From here I will be posting about specific topics.
===Abortion:
If a fetus has a heart beat on its own. That is a separate life. Dependent, yes, but a distinct and separate life. (That life is going to be dependent for at least 18 years. Dependency does not suddenly make it less than alive.)
I am quite torn by this issue because I know the damage that is done to a family with an unexpected child. But, that is not the child’s fault, and a death sentence for the choice of another is crazy.
Before I knew better I used to be pro-choice. Besides a woman has a right to control her own body right?
WRONG. If the fetus has a heartbeat it is alive and separate (and yes dependent)
The only compromise that I would be willing to accept is this.
A woman desires an abortion. OK, Fine. As a requirement that woman must agree to have her ovaries removed (she can have the eggs frozen if she desires but not at the expense of the state). Taking a life is not something you should do lightly and if you do, I think you should also give up the ability to have more children. If later in life that woman wants a child, she can adopt or have a surrogate. The key here is you don’t get to keep making life and destroy it at your whim.
To me this is a key issue for virtually every other right. If you cannot respect and value LIFE… then what meaning can liberty have? If you cannot value, the life of an innocent unborn how can you have respect for anything at all? Let alone be civilized?
To me this is not simply a moral issue. It is a rights issue. The instant you make exceptions for who IS and IS NOT eligible for protection, that is the start down the wrong path.
BTW Rape in my mind is an exception. and that choice is one that only the victim can make.
But let me be clear on this. If a woman claims rape when there was not one, in order to get a free pass and it has been proven. She should be charged with 1st degree Murder & whatever other crimes involved in filing a false report against the man. That man should then be compensated with any assets the woman has. This is a serious matter and I believe the woman should lose everything.
I am also well aware of the argument “you only care about it when it is in the womb. Once it is born you stop caring about it.”
Actually, NO!
I don’t want to see you killed either! But that doesn’t mean I am responsible for your dumb ass

I allow no exceptions. Not even rape. Many people who were conceived in rape are wonderful people, and I would not want to deprive the world of them. Yes, being forced (by the rapist) to go through pregnancy is terrible, but two wrongs do not make a right. Rape does not justify murder. Just tack the pain and inconvenience of pregnancy onto the rapist’s sentence, and make him pay child support if the woman decides not to put her child up for adoption.
And the reason I say no exceptions even for “health of the mother” is because abortion is by definition is the act of killing the baby. That does not help the mother at all, and in fact many abortion methods are dangerous to the health of the mother. If they have to induce pregnancy early or do a c-section in order to protect the mother’s life AND they do everything possible to save the child’s life, I am fine with that. I just will not allow the intentional act of ending the baby’s life. And there is NO excuse for partial birth abortion. That baby has already made it most of the way out and is of no danger or inconvenience to the mother anymore.
I draw the line at conception. No other line seems concrete or valid to me. Even the heartbeat is arbitrary.
