Since recording this video, Variety.com suggests that SNL hired Gillis because he’s conservative to make up for its striking lack of non-Liberal performers. Long-running producer Lorne Michaels apologizes saying Gillis was not subjected to their normal exhaustive vetting process. Gillis issues a “sort of” apology on Twitter in the wake of his Saturday night massacre. Is comedy dead?

Carlin never stopped pointing out the stupidity until he passed. He was fairly liberal in some of his stances, but if you read his biography, you can tell he was more of a libertarian.
Something else, and of great irony, that a Facebook-state enforcing nothing said that anyone could take offense is that it is a very BORING place. Everything is plain, not even vanilla since even a good vanilla bean would get someone unhappy.
That a comedy show, intending to entertain us and in slightly less than clean ways would try to make everything as bland and tasteless (as opposed to tasteless jokes, which are fine when told against Republicans) strikes me as the height of irony.
I haven’t watched SNL in decades. No longer funny. Keep on mocking, Bill!

Point of information. Jim Jeffries is an Australian, now working in the States. His early stuff is hilarious and very, very full on. Now he’s being absorbed by the Hollywood Borg Collective.
