George Floyd is dead, and that is both a crime and a tragedy. From all reports, Mr. Floyd was a drug addict, petty criminal, and what used to be called a “Ne’er-Do-Well”. None of the above justify his murder. His killer(s) should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. That said, the ensuing Riots/Media Circus/Clusterfucks haven’t been about George Floyd, since five minutes after the poor bastard croaked.
“Systemic Racism”, like “Social Justice” is yet another Cultural Marxist catchphrase, used by those trying to show how Woke they are. The very Idea of Systemic Racism is that America is irredeemably flawed at her core. She was founded by Straight White Men, for Straight White Men. No others need apply. Except that this is demonstrably false. The USA is the one place in the entire history of Humanity that your Race, Sex, Orientation, or Proclivities don’t matter! You can go, do, be, and achieve as much or as little as you want, and nobody cares.
And that is what is intolerable to the Left. Nobody cares. Your skin color, who you sleep with, how you self-identify? It’s irrelevant! Do what you want! Be who you are! I’m too busy with my own stuff, over here! We’ll interact when it’s mutually beneficial, but until then, leave me alone. The Left can’t accept this. There’s no Political hay to be made from “Live and Let Live”. They MUST stir things up. You have to care, lest you be labeled a Racist/Sexist/Bigot/Homophobe.
The funny thing about the above labels is that they’re only effective against those who aren’t. You call out a true White Supremacist, and his reaction is “Yeah, and..?” And come to that, how many White Supremacists do you know? How many friends of friends do you know who are White Supremacists? Probably none, because White Supremacy, like all extremism, is a Lunatic Fringe ideology. And yet, for no good reason, we’re committing suicide.
The destruction of monuments to Jefferson Davis, or Robert E Lee are no longer sufficient. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Christopher Columbus, Abraham Lincoln…all have to be razed for not being Woke enough. No good can come from erasing our history. Like a man is the sum of his memories, a nation is the sum of her history. America has not always lived up to her ideals. But, she’s always wanted to. And on balance, She’s been a net positive influence on the world around her. But, fuck that shit. America sucks.
We must have no past and no future. We must exist in George Orwell’s Perpetual Now, wherein the State tells us what is Good and True. Or, better still, a self-imposed Politburo, like that lot in Seattle set up shop and guide us. They have Barricades (Walls), yet, one on our Southern Border is Racist (irony, anyone?). Since when do armed insurrectionists dictate terms in the USA?
In the end, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are just words on paper. What gives them power is the Respect for the Rule of Law, and desire of Civilized Men to be Civilized. Totalitarianism is easy. Just go with the flow. Liberty is hard. Stand and fight. I’m an American (maybe the last one). You can kill me, I won’t back down.
