Runs with a Mandate: Can Newsom Fend Off Elder with Promise to Keep Californians Muzzled?

Newsom attacks Republican Larry Elder (and no one else), but the governor seems to think that Californians want to keep the mask mandate and that he can scare voters by saying that Elder will end it.

The campaign to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom and his effort to fend off that recall come down to a single issue. Newsom attacks Republican Larry Elder (and no one else), but the governor seems to think that Californians want to keep the mask mandate and that he can scare voters by saying that Elder will end it.

“SHIP of FOOLS” is no better description of #46 and his Social Justice feckless, spineless and cowardly administration. Not ONLY are they FOOLS (“Smart Stupid”) but absolute LIARS. WHAT? is HORRiFYING is that “THEY” to this point are getting away with THE BIG LIES meaning NO CONSEQUENCES. Theyb do not hgave a Captain or General to Lead.

The TOTALITARIAN World is laughing at the DO NOTHING Americans. Once again as obama did in his 8 years of FAILURE, #46 continues on steroids to accomplish without waver the EXACT SAME. WHEN? will the Military learn from EVERY War fought since WWII to not engage unless the Plan & Strategy is to WIN, period. FAILURE should not be repeated over and over again. Albert Einstein was 100% correct in his definition of INSANITY where an individual, group and/or government engages in the EXACT same behavior over & over again then going back to demonstrate that same behavior each & every time expecting to get a very different result BUT in FACT gets the exact SAME result again and again. That is the definition of INSANE. #46 & the “Fascistic Socialists”/AMERICAN MARXISM & the Gaggle Party of INSANITY, ANTI-AMERICANism, FRAUD & TOTALITARIANISM are in an Ocean of “Stupid is Stupid” & have no escape route.

I looked up the size of the c-19 virus and it is 0.3 microns in diameter. I’ve not personally determined the spacing of the fibers in either the cloth or paper masks, but I find it hard to believe the gaps are small enough to block the virus.

After checking a few places for the rules, it seems there will be between 30 and 38 days after the election before Newsome would have to leave office.
Here is my bold and absurdly slimy prediction should Newsome lose:
1) Newsome resigns
2) Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis takes over for those 30 days making her the Stats first female governor. Setting up a nice spot for her to campaign against Elder in less than 2 years.
3) Senator Feinstein declares poor health and resigns.
4) Gov Kounalakis appoints Newsome to Senate.
Yes, this is incredibly bad optics. But would you really put this past California and Democrat politicians to do something this wrong?
They would just say we couldn’t let Gov Elder appoint someone.

i wouldn’t be too quick to assume newsom is history. the track record of voters in kalifornia is abysmal. they continue to put those in charge who hate america and although there are millions who understand that is an evil road to go down there are many millions more who agee with that nefarious chicanery and consistently vote the wrong way as proof. for every larry elder there are ten dozen nancy palosi clones running around destroying our constitutional republic. additionally kalifornia has stealing, cheating and lying about the cheating and stealing down to a science and nothing i’ve seen has or is being done to correct that cancerous puss. in the end, newsom will be reelected (honestly or not really doesn’t matter does it?) and larry will go back to chirping and smiling.

I see same thing in media with Ron Desantis. He banned mask mandates in FL, but every news story that mentions it says he banned masks. The liberal mind doesn’t want free will, they want to be told what to do.

Steve said “this is what gets me. Dem adds say Republican power grab, if you elect Larry Elder Republicans will stop telling you what to do”
Zo said “Rascist”
Bill said “They will figure a way to work that one in too”
What the Guys may have missed was the LAT editorial with the title “Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy”
And the Karen’s nod their head.

If you want to win an election the very last thing you should be doing is putting your opponent’s face on your own ads. That’s free publicity for Larry Elder.

I saw that too, on an actual ballot. It was in a video but I have no reason to doubt the truth of it. Whether they dare do that sufficient to steal another election is a different matter but those holes are mighty suspicious either way.

I have a California ballot, and mine does not have the hole shown in that video.
It may be one particular county, however, as each county has their own system

I am in CA. Voted the day after I got my ballot. Yes, there are odd holes punched in the envelope. When I put my ballot in, I noticed you could see the ballot inside. There was no real purpose for the holes. The ballot had scored lines and it was supposed to be folded the way it came. I folded the ballot differently and you could not see the mark to recall. However, I also noticed that the envelope was made from a lower count paper. Thinner. There were so many people running for governor that it took up both sides of the ballot. Names were not alphabetical. I had to look for Elder. Top side of ballot was yes or no to recall. And everything else from there to the other side listed who was running. Long ballot, both sides filled with choices. So when I refolded, I could hide my YES vote to recall, but you could see though the envelope if I had blackened another circle. One way or the other, one can see. I dropped off my vote and received a text stating that it was there. And another text that it had been counted.
If people want to cheat, they will find a way. I just wish those people who harvest ballots (like the guy who just got caught in SFO? with 300 in his car) would be prosecuted and GO TO JAIL Why is it that people on the ground, who carry out the fraud, get off Scott FREE??? If more were charged, and it was made public that they were severely fined or jailed, maybe it would curtail some of the cheating. Why are they untouchable?

