Rioters who damaged statues and monuments should be tasked with restoring them to their original pre-riot condition, and not merely fined or jailed. Give them as much time as they need.

The January sixth hearings feel wrong, and even the hardest , elite Left must be full on “Emperor’s Clothes” by now, with the limited knowledge Left recognizing the naked politicians everywhere behind the dais.
I wouldn’t be against the Dems continuing prime time programming about the “insurrection” indefinitely, screaming like “Chicken Little” until the sky actually falls on them.

Scott notes the obvious… the entire kabuki theater is simply a wealth transfer from the Treasury to the DNC.
First, I would like to go on record as stating that the 2020 election had way more than enough corruption/fraud to overturn the results (see Rigged, True the Vote & 2000 Mules), and certainly a large portion of the electorate smelled that pile of dung from the get-go! That being said, then the American people had every right, nay, they had the actual duty, to try any reasonable means possible to prevent the wrongful certification of the corrupted election results, and therefore had every reason to be at and in the Capitol building on that day!!! The now fully exposed corrupt partisan Deep State agencies, failed in their duty to the people and the country, in playing out their partisan collusion, while the courts, all the way up to the Supreme Court, also failed to properly hear and adjudicate on these matters. What other recourse was then open to the American people?
I stand by what I have said elsewhere.
I don’t like it, I don’t advocate it, I don’t condone it, I had hoped to die of old age without ever getting to this point, much less its logical (and I believe inevitable) follow-on.
But the fact is that the soap box, the ballot box and the jury box have all provably failed, and everybody knows it. What’s more, some on the “winning” side not only know it, they aren’t merely admitting it, they’re crowing about it.
To me that’s one of the scarier aspects of all this. They appear to be actively trying to bring about a civil war. They seem unable to grasp the concept that the only true winners of a civil war are the undertakers and the ravens.
Either that or the ravens are the ones they are actually rooting for.
Why do we keep allowing the left to hold us to whatever standards they wish to apply while never holding themselves to any standard? Because we have no choice in the matter. They’ve taken the proverbial high ground in this civil war and we’re floundering in the backwaters.

