The constitution states “Arms” not “just” guns.
Every citizen has a right to own and carry any weapon they deem sufficient to help with their personal safety & the safety of their community.
That means: knives, swords, clubs, pistols, rifles, cannons, tasers Light sabers etc.
That also means there is no restrictions on HOW they carry arms. Whether concealed or otherwise, on their person or their vehicle. On their hip, jacket, boot, or up their ass (that last option is inadvisable)
Don’t get me wrong. This is not an excuse to use these things to help facilitate a crime.
(after all we don’t restrict the use of cars because someone uses it to facilitate theft, or to run people over)
A citizen should be just as well armed as any foot soldier. And should be unfettered on where they can carry.
If a person has a lawful right to be someplace that person should no more be barred from being armed as he is with choosing what color clothing to wear.
None of this is to be construed as a right to be irresponsible.
I also think schools should have firearm education classes available as an elective course much the same way driver’s education is provided.
Hell…. Include it in a general safety course would be even better. Students should know it is not a good idea to stick a fork in an electrical outlet, or charge their phone in a shower. Nor mix cleaners with bleach and ammonia…. and devices with spinning anything must be handled with care.

You, my friend, are very libertarian. Good luck convincing the rest of the country.
Excellent commentary!
An added note on schools. There should be a few designated teachers who have firearms training and have a firearm kept in a safe yet easily accessible place including a sign on the school stating that fact. A “no guns allowed” sign is like a bee to honey to people that are unhinged, to begin with. Having armed security care too would be a plus. Sadly, schools are considered a “soft target” and it is sad we are at the point when these issues have to be discussed.
Schools are posted as gunfree zones. That is indeed what causes them to be preferred “soft targets”.
Gov. DeSantis of Florida did sign a Bill into law ,friday.
A number of educators will now be trained (many hours) and placed in classrooms. This is a voluntary program and the delegates will also undergo psychological testing.
It wasn’t clear through reporting if firearms will be secured in safes or concealed carry. I hope it’s concealed carry. Too much time required to obtain the firearm, when seconds count.
Absolutely. A person has a constitutional right to own, carry, deploy, and operate any weapon or weapon system they can afford. We haven’t had that authority since 1934.
Funny that you should mention the definition of “arms” as a legal term. It does indeed include everything considered a weapon.
