Quit Your Job: Employers Go Begging in COVID-19 Reshuffle for Millions of Unfilled Jobs

Employers go begging and millions of jobs go unfilled in the COVID-19 employment reshuffle. The economic crisis sparks a new wave of “quit your job” enthusiasm, but where have all the workers gone? Video above hosted at Rumble.

I keep hearing about the worker shortage, but I haven’t seen it yet. I was fired for not complying with COVID mandates. I’ve been out of work for about 3 months now, and was denied unemployment insurance. I’ve been applying and have had a few interviews. I’ve made it to the 2nd round of interviews a few times. Most companies either never respond, or they stop responding. I have over 4 years of experience in InfoSec, a field that has supposedly always understaffed. I have 15 years of IT experience. I have my bachelors in Computer Science. I tell recruiters what I’d like to be paid, and they tell me the job actually pays $5-$10 more than what I’m asking for so I’m not asking for too much money. If there’s a worker shortage, why is it so difficult to get a job that I have experience in? This news segment better describes the situation a lot of us find ourselves in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6e7Mp5gO54.

Taking our country back should involve a vertically-integrated economic approach providing jobs and businesses as part of a complete “buy American” solution for American patriots who love our country and our freedoms and hate the way our government has betrayed us with misrepresentation including, but not limited to, pointless foreign wars, raping other countries for their resources (John Perkins, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and New Confessions of an Economic Hit Man (links to free downloads below; Perkins worked for our government implementing foreign policy decisions abroad)) and aligning themselves (Democrats primarily) with globalist Marxists seeking to take over the world (Curtis Bowers channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb8oK4NbWB8-PjPGX0-nAmw. Agenda 1: Grinding America Down; Agenda 2: Masters of Deceit).

The convenience of working from home, the freedom of entrepreneurialism and the lost allure of material things in favor of time spent with family I’m sure were all major factors as well. Big Corp is in big trouble, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier given their role in the Marxist globalism as backers of “social justice” and mandated diversity seminars. They all need to be replaced to the extent possible with American small business. 5G is coming, and as Jeff Brown says in this interview with Glenn Beck, the economy will boom. We shouldn’t cede control of those opportunities to nameless, faceless, soulless corporations who want to control us.

I think a big factor is that people realized how insecure working for a large employer can be when they have all the leverage and can fire you at will for not taking a vaccine or pretty much anything else they decide which goes against your wishes. People don’t like to be told what to do or spoken to like children. Without a scientific basis, these mandates were tantamount to mom or dad responding with, “Because I said so.” So the thinking, talented public went, “Oh really? Watch this,” and voted with their feet.

Agreed. I retired from Abbott Labs but have friends that still work there. Because they provide product under government contracts, they’ve decided to follow the vax mandates and will begin firing people this month if they don’t take the jab. Interestingly enough, the facility I used to work at got hit with a wave of Omicron. Only the vaxxed caught it, so it is the unvaxxed that are keeping the doors open. For now.

Thanks for the info Julieann. You might find this interesting. Pardon the clickbait. Dr. Nathan Thompson. Compares the results of his patient’s bloodwork before and after vaccine and boosters. Shows that the immune system is actually compromised which, if it is occurring regularly, would explain the breakthrough infections for vaccinated people.

Perhaps more disturbing are the SCOTUS judges like Sotomayor repeating falsehoods and ignoring science.

We certainly live in interesting times!

There is so much that we don’t know concerning the long-term effects of this shot. I just read a story where Scotland is experiencing a high volume of infant deaths – the highest rate since the 80s. All of the women were vaxxed and no one will look into it. My crystal ball tells me we’ll be seeing more adverse events as time passes.

The globalists don’t give a rip about the consequences of their actions as they make their bid for world domination. Truth, science, humanity, life…all mean nothing to them.

Maybe Scott will respond, but he has pulled it out for a few back stage episodes and talked about it, though it has been a few weeks/month.

