Stanley B. Greenberg, pollster and political consultant to both Bill and Hillary Clinton, says demographic forces will kill the Republican Party in the 2020 election. His new book — R.I.P. G.O.P. — declares the party D.O.A., as the Democratic Party brings a message of hope for the “New America.” Does President Trump dismiss Greenberg’s claims only at his own peril?

Well they are about to take Texas – who’d have ever thought that?
There’s a game designer and comic book publisher named Vox Day (http://voxday.blogspot.com) who has been singing this song well before the 2016 election, and his prediction of a Trump win was one of the reasons I became optimistic about Trump winning. He is rather pessimistic about the ability of the U.S. to remain the nation it is until perhaps after a civil war or something similar happens. I don’t agree with that assessment as strongly as he does, and I don’t agree with some of his claims regarding segregation of classes. But he is an avowed Christian, is sad but very mad to see the West killing that culture and tradition. In any event, Bill is right on about this gaming culture and its potential to help eliminate the Left in this country of ours, so we need to help him and spread the word. Day is publishing material and products to feed this young group, something that Bill is doing as well.
I doubt anyone can predict where this culture war is going – to paraphrase Glenn Reynolds, we’re in the middle of renegotiating the postwar power structure. I think Greenberg in the long run HAS to be wrong – he’s only propagating a first-order, short-term projection (about the only prognostication leftists seem to be capable of). At the same time, the Right is winning on the 2nd Amendment and abortion, there isn’t even really a debate about free-market economics (the Dems talk around it), and I think the monolithic Democrat wall of African-American votes is crumbling and cracking and will eventually come apart. The Latino vote is not monolithic now, which is why the Dems want to keep importing newer and more ignorant Latinos. I do think the GOP is a dead thing walking, in the same sense that the Whigs were in 1856. The death of the GOP isn’t going to mean the death of conservatism, libertarianism, free market economics, or patriotism: the GOP will be replaced by something else that represents these philosophies and resonates better. Nor does the death of the GOP mean the triumph of Leftism: the Left is also a dead thing walking, because almost everybody who isn’t on the Dem Graft Gravy Train hates them. Right now, the Dems are only ascendant by default, because everybody hates the GOP more, and that result is thanks to a cataract of anti-Right propaganda coming from the media, academia, and entertainment, without the Right able to even slow it down, let alone stop it. If this is the best the Left can do with a virtually unchallenged propaganda machine at their backs, they aren’t winning anything. The worst case outcome is that the Left wins by default, temporarily, and spends the rest of their two generations in authoritarian power repressing the rest of America ceaselessly and violently. And that won’t end well for them (though probably not for anyone else, either).
There is a hazard in eschewing “traditional conservatism” by pandering to what seems catchy and cool. I know there’s no squirting the milk back up the udder, where culture is concerned. But do keep in mind that the culture is conditioning us to be stimulated only by danker and danker degeneracy. I would like to share with you this lamentation of the abandonment of traditional values by a young person, no less. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK_0Yo-0r08
Traditionalist, nationalist, reactionary, or dissident conservatism (whatever you call it) may be growing among the youth. It’s difficult to tell with all the propaganda and manipulation by the media and the tech lords. It was around before the distraction of the alt-right and it’s still around after the alt-right crashed and burned.
“Respectable” conservatives all nodded sagely in agreement when Breitbart said politics is downstream from culture and then went back to being outraged about the latest political news.
I think Bills right but if we wait for star citizen to work it will be too late. We need to be making simple machinima in a variety of popular games to deploy now. I can do Minecraft, elders scrolls online, Space Engineers and city skylines. I need a script and people to play camera and other actors. We have others in other games that I suspect are ready to go there too. Hit all the game genres.
Capitalism; mine stuff, make stuff, sell stuff. Capital is the tools to do it. If you don’t keep the wealth you earn you can’t maintain and upgrade your tools. Minecraft is easy the tools wear out. A few other games are harder because the tools don’t wear. Someone needs to play the gubberment.
In world of tanks we need a bunch of people on a training server with the Germans arguing with the other tanks about whether or not their proud to be socialist.
Get writing scripts gang and make them funny.
