Science Makes Fear but Not Comfort as COVID-19 Curve Flattens

Now that the data show the COVID-19 curve flattening, the voices that were demanding that we listen to the science seem deaf to the current science. How is is that science makes fear but not comfort?

I watched the video Bill referenced, before YouTube removed it. A significant point Dr. Erickson made was the sharp up-tick in reports on domestic and child abuse as it coincides with stay-in-place directives. He said the long-term effects of abuse will continue for a lifetime after Covid-19. I agree with him.

A couple observations. I think combined with TDS is the idea that just like outrage/anger can become addictive, so can hysteria and panic. Our friends on the left are addicted to panic. It can be anything: pesticides, climate change, a virus. Their state never changes, simply their focus. I also think a lot of these politicians are looking at their poll numbers: while they are becoming unpopular for continuing an unjustified shut down, my guess is they are more worried about opening up and being blamed for an increase in cases. It’s all about getting re elected. Add that to the power trip so many are on, and it’s a pretty strong incentive to keep things locked down, reality be damned.

Here is what bothers me about this entire scenario…. In my opinion ANYBODY who thinks that staying home will make a long term difference is really kidding themselves. The only information I have is from the MSM and sources like BW.com. Assuming everything about this Covid-19 event we have been told by the media is true, where the virus came from, deaths, effectiveness of drugs, etc, etc. Does ANYBODY really think China has not taken notice of the self destruction of the American economy, panic buying of toilet paper the open warfare between the democrats, media and Trump, threats of food shortages, the paranoia and all the other crazy things we have seen? I have not heard one thing about China saying woops, sorry or anything other than blame the US military. You got to assume that the communist Chinese government had some goal in all of this. They could not have killed 60 plus thousand Americans in a couple months with out being held accountable any other way. Not to be a Debbie Downer but why wouldn’t China just release Covid-20 and finish the job on America if they even need too? The reason why, again in my opinion, at this point it seems the state governments and the media are trying to finish the job for them with the goal of getting Trump out.

the reason China did not release Covid-19 on purpose, and will not release Covid-20 on purpose is “plausible deniability”. It would be an act of war.

That China is taking advantage of a bad situation is clear from the fact that they shut down, in Jan. , flights from Wuhan to Bejing, but not flights from Wuhan to SFO.

No, Scott, I don’t feel like I know everything, but I would give much more credibility to the doomsday crowd if they weren’t deliberately lying with their data and actively slandering and silencing any opposing viewpoints and scientific data!

The left of the left INTEND to cause maximum harm to the maximum number. They hate the fact that they are responsible for being human and willfully and maliciously work to destroy the products of the minds of other humans. It is not that they want to live at your expense, they want you do die the most agonizing and painful death as possible. This even and especially if it causes their own extinction. Their hope is that they go extinct only after they get to watch you going extinct with maximum agony.

No matter what they say, they do not have your best interests at heart.

I think it’s increasingly looking like Trump’s opponent isn’t going to be “that guy who doesn’t know which year it is.” I’m expecting a dark horse nominee from the wings at the convention. The only thing that makes me second guess that is that everybody seems to be in a rush to endorse Biden now. It’ll be a lot of egg on their faces and require backpedaling, but being Democrat means never having to say you’re sorry, so that may not be as big an obstacle as it seems at first blush…

Super. I shared this episode on social media. Excellent session. However, beyond a great Right Angle what about preparing a separate video or record another video of only the last extended comments by Bill so it could be shared as a stand-alone clip?

The goal was to exercise a controlled release of societal interaction in order to optimally saturate medical facilities. Like controlling a faucet spigot releasing the enormous load of inevitable infections. It was understood that there would be a 2 week lag (due to the incubation time) and therefore imperfect feedback loop, but one that we would improve on the fly. Not preserve clean room standards indefinately.

We will always have the rich and the poor among us, but it’s the middle class that took centuries to achieve and lent stability to Western democracies, with the family as its backbone … an achievement over a thousand years in the making. Progressives instinctively have contempt for every aspect of middle America.

We thought the culture war might take a timeout for COVID. We were wrong – it’s becoming a Pox on the Middle Class.