Are you a calculator buff? I have a buddy who’s a serious enthusiast for old calculators. He’s always on the lookout for rare or particularly well known calculators. I have an old Casio fx-115m Scientific that does everything I need it to but I don’t know anything about the genre. I used to use them all the time but I have a computer now so … It’s not a thing for me and my purposes anymore.

I try to watch for things I think my buddy will be interested in though. I’ve steered him to a couple that he bought.

I still have a Commodore US4, which to the best of my knowledge was the first calculator to have a memory for the user. M+, M-, RM and all that good stuff. Sure came in handy for engineering back in the day!!

When I was in high school my Dad bought a calculator for his work. It had a red LED display and was about the size of a medium to large paperback novel. It had add, subtract, multiply and divide functions, I don’t recall if it had any memory functions at all.

I swiped it from his desk one time to use at school. It was a really cool thing, a big deal. Everyone was impressed.

That’s how I found out what he paid for it because he went on and on about me “liberating” his $250.00 calculator and how it could have been lost, broken or stolen in school.

$250 was a lot of money in 1973. My online inflation-by-year calculator says that’s $1565.02 in 2022 dollars.

Now you can download an orbital mechanics calculator for free and get something that does more than my Dad’s calculator that’s about the size of a credit card for a dollar, sometimes not even that much.

It’s a T-1220. It can add, subtract, multiply, divide and do percentages. It’s the first calculator I owned and I begged Pop to buy it for me. He paid $79. The one I showed on camera I bought at a yard sale for $.89 (89-cents) a few years back. It works great.I use it almost daily, even thought my iPhone calculator sits next to me on my desk. Click. Click. Click.

How do the statistics now compare with those of the era of stagflation? All that funny money being dumped into the economy has got to be a big part of the mismatches and misallocations in our current economy, so it makes me think that we’ve seen this movie before. Yes, some employers are offering signing bonuses and higher hourly rates if they are getting more of the Biden bucks, but other employers are cutting back because their expenses have shot up. On net there are fewer jobs but with greater demands in some focussed areas. The effects of increasing the money supply aren’t uniform which is why inflation can be far more destructive than the naive economist might think.

The Admin’s metric for a booming economy is, what, record low unemployment?
How can we have record low unemployment, 10 million jobs unfilled, and the lowest participation rate all at the same time. Thomas Sowell in his Basic Economics book never covered this stew of weirdness. Lots of very smart BW members out there, can anybody volunteer a few moments to tell me how this all works? I’ll thank you all in advance.
Is this just a case of ‘figures don’t lie, but liars figure’?

I’ve been wondering if the Democrats are setting up the table for a bank shot where they lift all the restrictions and quietly revert to Trumpian policies … Just at the right time before the 2024 elections to to scream about “saving the nation” with things like the largest employment surge ever.

If they did that and let all the extended benefits for people who aren’t working expire, not cancel them which would be politically unpopular but just throw up their hands and say “They expired and there’s nothing we can do about that.” Then all those people have to go back to work to make ends meet. In a labor market that is screaming for bodies … That would cause a huge surge in employment.

But …

That would have to be timed out just right to have maximum effect and that’s a tricky thing to do. Also that’s just labor, which is not insignificant but also does not address other failures like inflation on overdrive, foreign policy and military travesties, etc. Timed out well it would help but it’s not enough and especially if this administration continues to step on it’s own dick.

I’m not into conspiracy theory, in my experience keeping a huge secret locked tight in a large group of conspirators just doesn’t work. Someone always blabs eventually. That said, I can see historical examples of political chicanery and manipulation too. FDR managed to put a hostile SCOTUS in is back pocket, for example.

So the question is — “Do they have the smarts and the guts to pull something like that off?”

And there’s the rub. I keep looking at what they’re doing and coming up with a solid “No”.

They’re committing political suicide and seem to be completely in denial about that. They probably think the corrupt media will cover their slack but that’s not working very good either.

