We celebrate rebellion, but there are good rebels and bad rebels. What’s the difference between the two? How can we recapture the founding spirit of these United States of America?

I’d say this guy embodies the spirit of rebellion. https://granitegrok.com/blog/2021/06/manchester-school-district-21ccl-site-coordinators-epic-resignation-letter-cuz-dehumanization-of-white-people?fbclid=IwAR00jMldu697Q7o9pQ2njwTlDjGA8_Cy1A0WiviOzC-EY5XBWByuQUOFNVw
Alfonzo at 4:20: led me to the idea that Antifa is really sort of a weaker version of the Iranian Basij, but maybe it is giving Antifa too much credit to analogize them to a “milita”. :
The Basij, Niru-ye Moghāvemat-e Basij, full name Sāzmān-e Basij-e Mostaz’afin, is one of the five forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. A paramilitary volunteer militia established in Iran in 1979 by order of Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of the Iranian Revolution, the organization originally consisted of civilian volunteers who were urged by Khomeini to fight in the Iran–Iraq War. While I too tend to think of “rebelliousness” as a key virtue of Americans… Zo has got me to thinking now that the terminology is careless. The kind of defiance against unjust authority that we uphold as a virtue is perhaps more accurately labeled as integrity — having a steady course set by a personal moral compass. And holding to that course despite imposed distractions and refusing to substitute someone else’s judgement for what we know in ourselves to be right.
People aren’t “rebelling” against the government, so much as they’re saying the government is wrong, and it would be dumb to knowingly go along with a wrong thing.
Correct. Exactly the reason the founders devoted so much of the Declaration detailing their grievances against the Crown.
“When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.”
We may be closer to that edge now than at any time since the 1860s. I don’t know if there will be a final push from these Progressive parasites to catalyze the people to action, but when and if there is, I suspect that what is left of our armed services will not be of any service the American people. The same disease that has destroyed the civilian institutions has not been sleeping with regard to our military or our police.
Excellent points – it’s so easy to get sucked into the left’s dyslexia. While they decry the evils of American colonialism, leftists are doing their damndest to colonize us. They champion multiculturalism as their ideal while trying to stamp out all traces of American culture. You’re right – we who strive to conserve American principles are not the ones in rebellion, we are the target of it. Only quibble though, dyslexia seems too kind, it’s looking more and more like psychosis.
Psychosis is definitely the correct word to describe the insanity of the Left, which continues its pursuit of tyranny. Those who ascribe to the Left are guilty of being the psychotic schoolyard bully; the difference being that these Leftists are armed with deadly weapons — both physical and psycholigical.
Also psychotic because a lot of what they believe has no connection to reality. Bullying is right on target. They want to convince themselves into believing nonsense? Have at it. If only they could leave us in peace.
Since joining, I have watched every episode, and not only do enjoy and agree, but I have learned and understand nuances that I would have missed before in regular conversations. So, I want to say to all of you, Bill, Steve, Scott and Alfonso, thank you for making my understanding of issues clearer than I had previously considered..
I suspect Biden does not know what an unlawful command is. There is a good chance that the political situation will end very quickly with Biden or Harris reacting to something a Red state government has done by ordering a few fighters into the air and will find no-one in the chain of command will act on the order. I remember the story of Hitler’s order to Dietrich von Choltitz to burn Paris to the ground. Von Choltitz never refused the orders he just did not obey it. He is known as the savior of Paris. He was never charged with a war crime and was released in 1947.
It’s amazing to realize that the guy who is leading the free world doesn’t know that it’s rifles that win wars.
If you have a rifle, you and some other riflemen can take a tank by taking out the crew when they’re not in the tank. You can take your tank and a few others obtained the same way to an air base and take a fighter or two, etc.
Obviously it’s not that simple or Afghan Jihadis would be tooling around the skies in fighter planes but the point is that it all starts with a rifle.
If you have a rifle you have a chance but without a rifle, you have no chance at all. If you don’t have a rifle, the first thing you need to do is obtain one by taking it from a government thug that has one. So the most optimum situation is to have a head start on that by possessing your own rifle which makes that government thug with a rifle think twice about messing with your legal and moral rights.
