mercy flight to the Palestinians which the PA then refused) to the light… and hopefully will bring others that had been dormant since the ’93/94 euphoric period of economic contacts until the intifada of 2000 which signalled the resumption of “war” with the Jewish state.

Well, I have a bit of a different take on the whole thing. Obviously, on paper, peace is wonderful. But of course the devil is in the details. So, if Israel does not annex certain parts of Samaria and Judea such as the city of Hebron (the resting place of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob, Leah), then they get the theoretical bragging rights of having an Arab country that they were not at war with, say that they want to be at peace with Israel. Another land for peace deal in essence which has never worked out well for Israel in the past. Certainly the Israeli people in the so-called settlements feel betrayed by this. UAE (sunni) gets tangible enhanced tech to bolster itself against Iran(Shia).

Bt/w, Bill, Biden also went on to say that the only reason that Trump could accomplish this was because of the groundwork that he and Obama had laid previously. So, he’s not so saint like.

Oh, and UAE is not recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. They have stated that if they open an embassy, it would be in Tel Aviv.

As we now recall, it was Reagan who said something to the effect that there is no limit to what you can do as long as you don’t worry about who gets the credit.
I endorse all of the skeptical remarks made so far. Clearly any case involving Muslim believers in the Ideology of Islam requires a “trust but verify” approach. I am confident that Mr. Netanyahu will maintain this posture but it is not certain that a largish fraction of the Israeli populace will also stay as cynical as they should. Their socialistic/left leaning sympathies swing back and forth.

If Turkey and Iran are speaking with one voice it’s time to re-evaluate Turkey’s membership in NATO, all of our economic interactions with Turkey, and take a very careful look at how close Turkey is walking in lockstep with Tehran.

If Erdogan wants to play up to his fundamentalist, anti-Semetic Muslim base he’s undoing all the work that Atatürk did to civilize and create the prosperity and power of modern Turkey. If that’s what he wants to do he can do it without the help and support of the United States of America.

If Erdogan wants to take Turkey back to the dark ages and join the losing team, we should not make it easy for him to do so.

Bill, that was the real Sean Oko Lennon (son of John and Yoko) whose tweet you quoted. While he is not a conservative, he has been a scathing critic of woke hypocrisy and the cancel culture. I enjoy his Twitter feed.

I’m not going to hold my breath on this one as I don’t look good in blue. BUT… if Obama can garner a Nobel Peace Prize just for breathing, Trump should get 3 prizes for this move – no matter how temporary it turns out to be.

Islam the national religion of the UAE, and that makes this whole deal one that is constructed with playing cards on sand. The duality of that cult allows its adherents to justify all manner of deceit to achieve their own political and religious ends — including the annihilation of Israel. It is very likely that Israel will maintain a firm grip on its big sticks as it walks softly through the minefield of this “deal.”
Peace in the Middle East is an admirable goal, but history reminds us that such dreams remain fruitless. We must remain vigilant against the evils of the world, including Islam.