It looks to me like the Leftist “It works great in theory and damn the reality” types are in charge and with every failure they double down and/or lie hoping that eventually their ideology will pay off with a political jackpot. It has to, right? Because that’s what Leftist universities pounded into their heads. If they could just get control they could usher in a Leftist Utopia by the policies we see enacted before our eyes every day. And hey, they got control of at least the Democrat Party. Which happens to be in power right now.

They remind me of gambling addicts that squander their rent money because they “just know” that the next pull of the slot machine handle is going to be the answer to their hopes and dreams.

I’ve been powerfully confused trying to fathom just what they’re up to. In the light of traditional American politics it just doesn’t make any sense. Which makes me wonder what I’m missing.

Committing political suicide is a very strange course of action and I’ve been concerned that they know something we don’t. Like after they stole the last election they perfected a way to cheat that is so air tight they will get the permanent lock on power that they lust after so enthusiastically.

If that were the case, they just wouldn’t care if we like what they do and will vote for them or not. If they can successfully steal any election they want to they have no more reason to try to influence the popular vote.

Seriously, they’ve abandoned their traditional base entirely. They always gave at least lip service to “the little guy”. Yet that is the demographic their policies are harming the most. The lower economic tiers feel damage sooner and more profoundly than further up the ladder but Leftist Democrats don’t seem to care. Too bad if you can’t afford to buy groceries, gas or heat your home, we’re all drinking expensive wine and driving electric vehicles in and out of our gated enclaves protected by private armed security. You peons can starve and freeze for all we care.

Inflation, according to Thomas Sowell —

“It is a way to take people’s wealth from them without having to openly raise taxes. Inflation is the most universal tax of all.”

… which is true and it hits hardest at the lowest economic tiers. It affects people living off meager government stipends, entitlements and welfare the same or more than it affects a minimum wage worker because what they have does not go nearly as far as it did. They sold their vote for an EBT card and surprise, surprise — Now they’re being cheated by the people they sold their vote to.

If you want to make poor and hungry people even poorer and hungrier kick inflation into overdrive. There’s a point where skin color becomes irrelevant to racial components of the Left. If you can no longer pay your bills you’re not going to vote for that Democrat you’ve been supporting for years.

This apparent political suicide had me very concerned for quite a while so I’ve been watching very closely. I mean, we all know that a coup of some sort isn’t beneath them, they tried to overthrow the Will of the People and oust a legitimate sitting POTUS several times in one term of office. They finally succeeded thanks to massive fraud and cheating. So there’s no doubt that dirty tricks are a favored tactic for the Left.

They believe they are justified in this behavior and will tell you that it was necessary to “save the country”.

But no, watching what they’re doing I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s a committee of Leftists pulling the strings of the Shrivelled Garden Vegetable in the Oval Office. We have our own politburo working behind the face of the POTUS (Potato Operative Totally Under Sway).

The Democrats played with a very hot fire pandering to the far Left for votes and empty virtue. I think that nasty firebird has come home to roost. Ignoring what they say and focusing on what they do, it all fits nicely that the Democrat Party has been overthrown by their own foolish pandering and hoisted on their own petards.

As the saying goes — They fed the alligator hoping it would eat them last. Which it did, because they’re the plumpest, juiciest political item in easy reach on the menu. (We’re not on that menu, but they are. We’re shooting every political alligator we can get at.)

I believe that will be their complete undoing. If they cannot achieve a genuinely permanent lock on power. There’s the danger right now. That house of cards cannot stand for long. It will come crashing down and that will become obvious to the Left.

Traditionally and historically the Left responds with surprise that their ideology has not achieved the promised results. Surprise without learning the errors of their ways. They don’t say “Hey, my bust, I was wrong and I will do better from now on.” They say …

“We’re in power. We need to stay in power a while longer to achieve our goals and usher in our Socialist Utopia. Which after all the historic failures we will finally get right. Roll the tanks and march out the jackboots. It’s only for a little while anyway.”