I have said something similar to this for a long time. The neo-marxist identity politics of the modern left is too full of internal contradictions to survive. The only question is how much will it destroy before it destroys itself. Our mission is (at a minimum) to limit the damage it is able to do.
Indeed, the gamers live in alternative worlds with conservative values. And that is where most of them will be on election day 2020.
If you think that, then you have NO idea how many people in this country would say they are gamers if you asked them in a neutral way.
yup. Some of us just look like normal people.
BA-ZINGA !!!!! Thanks Bill – just sayin’
Greenberg writes what he wishes would happen. It is wishful thinking writ large to the point of a psychosis. Proof? He has attached his future to the Clintons. In what universe does this make any sense?
It could be that the tattooed half-shaven guy was not entirely truthful when asked by complete strangers about his voting preferences.
Given that an expression of overt support for Trump (or even a mild deviation from the current Democratic Party Line) can be a life-ruining experience these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if the young man just performed an in-person version of what so many people do when called by pollsters.
Greenberg is selling a book, which will largely be bought by Left-leaning readers who are desperate and hoping for literature to reinforce what they so dearly want to believe is true. But as the Left has consistently demonstrates, it is unable to accept cognitive reality and so must retreat into fantasy worlds where whatever they wish to be true is seen as being true. In survival, failure to accept reality is called Failure to Thrive. I am far more convinced the inescapable contradiction within the different Leftist groups in the Democratic Party, e.g., feminists who claim that men are the main problem for women, while the transgender movement simultaneously claims there are no men or women since gender is a decision, is a logical contradiction that will more likely see the death of the Democrat Party as we’ve known it more than the GOP, because young people grow up and the idiocy of the Left’s radicals, who have taken power positions in the DNC, will eventually turn the younger generations against them.
Point 1: The majority of voters in this country at the moment are not young millennials. At least not until the baby-boomers are gone. Older folks are the majority and they run the country, not the youth. The youth only drive the media until the older generation is in decline.
Point 2: Leftist indoctrination is so complete at the college and high school level that it has become, for all intents and purposes, the new “establishment.” The youth of any age will always rebel against the Establishment, which in this case will be the Left and its overly restrictive, hateful and non-fun ideologies.
Point 3: based on Greenberg’s track record in 2016, I’d say the safe money is on anything he doesn’t think will happen.
Point 4: Greenberg is right on one point, though his reasons are wrong. The GOP, as we’ve known it for the last decade, needs to die. We need a new GOP that is completely conservative, that does not compromise on conservative ideals, and who, when given the House the Senate AND the presidency, actually take action to act on conservative ideals, instead of worrying about what other people think and doing nothing. We need a GOP with the guts to take action and punish the Democrats by overruling their insane policies and laws and reestablishing the rule of a Constitutionally-driven government.
As to your point #4, it is only folks like Greenberg that look at the retirements of many Republican politicians as evidence that the Republican party is dying. Instead it is a purge which might cause temporary losses but will renew the vision of the party. I have always known that one of our current parties would eventually fail. I was worried it would be the Republican party. I worry about that no longer.
Perhaps it is time to consider “conserving” one of our Founding Fathers other ideals…the electing of a government that wasn’t about parties. With the current changes caused by technology and the death of the political party that started the whole party thing, perhaps we can set a new tone for the future…one where the electorate is more involved and knows their representatives more personally than in the last 100 years. One thing I will say, the whole party system (which is very much the same in both parties) is totally corrupt and vulnerable to abuse by the power hungry. It needs a total revamp or scrap.
You can not remain the tree that fell in the forest, never to be heard!
I enjoy PragerU and the current reviews of their programs is approaching 2.5 billion!!
Maybe understanding their marketing will help with your viewership?
I like the idea of a daily nationally-syndicated radio show too.
As a long time gamer, I see exactly what Bill is talking about. I’m seeing all my male friends (and many female) hating what the left is doing and interfering with their hobbies. They are leaving the left in droves and identifying more and more with conservatives. Watch some Tim Pool and see how he’s dealing with the insanity of the left. He desperately wants to remain left of center but the left is moving so far out that he’s shifting right regardless of what he does. His audience is all moving right as well. I watch a ton of gaming/media related content and all the long time fans are doing this. People cannot stand what is happening and they are rejecting the left/SJW and their messaging.
