Science?

Has anyone noticed that science news aggregators are leaning so far left that there’s no science left?

God have mercy on us. Now “trusted studies”, by experts, no less, have found that porous materials are unfavorable for Wuhan Flu survival. I think I’m going to develop a medical condition that exempts me from masks and other unconstitutional edicts by our wannabe masters.

They don’t understand the price they and we will pay when their masters come calling.

I’ve read recently that conservatives caused the last ice age, and now they’re driving global disaster by blowing more swamp gas and hot air than Krakatoa did.

God and fair voting can save us. We have to tend to the latter. Soon.

#1 Pop science as reported in popular media is not true science. If you want true science it is behind a paywall.
#2. If your god was going to “save” you it would have, wouldn’t it?

Re: #2
Lol. Gotta love when an Anti-theist decides to input their two sense. Can’t allow people to have belief systems that don’t comport with your “understanding” of the world, now can we?

Better question YOU should be asking yourself: Why is it so important to your identity that there is no power higher than yourself?

It IS important to your identity, btw. You remind me of a fun joke: How do you know that a vegan is at a party? Don’t worry, they will tell you.

I recommend you go do some real serious introspective thinking for awhile. You appear to be militintly allowing your identity heuristics to cause you to lash out whenever you see something that threatens one of those heuristics.

It’s not a healthy place to be. I suggest reading some Marcus Aurelius to start developing a baseline stoicism. It will help you temper the instinct to attack perceived threats to your identity heuristics so you can get past pedantry and develop your mind into a useful tool instead of an immune system for the ephemeral concept of personal identity.

Good luck!

I’m not speaking for or commenting about Gallstones, just relating my own experience.

After having doubts and doing a lot of questioning ever since I can remember, I stopped doing religion over 20 years ago. Early on in that, I definitely went through a phase of bringing it up way too much. I basically had the fanaticism of any new convert. After a while, though, I got over it. Now I only bring it up when it seems relevant and I think I can gain some knowledge or wisdom from the ensuing discussion, if any – like now, for instance. I’ve never felt threatened by anyone’s disagreement, only either intrigued or apathetic. Never insulted, either – it’s all but impossible to offend me. I’ll either take potential insults as feedback to use for introspection or dismiss them when I know they’re inaccurate or otherwise baseless.

Better clear out all those strawmen and we will see if there is anything of substance to discuss.

Scott showed me how to edit, so this is more a reply to the folks who’ve commented.

Re: #1, I realize that pop science doesn’t go into technical details very often. The problem I have is with the nearly illiterate writers who popularize the work done. In reading some of puffery produced under grant, I am struck by the “studies” done that reinforce things we have known for decades, if not longer, but now they’re being propped up by “studies”, that when read in detail have no details.

Like the leftist arguments on gender identity or minimum wage…

Re: #2, I said that in the same way one might say “God save the Queen”, and you damned well know it.

Best (or worst, arguably) example of that that I’ve seen – the “Summary for Policy Makers” written about the original IPCC report on global warming/climate change. It simply reversed the conclusion of the report, which said that there wasn’t a problem and human activity had no real effect. The summary said precisely the opposite and so-called science reporters just took that and ran with it without checking its claims against the original. As a result, here we are with a worldwide effort to shut down civilization.

Not having access to the inside of your head I damn well can’t know what you mean. All I have are the words.