Right now is one of the most dangerous times in the history of America to our Republic. Don’t let that depress you even a little bit. The main thing is to keep them from cheating to the point where they have that political lock on power and we can do that. If everyone understands what’s going on.

If we can do that, their policies will come back to bite them in the ass. Alligators bite HARD. Their house of cards will fall. Hard. It’s already falling at an accelerating pace. The trick at this moment in history is to give them enough rope to hang themselves real good without actually allowing them to get to a point of permanent power. How well we pull that off will determine how thoroughly they destroy themselves.

I think that answered your questions?

ACTS, if that’s what you can do when you have a “few moments”, am looking forward to reading what you can produce when you have some real time! Thanks for the answers. I never considered the “bank shot” you described in the beginning. THAT should become a topic of a group discussion including Steve Green in that group.
As to the Thomas Sowell inflation remark, I can add this. An 8% tax on a $2.00 loaf of bread versus an 8% tax sales tax on an inflation affected $4.00 loaf of bread. Doubling your sales tax revenue…where is the incentive for leftists controlling state legislatures and Governor’s positions to fight or complain about Fed caused inflation? Sure, a 1 million per mile freeway might cost more but I just don’t think leftists consider anything further than the short term inflation sales tax revenue gain.

..”Shriveled Garden Vegetable”….he’s obviously not running on all V-8’s.

Thanks …

I think if you could get a DNC strategist to be honest (pretty much an impossible feat but for purposes of discussion …) and you asked him why his party abandoned the “little guy” he’d reply that they have done no such thing. He’d say that they’re championing the littlest of the little, the Alphabet Soup Community*. The LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ folks, I can’t be bothered to remember all the letters they actually string together.

There are two problems with that.

  1. There is no such community. All people whose personal peccadillos and perversions fall somewhere on that string of letters the Left uses do not think, act, or vote as a bloc. Many of them resent the Democrat Party (and anyone else) who presumes to paint themselves as their spokesperson/spokesanimal/spokesvegetable/spokesmineral. All the people who might belong to that fictitious community who support the Democrat Party did so anyway and are pretty much single issue voters. As a cross section of political orientation the rest are as diverse as any other group of people
  2. The Alphabet Soup Community is demographically tiny. It’s a lot smaller than the voting members of the population the Democrats are depriving or starving and driving into the arms of the Republican Party. It’s a bad trade to swap the votes of the Alphabet Soup Community for their votes.

True, there are a lot more people identifying themselves as part of the Alphabet Soup Community than there were a few years ago. A small percentage of those are real Alphabet Soupers who came out of the closet but the huge majority of new weirdos are just following the social fad that has been artificially created. That’s nothing more than a card or three in the Democrat house of cards. Because it does not represent mainstream America at all.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Democrat Leftists brought that fad to fruition over the same period they found a way to corrupt the electoral process and cheat on vote counting.

The reason this short sighted, short term house of cards strategy will and must fail is that it ignores political realities, which are deeply profound and difficult to manipulate, in favor of ephemeral gadfly social manipulation. There will come new fads and there will be people that persist both in older fads and leap to adopt new ones.

Be that as it may, and it is, the Democrat Left in pursuing the ephemeral and ignoring the profound have created a political, social and economic blight. That blight will rot the lowest economic tiers first and progress up the economic and social tree until it kills the tree. Which tree is of course the Tree of Liberty. The Left wants nothing more than to destroy that tree.

The problem is that as that tree of political reality sustains more and more damage as the Democrat Left rots it’s own powerbase … The Left will lose influence proportionately.

Think of a wave crashing on a sandy beach. It might look pretty daunting as it rolls into shallow water but when it gets to the beach it loses the very thing that made it powerful a few yards further seaward.

American exceptionalism may very well manifest as that beach. The only question is can we stop the Left from getting a lock on political power before beach erosion changes the landscape completely.