I greatly admire Mr. Elder for risking the success of his campaign by taking a stand on such a controversial issue – a refreshing change from the typical professional politician mealy mouth self-promotion. Not only does he provide a chance for the voters to steer policy (now there’s a novel concept), if it proves unpopular, it saves him the headaches of being forced to serve an electorate that’s headed in a direction he has no inclination to lead.

True but serving as a Governor is a step on the ladder to the Presidency. We need a President like him, I just wish he had the business experience Trump has. We’ll see what we’ll see.

There’s no question we the people benefit from the perspective of successful business experience brought to governance, but when it comes to hiring public officials, I’ll take a solid grounding in American constitutional ideology and the facility to articulate it over popular pragmatism any day. Life is a series of tradeoffs though, so to each his own. With one we got the experience that can only be gained by administering complex productivity, with the other the discernment to better steer it where we desperately need it to go.

I agree. I liked Trump and his policies a lot but he often put his foot in it, adding much to my liberal friends ammunition. Having lots of business savvy is very valuable-more politicians should have it- but doesn’t make one successful politically. We need a mixture. Is there such a beast?

To be sure, it’s a tall order, particularly now that virtually the entire administrative state is leftist and they have weaponized the justice system to destroy anyone daring to challenge the statist agenda.

Election fraud is so widespread and deeply entrenched, it doesn’t make a hill of beans difference what the people of California want. Even if they vote for Elder, Newsome will just keep pulling ballots out from under the table until he has enough to win.

Unless he’s sacrificed to say-see, obviously there’s no election fraud! The corrupt leftists know California will come back under their thumb-in a short time. They see history.

Covid Safety-ism has become a religion – the mask is the outward sign of those who practice this religion; they will never take it off. Their commandment is to tyrannize those who refuse to join them.

This is what happens when people have no purpose beyond self-pleasure and aggrandizement. They are empty vessels, filling themselves with devotion to “Dear Leader”, seeking relief from responsibility for themselves. The only sacrifice is giving up all freedom. Freedom is too scary for these helpless morons to handle. Better to empower Nanny(state) and Aunt Karen to make their decisions for them and eliminate life choices beyond blind, constant obedience to the whims of their masters.

You know where these people would be happiest? In a gulag populated with their own kind. Do them a favor. Round ’em up and acquaint them with their Covidtopia. Maybe with them out of the way the rest of us who value autonomy can live in peace.

Back a few years (when I still lived there) ago Californians voted to ban gay marriage at the state level. A federal court overturned that. Which isn’t surprising all considered but …

The lesson from that is there is a large silent majority in California. It might be wishful thinking but I’m hoping that majority speaks as it did that one time before and puts Larry Elder into the Governor’s Mansion.

But …

It’s all academic to me, I’m not moving back there no matter what happens. Even if Californians elect Larry Elder — Doing one right thing does not offset all the wrong things about California and Californians. Even if Larry Elder becomes Governor he won’t be a Governor very long. Oh, he may serve a full term but as soon as things approach anything like normal and responsible in California government the voting populace will crawl back down its leftist hole. Because …

It’s been my observation that Californians are incapable of learning from past mistakes and will only move towards the short term solution that suits them.

I hope so too. I realize there are a lot of good people still stuck in that place.

I remember going out to California to visit when I was a kid, it was pretty nice out there then and we all envied the family members that “got” to live there. We would go to the beaches and play in the ocean, visit the amusement parks, and spend a day at Universal Studios. It was a blast and some of the best memories of my childhood.

When I moved there San Pedro was a nice suburban “bedroom community” for port workers and such. If you stayed out of the projects down below Gaffey at Rancho San Pedro you were OK. Ports O’ Call was a fun place to spend an afternoon walking around and eating. The Fish Market was great. You never saw a homeless drug addict anywhere.

When I left there were gang tags everywhere in the alley behind my home, drive by shootings that we couldn’t even get the cops to come to investigate and Ports O’ Call was a boarded up ghost town on the water. There were homeless addicts begging on Gaffey (the main street of San Pedro in case you’re not familiar with that area) and there were homeless encampments all over the place. It took a day to drive to Riverside and back so you’d better pack a lunch.

Since I left the homeless situation has gotten much worse, there’s for gawds-sake bubonic plague downtown LA and it seems to me like the foxes are running the henhouse. My sympathies lie with the chickens …

I hope Larry Elder wins and if he does it can mean nothing but good for California. I’m just afraid it’s gone past the point of no return and not even another Ronald Reagan could save it.

California is going to collapse if that’s the case. I hope you don’t live in Los Angeles or San Francisco. Most of the more rural areas are still pretty decent but they can no longer out-vote the metro areas.

Homeless problems are out of control in LA. Orange County is a better, but there are sections in the OC that have some of the Leftist problem.