This only works as a deterrent if the guy in the White House isn’t a brain dead fossil. If he doesn’t understand what I said above and thinks that he can bully anyone who doesn’t have fighter jets and thermonuclear warheads — Rifles are going to come as a mighty big surprise to him. But …
That isn’t going to be half as startling to him as when he finds out that most of the people who drive tanks, fly military aircraft and keep the nuclear arsenal viable are not on his side.
As long as our military keeps it’oath to support and defend the Constitution, we Conservatives are ok. If anything, they would be on our side.
There’s a high noise to signal ratio on the internet regarding the wokification of the United States Military. Generals get to be Generals because the civilian authority likes and/or trusts them. Generals in peace time are poor political shadows of wartime Generals. It’s important not to forget that.
I know a lot of active and retired military people. I speak to those people a lot. I’m not worried about Joe’s threats of fighter jets and nukes, yet. The day may come but it’s not today and won’t be tomorrow, the next week, the next month or the next few years.
The current CNO puts a woke author on his reading list and the press makes a big deal out of it. That author does not belong on that reading list but pretty much no one makes a habit of faithfully working down the line of books the Chief of Naval Operations puts on a list.
Just over 6 years ago I attended an event where the then current CNO spoke to a graduation class at the U.S. Navy War College. Obama was still POTUS. That CNO reminded the whole assembly of our oath and that we were expected to fulfill that oath no matter what the winds of politics blew in.
Also don’t forget that despite the nonsensical policies of wokification that are being forced on the military by the civilian political authority, the kind of person who joins a military service is usually not the woke type. He/she is usually someone who is looking forward to being a part of the mechanism that kicks ass and takes names when it comes to dealing with America’s enemies.
The few military people I know are the type who, if ordered to attack law abiding people would say #%@$no. If ordered again, they’d attack the person who gave the order.
Yeah, that pretty well sums it up and I know a lot of military people. In fact, of all the military people I know, every one of them is more like that than not.
I don’t know any of these “wokinistas” that we’re hearing about in the news though I have heard a few horror stories. Thankfully there’s a mechanism for reporting that kind of non-military military person and everyone I’ve heard a horror story from has filed a complaint.
Considering the political climate it’s only a matter of time before the eventual corruption of some of the military higher-ups. They are political creatures, they’ve spent their whole lives getting to the place they are now and they don’t want to lose that place by appearing reluctant to “get with the program” of wokeness. When we get a new, more conservative administration “some day” we need to remember who those people are and invite them to exercise their retirement option upon pain of dismissal if they don’t step down voluntarily.
As a military veteran myself, I can assure you that my oath was to support and defend the Constitution, not mindlessly obey the Commander In Chief, whoever he might be.
The way you phrased this reminded me of a scene from Band of Brothers, which I re-watched this past month. During the drop on Normandy, Lt Winters had his rifle blown loose as did others. He acquired a weapon at the first opportunity. First a German one then one from a fallen paratrooper.
During the lead up to what was about to be the siege of Bastogne, he ordered one of his subordinates to scrounge weapons, ammo and warm clothing.
Priorities crystalize in war time.
That’s the way troopers (and soldiers but never call a Marine a soldier) think. Just because a tool is not available does not mean the mission is scrubbed.
I don’t know about Army training because other than attending some schools/classes hosted by the Army I don’t know as much about them as I do the Marines. A Marine will adapt, improvise and overcome and I’m sure the U.S. Army has some sort of relevant application of that idea.
As long as there are Citizen Soldiers in America, they are going to be problematic to enemies of The Republic. Some stay in their service as a career, some do a single tour, some do something in between those two end points. That’s a lot of trained and capable Citizen Soldiers to make up a core yeomanry.
It’s the yeomanry that people like Joe want to take rifles away from. They fear the yeomanry because they know that they’re doing things that the American People neither want nor approve. They know that at some point the yeomanry is going to become a serious impediment to their goals. This should be all the warning anyone needs in order to see their purposes are not as altruistic as they claim.
There’s no need to take away rifles unless you know you’re headed somewhere that those rifles will be brought to bear against you.
This frightens Joe and people like him so badly that he foolishly threatened rifle owners with jet fighters and nukes. On some level he (or more likely the person putting words in his mouth) knew that rifles were that much of a danger to his side’s political end game.
