Post Your TSL Question Here to Proclaim: “Notice Me Senpai!”

Bill Whittle is back in the cockpit again tonight for another adventure in The Stratosphere Lounge. Here’s your chance to ask that burning question which has mystified the great philosophers from time immemorial, or merely perplexed the knuckleheads at CNN 24/7.

If you like a question you read in the comments below, hit that LIKE icon to indicate you’re trying to pressure Bill to field that question.

The Stratosphere Lounge is slated to go live before a global audience Thursday night at 9 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific. Nevertheless, we reserve the right to keep Bill quarantined, in which case your evergreen question may show up in a future episode…or never. We thank you for your understanding.

The Stratosphere Lounge Question Thread: Post your question here for tonight's live session.

I took a course in Philosophy & SF decades ago. Taught by Justin Leiber, Fritz’s son, and I don’t think any of those authors were included then either.

Hey Senpai! Have you read these authors? What do you think of them?
Ambrose Bierce
Mark Twain
Robert Heinlein
Ayn Rand
Lord Tennyson
H.P. Lovecraft
Orson Scott Card
George Orwell
Aldous Huxley

I’m working on the meat of this thing I’m writing and I really don’t know which direction I’m wanting to take. Any questions I may or may not ask here in the next few episodes will be centered around the general area I’m working in and around. Just as you never really know what form your TSLs are going to take, I’m kind of hoping for something outside the box to pop up that I can use… My area of interest is this:

Chunks of information
A point particle (without existence) + a chunk of information; a chunk of determination; a chunk of “spin” = a top quark; a bottom quark; an up or down quark; beauty and truth – strange or charm… Do they exist outside the information used to quantify them and determine their “presence” or “reality”? With bosons sounding something like a vacuum particle, is dark matter information?

and

Information is found to be the foundational basis underlying all biology. Information is built… progressing from the minimal – an abiotic chemical nothingness to the unrealized concept of infinity plus one… How does increasing information context leading from “zero” up to the complex irrationalities of mind fit within the known laws of thermodynamics?

What is the reality of information?

It’s good that the Holocaust is well known in pop culture. When will there be movies or TV shows about the Gulag Archipelago, the Katyn Forest Massacre, the Estonian Forest Brothers, the Ukrainian Holodomor, the Cultural Revolution, the Cambodian Killing Fields, and the nightmarish horrors of North Korea? Surely these stories would draw eyeballs.

Was the Virginia gun rights rally a tactical victory but a strategic defeat for the gun rights community?

I’ll betcha the government scanned every face, collected every cell number, scraped every social media post, and created a monster database for future use against our side.

Since governments and big tech corporations with quantum computers might make current encryption methods useless, do you foresee a return to old fashioned security measures like face to face meetings, snail mail encrypted via one-time pads, or even homing pigeons carrying SD cards?

I’ve been holding off on booking the Strato Cruise because my 96/97 year old In-Laws aren’t doing well and my wife can’t commit. Any chance there’s another intrepid TSLer out there who wants to go solo and is looking for a roomie?

O Great Senpai – I ask one of the age-old questions of our time.
Single Malt or Blended? (My preference should be evident from my avatar)
Islay or Speyside or Highland (again my preference should be evident, I will be having a Lagvulin while I watch this, unless I am at work. I have to drink vodka, there)

As digital technology advances, are you concerned that the ability to cheaply fabricate photo-realistic video will destroy the credibility of videos as evidence in court/in life? I can see us returning to a time when you can’t trust anything you or someone you trust didn’t see with their own eyes. The digital capture technology you want to use for the aurora project could nullify the truth-spreading power of video.

Oh great senpai,
I live in the formerly great Commonwealth of Virginia, presently governed by Blackface Northam and his anti-gun legislators. You have no doubt noticed all the anti-gun legislation that will be probably passed in the next few weeks has all of us on the western side of the state riled up. Not that were giving them up or registering them with anyone. I see similar legislation attempted in other states, probably with Bloomberg money behind it, constantly pushing it farther and farther with each election. What do you see as the end game down the road for this nonsense. Sooner or later another democrat will be in the White House and will continue to push it from the federal side.

Hey Richard, how far west are you? I am in the Roanoke area. Great question for the Senpai!

With all of the money that Hollywood chooses to lose via virtue signaling, whether through the anti-American Iraq War movies from the Bush presidency to SJW infestation into beloved franchises, why aren’t we seeing share holder lawsuits against the studios? On a similar vein, would toy & clothing companies have any recourse for the merchandise fees they paid to warehouse crates of Rose Tico action figures?
