Right Angle: BACKSTAGE (5/7/2019)

Eavesdrop on the weekly pitch meeting for Right Angle with Bill Whittle, Stephen Green and Scott Ott. What show ideas will rise to the top, and which ones will be tossed on the ash-heap of history…and who will have to host the latter.

Um, plenty of second and further successive dates here. At least until I proposed. Now, my wife won’t let me ask girls on first dates anymore.

You guys help me de-stress after a day in Leftyville. I come home and unwind with right minded friends.

You are, in essence, the People’s Valium. Heh.

Scott, the secret to maintaining the amiable atmosphere of the BW Blog is this: hands off moderation.

There are only two things that will get you booted from the TSL FB page: doxing, and advocating any illegal activity. Everything else is allowed. Consequently, we’ve managed to maintain the same positive atmosphere you enjoy here, for over two years.

From my experience, trusting your members to act like adults makes them want to behave like adults.

The only episode I loyally watch every single week is the backstage. I usually watch at least one regular right angle but not always, and I often watch one or more BWN, but not always.

Bill’s original but abandoned topic: “Deserves to be rewarded”. That’s how I feel about the Bill Whittle Dot Com endeavor. I’m a member because this deserves to be rewarded even if I don’t have the time or sometimes inclination to watch every available episode.

I enjoyed watching one Backstage on YouTube and became interested. Bill Whittle Now is good. I’ve only seen three Stratosphere Lounges. And even though I’ve been married for 29 years, we still date each other; keep the candle lit and sometimes pour on the gasoline.

Second date? What is a date? Watching you guys brainstorm on Backstage is much more entertaining I am sure. Speaking of brainstorms, is that what is happening in Joe Biden’s skull these days or is that some other sort of wind? Just wondering.

As advertised in the content, after watching this episode of Backstage at Bill Whittle.com I find myself exceptionally encouraged in my own talent and abilities… 😀

;-D Just kidding… I’m glad you guys have so much fun doing such a great job with current events from a moral, rational, and fact-based perspective and with “the same great cast with which you started”!

Keep up the great work and the great fun…

I watch every second of every backstage. I have been married 25 years and my wife and I still date. I am four episodes behind on TSL, which is what, about fifteen hours?

Scott, some highlights from Backstage could be released as a teaser for new members. I love watching it before all of the others. Maybe start with one of your typical intros, then to Steve’s joke of the week, and then to Bill’s self deprecation? Idk… I think a 3 minute thing would be great to throw out there.

That’s a great, idea.
I have it on high authority that Scott is looking for more to do, to keep him out of trouble. 😉

Add me into the list of people who have watched and enjoyed and have had 2nd dates, all the Backstage episodes. The joking, jabbing, laughing informality adds a whole new dimension. I know I have said this before but if there are people who have not seen it, Backstage 10/18/16 had me laughing to the point of tears. Starting about the 26m mark, you kept feeding off each other until by 30m Bill was laughing so hard he was snorting.

Didn’t wanna spend the monies for AirPods, but my EarPods are the only in-ear headphones that I find comfortable for more than 20min.

Bill: when you were talking about Uber being one of the best ideas, I thought back to one of your Eject essays when you talked about the creation of wealth. It was the pencil $x, legal pad $x, blockbuster movie $x million example.

Uber really doesn’t “have” anything except good will and the app network to link drivers and riders. It seems like that would be a very fragile existance for a company, even more so than most of the social media networks which at least have inertia in the number of people that maintain connections and thus don’t want to switch from Twitter to Gab (for example).

As such, if Uber is treating their drivers poorly I don’t know why they don’t switch over to Lyft or just stop driving. Sure, they need the money (especially so if they quit another job to drive) but people leave businesses that treat them poorly all the time to look for better jobs.

A side note… Scott: your camera/lighting seems the best of the three. Your image is the most clear of the guys but you also moving around the most. I don’t know if that is why your audio cuts out occasionally or if you spent more on your camera and less on your mic than the other guys.

We all use the same cameras. I’ve had a lot of professional advice on the lighting setup, and followed it. My microphone is excellent (Shure SM7B), but the occasional audio drops and glitches are due to the advanced age of the computer doing the recording. I frequently have to edit out disturbing video glitches from Bill Whittle Now. Thanks for your careful attention to our programming, Karl.

I have not only watched but enjoyed every episode of Backstage, although I have fallen a little behind Stratosphere Lounge (somewhere between 100th and 200th episode). I also have been on a second date once or twice.
But what I enjoy about my job and also Backstage is watching men spar with each other, with words not jabs. Might even beat that second date idea…

I was on the libertarian forum where Uber was first mooted and developed. Many Uber drivers do not account for the additional wear and tear on their car so they are going backwards financially not understanding why and blaming Uber which points out the added wear and tear in the application. Uber has also discovered it has an additional cost. Screening for criminals is an industry so governments have begin billing Uber, etc for the crime check.
