Purple Haze

Until today I had no idea what a “girandola” was. Apparently there is a whole system of jargon employed by the fireworks industry, and a girandola is the spinning things that spray sparks and smoke.

These guys put a GoPro camera inside one and lit it off. The results are spectacularly — unsettling:

Here is how to make one, if you aren’t afraid of taking the risk of setting all your hair on fire:

Finally, just to show how crazy some people are for entertainment, take a look at this Thai festival. Some of these would make NASA proud (see particularly the launch starting at 0:26)!

The failure starting at 10:36 makes me wonder if the ancient Chinese depictions of dragons were based on these kinds of firework. And you certainly don’t need to know the language to understand the gist of what the announcer is saying at 10:41!

My farm is about two miles outside of a town. How many forms of law enforcement do you think one of these would attract? willing to speculate, not willing to find out!

Depends on what state you live in. I don’t think it would be a problem here, as long as you stayed away from the dry season.

Very kewl! I saw that video a long time ago, but forgot about it. Do you mind it I put that up in the main post (not everybody reads comments)?
