I think it’s possible that after he wins the “nomination” the dems will turn on him in the last second and appoint someone else, claiming he’s not mentally fit to run.
I’m going to guess no. As the official party candidate I’d expect more true believers working for his campaign than some of the others. A little more vetting done by actually competent people (unlike.. Bloomberg’s? “here’s some money” method).
Personally I’m leaning more in the “if this is the best they got, what are they leaving on the cutting room floor?” camp.
