It was ever that way since the Surrender Monkey took the con.
No need for money, people just better themselves, as defined by someone else, of course. Next Generation needed a Harcourt Fenton Mudd. And the Ferengi just didn’t cut it.
It’s a shame, but I no longer give a crap about what happens in Official Star Trek land. Haven’t for quite a while, actually. Far cry from the series that taught you in unequivocal terms the concepts of balance of power, the futility of an endless clinical war and an understanding of the “War is Hell” as a deterrent.
And an oddly prescient episode about a fool who modeled a government on an evil example which got hijacked, and who was kept drugged as a figurehead.
However – check out Doomcock’s take on what is ACTUALLY going on inside of ViacomCBS.
They have nuked the franchise into oblivion and they are in ratings freefall and utter panic.