The answer to that question is not can we but will we. It can go either way.

*Alphabet Soup Community … We need to think up and broadly apply labels like this to fight the culture war. As Bill Whittle and others have so often reminded us, it’s the culture war we’re really fighting. This and labels like “The Woking Dead” etc. are our return salvos to being called “Racists” and “Deplorables” etc. As the phenomena I describe above increasingly manifests, those sorts of labels gain power. They give normal people an “excuse” to resist Social Marxism. As in “I’m sorry but I’m not one of the Woking Dead.” or “I’m not going to vote against my own interests just to support some Alphabet Soup fad.” delivered with a little sarcasm and derision. Find, remember and apply things like that every chance you get. Don’t worry about plagiarizing a commentator, his comments are an effort to influence so help him by using words and phrases that you think are appropriate and applicable. I promise you, he won’t mind at all.

People often think “I agree with this commentator but what is the practical application? What can I really do?” This is something we can do that has a real effect once it catches on.

Record unemployment comes from everyone participating in the labor force who wants a job taking one, but the supply for jobs far outstrips the demand as people in the labor force who want to work.
As far as why potential employees are not participating yet leaving Big Corp in droves at all levels…a) diversity hires and promotions praised over meritocracy. I think it’s the reason we now have more women at professional positions than men who have left to do their own thing, b) exhaustion and frustration over forced wokeness and mandated diversity lectures brought to you by Marxism, c) people who recognized Big Corp’s role in globalist Marxism with their ESG social credit scores, championing of “diversity” and social justice, and vaccine mandates d) realization that working from home / entrepreneurialism saves you a LOT of time which can be spent with family and some are prioritizing over material things and e) people hate to be told what to do and treated like children by mid-level managers who don’t value them or their experience when making decisions and CEO’s whose response to questions about the vaccine mandates are, “Because I told you so.”

That about covers it. Agenda 1 and 2 videos by Curtis Bowers (“Grinding America Down” and “Masters of Deceit”) if you want the history from 1930’s to the present day linking the Democrats, RINO’s and the unelected bureaucrats in our establishment in full detail and how they’ve quietly infiltrated all of our institutions. Yuri Bezmenov (former KGB agent) lecture is also a key to understanding. Gave it about 50 years ago outlining how the communists practice subversion.

Once you understand that power is their only goal, things like opening the border and lies/propaganda through the fake news while ignoring science and truth make perfect sense. Look up the Great Reset as well, once a “conspiracy theory” (a term invented by our own CIA to discredit opponents), now a commercial. They literally say you will own nothing and like it.

Peter Byrne on Rumble. Lindell’s website for “Absolute Proof.” https://a1000cuts.org for interviews of Arizona auditors for insights and evidence of their election rigging.

