Right Angle: Backstage (12-27-2022)

This Right Angle Backstage is a whale of a good time, which is more than we can say about a couple of new movies. Thank you, Members, for enabling our dysfunction.

Phonics was adopted in Korea under King Sejong which allowed the Korean language to be ‘sounded out’ as opposed to using Chinese characters as most Asian languages use.

I’m surprised nobody wanted to do a show on the republicans colluding with democrats to pass the omnibus bill. I feel like the republicans just spat in my face. I’m beginning to wonder why I bother to vote for them.

Just think of all the homeless vets they could have housed and fed with the money blown on that Mission Impossible stunt alone. And for what…to entertain you? 1 John 2:15

Enthralled by the moronic VP and its idiot spouse? I was so enthralled that I hit the fast forward button … repeatedly. I refuse to sacrifice my IQ to the gods of such drivel.

the three most dreaded words an engineer does not want to hear: What If We. Spoken by an individual whose authority over the project is inversely proportional to their intelligence.

I didn’t “lose” 2021. 2021 was one of my most memorable. BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! In 2021, I left the big city of Atlanta, Georgia, my home town, and moved to the paradise of a mountain lake in Northeast Georgia. Other than the elephant in the room – losing Trump and getting Biden, who I thought would die of dementia by now – it was a year for which I am forever grateful, in many, many ways. Grateful to you guys for your part in it, too.

“Babylon” was supposed to be the “blockbuster” this Christmas, I believe. Why a self-indulgent look by Hollywood-types at Hollywood when Hollywood started would be worth a ticket purchase is beyond me. Apparently everyone agrees.
Whoa!!! Phenylephrine is speed. Speed decongests. Orally and nasally. Speed also causes a host of problems, the most scary in OTCs is the possibility of heart rhythm disturbances. And let me explain “rebound”. The nose has what is referred to as the “nasal cycle”. Every few hours one side of the nose naturally congests and the other decongests. (When you lie down on your side, that side reflexively congests, too.) This is because of the essential function of the nose – to humidify, filter, and heat the dry, dirty, and cold air we breathe – is to condition that air for our lungs. The sprays for decongestion were here before the FDA and are very, very strong, They over-ride the nasal cycle and decongest so much that you breathe too well through both sides. When it wears off, both sides congest in response, making people spray it in there again. With each spray, the recovery congestion is worse. People get addicted. I love phenylephrine because it brings people to my ENT office.

Keith – thanks for a great description of the nasal cycle. I used to overuse nasal sprays and then switched to a Neti pot and saline to be something other than a mouth breather. Your description almost sounds like one shot in one nostril would not be terrible, just not both at the same time.
Can one “overuse” a Neti pot?

Any shot in either nostril messes things up if you do it more than three days. It’s not a bad thing to use if you have sinusitis, again not for more than three days.
Neti pots cannot be overused, they’re great.
