Absolute power can only corrupt absolutely those who could only preserve what they have by it, those who value power over what they have acquired by its means. The ruthless and the incompetent cling to it because their way of life depends on it.
Absolute power can never corrupt the righteous, because they never would hold on to it. They know that they are more efficient by delegating power to those who specialize over what they have been granted authority. And this is the origin of Community. Where there is the blacksmith, the Baker, the priest, the shepherd, the farmer, the the mayor, the law, historian and lawyer. I know bill knocks on this word, but it should be better understood.

What the f***, Kevin! here. Obvious language alert. Hilarious!

I heard one comedian describe the American Spirit: The French have spent centuries perfecting the croissant. One American decided to add an egg & a slice of cheese and let the Burger King sell millions everyday at the drive up window.
Observation from watching American Factory (Netflix documentary about a Chinese company revitalizing an Ohio town by reworking a defunct factory to produce auto glass): American workers go to work in customized hard hats, colorful clothes, and chatting with co-workers; Chinese workers wear precisely the same attire and speak to no one. Which would you choose?
America’s creative rebel spirit must not be quashed. Don’t let Prometheus smother.
Thanks friends. Thanks BW.

“The Croissant” was part of a skit Denis Leary did on No Cure for Cancer in the early 90s, Talking about why the French hate us was how we took their precious croissant, stuck a cheeseburger in it and called it a Croissandwich. The whole album is pretty good, for that matter

I wonder why so many of us Conservatives are die-hard, serious Science Fiction fans? I see people making references in here spanning the gamut from Karel Čapek to Heinlein, Asimov, ERB, Bradbury and many, many more.

We’re the ones willing to bang rocks together until we manage to make a fire on purpose. Observe, think, then act. The rational steps of a fully functional adult.
Like your avatar BTW.

Because we look towards a future that aspires to greatness for everyone. Not one that has a few elites and billions of peons.

Happy Anniversary to you both. Great message and video. I do not share your optimism that we are going to come out of this but I agree with your solution of citizens seizing this nation back from those seeking to dismantle it.

Just paid for an annual membership with part my $600 government slave wage, so now BillWhittle.com is Government Subsidized. I will sow every dragons tooth they give me into the soil to grow the army of ideas.

Not enough bleach in the world to sanitize it. Best convert to something more useful, like bubblegum.

One of the things about Bill that truly amazes me is that these episodes, and BWNow and TSL, are not scripted. He has the ability to speak extemporaneously for an hour on a subject and make it seem effortless.
I think Bill could do what Rush has done for years.

You talking about the RUD, Rapid Unplanned Disassembly. I love that term. The next automobile accident I see, I’ll call it a Rapid Unplanned Reconfiguration, Lol

Well, that works out to R.U.R., a nice reference given the Boston Dynamics clip.
(Cf. the story by Karel Čapek.)

Ronson’s Universal Robots, if I recall correctly (and, yes, I am too lazy to double check via the interwebs….)

That’s for the next test. FWIW it looked like not all engines restarted. So it may be a pretty simple fix that they probably had solved by the next morning.