I might be naive and quite probably not as informed as you on this, (on top of that not paranoid enough as well, perhaps) but to extend some of your analogies:
They believe the press will continue to cover for them (and they will try) but the press’ blanket isn’t enough to cover all of their sins, especially with the press trying to sweep their own sins under the same blanket. More people are getting their news from less biased and more competent sources, and the corruption won’t be as tolerated by an awoken people.
There still are enough people that trust the leftist news sources, or despise the “right wing” enough that they will still vote Democrat, seeing it as “well one pedophile isn’t as bad as a bunch of raciest mass murderers”. This echos, and is probably more truthful, than the comment that Donald Trump could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and still get votes. (or however that quote went).
There are some well meaning, deluded, and useful idiots (eg AOC) that will end up (hopefully) against the wall asking “Why Us? We meant well? So what if it didn’t work, our intentions were pure.” but some others are not afraid of that end because they know their supposed opponents in the party of the larger grey animal won’t really, actually, hold them to account. They may (or may not) really care about McConnell’s pushing of judicial appointments and be able to forsee (as you’re questioning) how that connects to Reid’s (or was it Schumer’s?) reduction of the filibuster powers. They often do seem very short sighted on matters like that, but I expect it ties into them thinking “our side” (which isn’t as much on our side as they should be) will keep playing by “the rules” which they then change to suit as needed. I think they fail to see the “choose the form of your own destructor” promise and misread demographics.
As the media blanket shrinks, more people are redpilled/mugged by reality, as blacks see their blue run inner cities burn, asians are excluded by colleges, the colleges themselves are exposed as money laundering systems selling over priced and under valued parchment and sheepskin in a digital age, Jews see themselves sold and betrayed (and possibly see the exact same thing happening to outcast Chinese in China and boy will those chickens look more like vultures when they come home to roost) and the Hispanics from 15 different cultures and countries are tired of being confused for Mexicans, as all of these people find they have been taken for granted and stuck in little boxes with the same labels as people with entirely different needs and problems than they have, they will either quit playing the game or just switch sides. We will either gain a half a vote for those that drop out or flip the whole playing field. I don’t think the elites fully forsee that, and if they do, expect we won’t be at their houses with torches and pitchforks and they can keep living well and laughing at us.
Sarah Hoyt has a #teamheadsonpikes she’s been using on Instapundit. I’m not quite there yet, but I am willing to buy rope futures.

Hey Karl. I apologize for the delayed response. I started working on it a couple days ago, and it morphed into this thing which requires a little more work to bring it together. I’ll probably end up posting it on the blog as well as here in the next few days.

In short, I share your opinions. What started to concern me most of all is one of the first you bring up…they thought they could lie without consequence which to me meant they thought they had full control and could accomplish whatever globalist plan they had in mind regardless of what we thought. It was a gut check moment which I think passed unnoticed by many Americans.

Good news is that they’re losing badly. 2022 will be the beginning of the end for the establishment, and as long as we open America’s eyes to their coup attempt, which is very possible through Rumble and other free speech platforms, there’s really nothing they can do short of military action. I think the vast majority of military would quit/whistleblow before fighting Americans.

The other thing they could do is allow an attack by terrorists as a distraction. In the Agenda 2 video, there’s a guy who definitely links Russia to Islamic terrorists. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen either. Even if it did, I think Americans would see it for the distraction from Marxist globalism that it would be.

I just posted on the blog about the evidence that they found for Maricopa County. It’s hard evidence of the stolen election, so watching all of the naysayers eat crow over the coming months should be fun while the cheating Dems try to push for no voter ID and universal mail-in balloting.

Take care and God bless.

Jeremy, thanks for your explanation. Dan Bongino has played long clips of Yuri speaking and it’s frightening just how cold he is while speaking about the “long term plan”. Reminds me of China’s CCP 20 year plans. About the labor exodus, I’ve got to see if our “esteemed” BLS keeps track of the age of these workers who are not showing back up to work post covid….young kids who feel invincible and think that they can work the soup kitchens and welfare just a little longer? Or, 64 year olds saying screw it.?.early retirement? Probably a mix of both. I thank you for those references and links.

You’re welcome. I enjoy Bongino now and then. He’s passionate due in part to his humble beginnings.

Another relevant one from Bezmenov. Haven’t listened yet. The first is chilling indeed.

The communists are definitely patient and play the long game. I don’t have a reference, but I remember reading/hearing that Deng Xiaoping declared war on the United States in the early 90’s via culture and other “soft” means.

Given the amount of false information that our government has spread over COVID, it does make you wonder how much of what we’ve been told has been the truth, doesn’t it? I sorta gave up when I Iearned that food and gas weren’t included in the inflation index. Not expecting a deep dive with curiosity by BLS into the data searching for actual answers.

My pleasure to share the links and information. We’re in an information war, and sharing the proper info is the best thing we can do as citizens to do our part. Everyday people have caught on that the establishment has been lying through their teeth, which is going to lead them to ask questions such as…

Why are they lying to us?
Were they lying about Jan. 6th and why?
Why would they steal an election?
Who’s really in charge and what’s their hidden agenda?