Scott, I know you play Devils Advocat a lot in these, but “This isn’t like the Nazis, Soviets, etc” is just wrong.
Political prisoners facing 20 years in prison for trespassing, gubernatorial candidates getting arrested, show trials, top leaders of one party calling for the assassination of judges – which line will they have to cross before we start applying the label?
Scott’s words do not indicate a Devil’s Advocate role in this case. Unfortunately, his opinion is not unique, and such divisions based upon naiveté are detrimental to our liberty. Ironically, our individual liberty is dependent upon our collective resistance to leftist tyranny, which is replete on all sides of the political aisles in Washington D.C.
I understand that a lot of people feel like you do and that you have cause is beyond doubt. But no, it’s not like the Nazis and the Soviets … yet. Though it is certainly heading that direction.
“Heading that direction” is the natural course of events in human history. America is an historical anomaly. The Democrat Left has historical inertia working for it. It has taken an amazing effort of human will and Divine Providence for us to get this far. America is unique and exceptional and will remain so as long as Americans feel the experiment is worth the effort.
The shape of that effort is vital. To use an analogy from Lord of the Rings, the power of the shadow is growing stronger every day. Anything that feeds the power of that shadow works against us.
The neo-Marxist Left would like nothing better than for strong rhetoric to lead to strong, openly violent action. Even when the rhetoric doesn’t call for violence, if it can be twisted to seem that way that works too. That is why choosing words carefully is vital. Much as I liked Trump as a President (and I did, I voted for him twice) this careful, calculating cholse of words is not something he was good at. To be fair, that disregard for the principles of political wrangling was also one of his great strengths as POTUS.
This warping of meaning is exactly what we’re seeing in this ridiculous “show trial” but … No one is watching it. Sure there are a comparative few but they’re just watching for their own political porn. They would agree with this maneuver and this sort of tactic no matter what. They are lost to the ideals of our Republic but there have always been such people.
The reason we’re not there yet is obvious. In Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union (and the People’s Republic of China and more) the State is omnipotent. If the people in control of those regimes decided to do something, there was no way to stop them. We are nearly at that point now with the Democrat Left and our Republic walks on a knife edge. Only two unreliable Democrats at this moment stand between us and disaster.
Unlike the Nazis and the Soviets, what the Democrat Left does can be undone. The Democrat Left is still restrained by Rule of Law, Freedom of Speech and other foundational American principles. We can be certain this is so because they are so vigorously attacking those very principles. That’s what stands between them and their will towards irresistible force.
They too walk a knife’s edge because they appear to be gambling in an all-or-nothing bet on achieving their goal of total power. They either think their time has come OR they believe they are close enough to merit that gamble. But …
They’re listening to the wrong people to draw that conclusion. They are believing their lickspittle media lackeys and and the vast but loud minorities from sources like Twitter. They are believing their own propaganda. They are ignoring the Will of the people because they do not believe The People will stop them. There are historical reasons for them to think that too.
I.E. the Reichstag Fire … These idiots who trespassed in the Capitol Building gave the Democrat Left the excuse they were hoping and praying for. Their motives may have been good but like I said — “Anything that feeds that power works against us.” Those nitwits played right into the hands of our political adversaries, they only thing they could have done worse is to kill someone. That they had no more chance of overthrowing our government than the cleaning crew that nightly “occupies” the Capitol Building is immaterial to the Democrat Left.
The Democrat Left seized on this one incident in the same manor Hitler did with the Reichstag Fire. In that way they are like the Nazis but there are a lot of ways the Nation has not yet come to the sort of crisis that put the Nazis in power. Hitler used the Reichstag Fire to seize ultimate power and yes, like the Nazis the Democrat Left is trying to do the same thing.
They’re not succeeding. News coverage numbers prove that. This is going to backfire on them badly in the same manner “Ultra MAGA” did.
What worked in Nazi Germany isn’t working here. Not the least of which is the reason that though there are similarities but it’s not the same thing at all. Despite what the Democrat Left tells us, we’re not buying it and that is also an example of both why we’re “not there yet” and American exceptionalism.
Which is not to say that the Democrat Left isn’t using the tactics of the Nazis and the Soviets. They certainly are doing that and I think at some level they know it.
The reason I went to the trouble to write all this out is because we on the Right need to be very, very careful now. Especially right now. We have hotheads on our side too, as was proven beyond a doubt with the events of January 6th. I’m not advocating a manner of speech that precludes triggering the most stupid and most volatile among us but at the same time if we run around calling people Nazis that feeds right into that sort of mentality. This is something the Democrat Left wants badly from our side.
Worse yet, you know how it is with the Democrat Left calling everyone who opposes them a racist or a bigot? Well if we hyperbolically overuse “Nazi” the same dilution of meaning and impact will ensue. The Democrat Left wants that too.
You can certainly speak your mind and say what you like. I’m not telling you what you should say or how you should say it. I’m pointing out that Scott was neither naïve nor playing Devil’s Advocate but demonstrating wisdom and wisdom is a saving virtue of our side.
Fair points. I’m just done playing fair with people who make no effort to hide how much they hate me and feel they are above any kind of rules or laws. I do completely agree with you on the “We’re not there yet” point, and no culture got to “there” without a few stops along the way. Right now I see us at one of those stops and want to start raising the alarms.

I understand your frustration and disgust completely.
Stop and consider for a moment what this must be like for someone like me. I’m very highly trained in constructive and destructive violence. Violence is a tool I understand well and am proficient in its application. For a significant part of my life I was a tool of violence to be applied to my country’s problems. When diplomacy fails and it absolutely, positively has to be destroyed overnight … I was one of the people whose task was to make that happen. Semper Fi.
In addition to combat operations both overt and clandestine, I’ve seen a civil war up close and personal so unlike almost everyone I know … I know deep down in my guts what the realities of this sort of thing are.
I can be pretty bloody minded at times thereby.
I would love nothing better than to stomp these nitwits, traitors, cry babies, cry bullies, cowards, sophists, anti-Americans and enemies of everything I hold to be worthwhile … into a nice consistent, creamy mash of low grade fertilizer and lovely scarlet mud.
So I reckon if I can keep my cool about this stuff, and remain circumspect, if I can apply wisdom and sagacity to our current situation … Then it is not at all unreasonable of me to ask others to do the same. Because that’s what it will take to win this and the gratification of anger is always, always a mistake.
By all means, sound the alarm as much as you like. But I and other people like me would really appreciate it if you and others would at least consider what I’m saying, and what people like Scott say. Scott’s right to try to see all sides of this thing and he’s right to try to tone down the rhetoric now and then. Fight smart not hard, and never, ever fight angry.

First off, never refer to 1/6 as an “insurrection” (unless you’re air quoting it, of course) – the proper name for it is the January 6 Reichstag Fire.
Another point of terminology – let’s drop “Never Trump Republicans” – VIchy Republicans has a much nicer ring to it
