Looking for some help from the country & western fans out there. I’ve never been a fan of the genre, but back in the late 70s / early 80s I remember this song being a thing. Is it still a thing and now considered a classic, or did it not stand test of time?
And in a song that I would best describe as “Thrash Country”, He is risen. And building hot rods.
Happy Easter to you & your families!

I remember “Drop Kick me Jesus” and Billy Bare when it came out, but as a long time Country Western listener, to answer your question, no, it didn’t stand the test of time. As I say, i listen to it a lot, and I haven’t heard that one in decades.
Thanks for posting. I had heard a rumor that there were people that didn’t like the above mentioned genre. I found it hard to believe, but at only 65, there are still things that I need to learn. “Drop Kick me Jesus…” sounds a whole lot better without the camera man adding his voice, it’s a good 2 step song. Great response, thank you! The thing about country for me is while I like all of the subject matter from “Songs About Me”, I’m just not a fan of the country sound in general – if you put those same lyrics to a metal beat it would probably be one of my all time favorites. Thanks again for sharing!
If we all liked the same stuff, life would get boring pretty fast. I like “some” of all different styles of music, except, perhaps, “gangsta” rap. Not so much the sound but the lyrics.
