I have revised this section many many times.
Going on an on about the flaws of the current system and seemingly interjecting what I think what would be better. My writing just came across as a disjointed jumbled up mess. The current tax system is a complete convoluted “Clusterfuck”, created by inept representatives, writing laws about subject matter they have no experience in. The Tax system needs a complete overhaul.
What I mean by complete overhaul is toss out virtually every single tax ,and reduce it to only the areas we reside. Meaning Everyone pays the same tax rate. The federal Government set its tax rate for Businesses and a different rate for persons. The State Government & the City/Township likewise.
Having a consumption tax seems to avoid most of the pitfalls of our current system(s) as long as no one is exempt. It specifically avoids governments having to go after individuals and can dedicate resources to making sure businesses are compliant.
The rate of tax should be something that gets voted on.
In the case of Federal taxes it should be voted on by congress. State taxes voted on by the state legislature and so on, down to the local city tax. The tax rate should be up for a vote every 2 years. If the government cannot convince the public to vote for the rate they desire, the rate defaults to 1%.
Of course taxes is only a part of the equation. Government spending is another crucial part but a subject for another time.
One reply on “Political beliefs (Taxes – In General)”
Government spending is THE problem.