It’s up to us to save the country by spreading the truth well-sourced with links so it can’t be dismissed as “conspiracy theory.”

Patrick Byrne just released an update on Maricopa County, AZ. They’ve found ironclad evidence of fraud, and they’ve narrowed down the audit procedure including cost to $500,000 or less.

Wait until people figure out that the globalist Marxists were behind it with the full cooperation of the Democrats.

If you report how many people are on unemployment and that number is lower than it was, you have a record low number. All of the people no longer getting unemployment checks don’t count in that, but do count in the “population not working but could be” tally. They either have enough money left over from the stimulus, or are still getting transfer payments but not listed as unemployed, and so can go out and spend money, driving up demand that cannot be met without workers available to hire.

Agreed to all points Karl. This administration is doing what the Obama administration was guilty of. Picking a portion of the truth and pumping it for all its worth.. Biden’s “record low unemployment ” rings so hollow in the face of low labor partipation rates.
It’s also the same crap the Obama gang did during their run….Build Back Better has that same leftist stench of….”Winning the Future (Wtf?), and “We can’t Wait”, and who can forget the great “Yes we can”(In 2 languages).

Academic discussions about the erosion of purchasing power due to inflation are pointless. People work because they need the cash to pay their bills! If inflation is cutting into their budget, they get a second job to take up the slack. Or, at least they used to. Only through big government largesse providing an alternate source of cash to meet this need, are formally hard-working Americans afforded the luxury of turning down good paying jobs. The endgame, of course, is to erode the work ethic so completely that every able-bodied worker will choose the government teat rather than the rigors (and rewards) of gainful employment.

I was born to immigrants that came to America many years ago. The words, “How blessed am I to have a job, and maybe some day I may have enough money to buy a house” were words I heard in every immigrant’s apartments we visited. God rest their souls!

Labor Force Participation was a phrase I used to drive Obama Disciples crazy for eight years. The mental contortions they had to go through to justify their faith in their Hopey Changey Savior were quiute impressive. And painful to watch.

That was part of my thought with Road Rider’s question above. They can quote low unemployment but if people aren’t actually on the dole, they aren’t counted in the numbers. They just aren’t working.

No big deal, sold the house moved from crummy Wayne county MI to wonderful Mexico MO. Couldn’t be happier and now I’m doing part time electrical work. But thanks Brother Bob.
As an aside I always referred to one of my really good friends at my old job as Brother Bob. He was a character.

As Steve said, entry level wages, eg. McDonalds, are much higher than pre-lockdown….But 35% inflation makes those “tempting” wages look unpalatable to the unemployed, who are not stupid.

I don’t have figures, but I can’t see O’Biden’s lockdown bailout payments helping the economy. People are paid to stay home, why work for McD’s when you can skate? Local restaurants are closed for half the week in Bozeman because they can’t get workers. When restaurant is open, it’s packed for dinner…so demand is still there.

O’Biden has killed hope, deliberately, and that plays a part, too. Personally, I think if we wait till the Mid-Term elections to “do something”, it will be too late. At some point the loss of hope kills any chance of change.

The Republican return to power is not a done deal: I see my Trump friends carping at Trump’s misteps (and he made some, like not getting rid of the psychopaths running NIH, and the rest of the Fed’s “health” departments). I gag at Trump’s current pushing the vax and infinity of boosters. Unfortuneatly, Trump is the only Republican who has demonstrated he knows how to run the US economy, but his chances of return are hurt by Republican carping. And overriding all the above, who thinks US elections are going to be sqeeky clean going forward? The crooks threw us a bone in Virginia, but when the big deal is on the table, they will revert to the same crap they pulled in 2020 and steal the midterms. Every audit I’ve seen so far has shown massive Democrat corruption of the electoral process. I don’t think the Chinese are going to let their Democrat toadies get flushed in 2022.