Hi Will. Are you in Star Citizen at all, or have any interest? Our Organization is alwasy looking for new pilots or shooters to join our ranks. (Bill is one of the founders.)

You know, some years ago (before the actual TEA Party stuff started) I went to meetings of people trying to reform the corrupt Republican party in this state. I quit going after a few not because I didn’t believe in what they wanted to do but because they didn’t have any good answers. And although I support the ideals of the TEA Party, I never attended any of their meetings. I would defer to Bill on who was there. Sounds like the same Baby Boomers that were trying to reform the Republican Party.
My husband and I are on the leading edge of our generation, and we are both still gamers. I don’t think you really need to convince our generation that the kids are into gaming and why. Currently my hands are full with raising two teenaged step-kids who had a bad beginning and starting a business. But I noticed that since Trump has come into power, more and more people from my generation are speaking out and making a difference.
I realize that the Baby Boomers believe that they have been changing the world since they were babies. But this is only true in comparison to the “Silent Generation” who could perhaps be more correctly called the “Outer Space Generation”. But if you go back and look at America’s Founding Fathers, most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were between the ages of 50 and 30 (since demographers decided to give 20 years of births to the “Baby Boom”).
In 2016, the generation after the “Baby Boomers” was aged 51 to 31. This is the age of most influence in society, and things are changing as we reach critical mass. Trump isn’t young (and neither were all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence). But many of the current leading voices of this country, including many of Trump’s staff, are from a new generation. Sure Paul Ryan and Ted Cruz were supposed to lead our generation. That was a total joke. These were people we were TOLD to follow.
So Bill may spend lots of time trying to convince his generation that games are where the young people are at. Instead, WE are where the young people are at. I’m not sure how effective beating your head against the Baby Boomer wall is…since the power of that generation is waning. I don’t expect another Baby Boomer president after Trump. The Democrat pollster can’t see our generation because he is too absorbed with his own (which is true of conservative Baby Boomers too). That doesn’t make him right.
My husband is the Star Wars fan (until the recent garbage). I much prefer Star Trek. So I went back to check on the dates of the release of the heights of Trek TV ( for the widest audience). It turns out Star Trek Next Generation, Deep Space and Voyager were popular when our generation were young adults/college age. They were the episodes that explored many of the themes we were interested in. I absolutely despise the Original series (which was short compared to the height of popularity). And I hate the new ones. Perhaps that information is a microcosm of what is really happening in American culture these days. New generations don’t despise our founding so much as they do our recent “cultural revolutions” and those trying to drive the next one.
You got me. I just watched this on YouTube and just became a member. I really want to help. The youth are our future and we shouldn’t leave them behind. Just let me know what I can do.
Same here.
Welcome to the club! He’s pretty convincing/convicting when he gets going, isn’t he. 😉
Yes, and I think he should either get involved with Turning Point to create another voice, say for gamers or start something like #Walkawy with Brandon Straka or even a voice like Candace Owen which has done wonders for the black community. And then go to gaming conventions, Comic con, etc. Just my two cents.
And maybe this is already part of the plan. I hope so.
Come join us (And Bill) in Star Citizen. We could use gamers and non-gamers alike to play the game, spread the message, manage the organization or mentor young pilots, entrepeneurs and war fighters. Come join America in space!

I’ve been considering it for a while–I just tend to prefer building/survival games. And while the scenery is gorgeous in its detail, the recorded Twitch streams I’ve watched seem to involve a lot of just … hanging out, waiting for stuff to happen.
I would agree with that assessment, you sort of have to make your own fun at this point. It isn’t a game yet – still in open Alpha (which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea), but playing with org members once a week or two can be a a lot of fun and we could use help growing our org and our presence in this game, which hopefully leads to a presence in other games. You can get into the game for $45 with a basic starter ship (all anyone needs for now – recommend the Mustang over the Aurora).
If you want to tack on the single player Squadron 42 game that is supposed to go to BETA in Q3 2020, then your entry point is $65 ($20 to add that title). That’s the game the has Mark Hamill, Henry Cavil, Gilian Anderson, Gary Oldman, etc. as voice/mocap actors. If you decide to get in, feel free use this referal code (STAR-4C26-6CKJ) to double your in game starting money.
