Farmers castrate most young boars because if they don’t the meat will suffer from “boar taint.” But this episode of Right Angle is more about law than bacon.

Scott’s on the money. Considering that PETA’s position is we shouldn’t even own pets, much less eat meat, this seems like a very odd case to take up. The welfare of the animals is clearly not their main concern.
Although PETA has come out in a small way against Halal slaughter in the past you’d think that on the cusp of 2020 it would be their main focus in Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the UK. Way above piglet castration anyway.
Interesting note on animals and the law. In medieval Europe it wasn’t unusual for animals to be charged and brought into court. See the excellent 1993 film The Hour of the Pig (US title, The Advocate). Donald Pleasance’s last film by the way.

Those pigs aren’t pets, they’re FOOD. In Korea, dogs aren’t pets either, they’re FOOD! People aren’t animals, they’re humans and have dominion over all other animals, unless you’re a godless heathen. This is just an extension of animal cruelty laws. ASPCA and PETA are banking on snowflake animal lovers, vegans and the like being deluded by their own self-righteousness.
I cannot believe all three of you made it through this episode without 1 reference to Animal Farm.
I think Trump should tweet out “Boar-Taint” at 3 am one night and see what the media makes out of it. 😀

1: Ban bacon!?! Thems fighting words! To the death! …. mmmmm. Bacon. Wrapped in bacon. In a bacon bowl. With bacon bits. Drizzled with bacon fat. 2: Steve, my wife and I have four rescue dogs. We just found out our only male, the sweetest thing ever, has cancer. To have any chance to live, his right rear leg has to be amputated, and that is not a guarantee. I’m tearing up just thinking about it.
So sorry about your fur baby. Whatever you decide, he knows he was loved.

To use a “progressive” argument, how can a member of pita object to castration when they themselves have not experienced it? They don’t know if it causes or reduces suffering. They are simply anthropomorphizing pigs. Pigs are pigs. They are not four footed humans and as such have no human rights.
I agree with Steve, pita can go to hell and pay for the trip out of their own pockets.
