His Democrat presidential rivals have outed Mayor Pete Buttigieg for his private-sector work as a McKinsey consultant, and forced him to explain it away. Will success shaming catapult Democrats to victory in 2020, or are there still enough Democratic voters who don’t work for government to steer the party away from bashing business — the engine that enables government to give away free college, free health care and more?

Another name for a life of “public service” is “career politician”. That’s why there should be term limits for every elected political office.
Hey Bill — Thank you for pointing out to me what an absolute “Cad” I am… My gosh.. all these years and I thought that not having a personal life, missing stuff with my kids, consoling people who lost loved ones, arresting (some dangerous) bad guys.. up all night searching for a lost hunter and a plethora of other fun things added up to, at least a minor form of public service ?? (oh, I forgot, a comfortable but by no means excessive income…. Gotta pay those bills !! Cheese… Think I’ll quit tomorrow My Point??
There is a HUGE number of Public Servants who don’t really fit into your argument/statement….. Most LE Officers, fireman, military etc… Actually, I got your point. Just don’t like being lumped into the “Washington” crowd… I am an elected official, but a whole different species…… just sayin’ — Thanks
fellow Karl, I don’t think Bill was trying to lump you in with the Washington parasites. They were the ones trying to lump themselves in with you, claiming to be public servants so we would think of them as we think of the people paid by the govt to put their lives on the line or do some other unpleasant but necessary duty (teachers come to mind, various inspectors, non-LE workers in the criminal justice realm (public defenders in some cases, janitors in jails can’t have an easy life, etc)).
I also usually lump the various bureaucrats and staffers that fill the enormous org charts of unneeded government offices with the elected politicians leaching off the private sector production. Security (fire, police, medical) is like customer service in a way. Necessary, and the less you spend on it the more it hurts your output. Spend enough and things work so much better. We don’t need so many IRS agents that they can pick over 501c3 applications for people trying to do good and toss the ones with the “wrong” names.
Hey Karl (glad to see you spell it correctly-lol) – Your point is well taken and as I said I do understand Bills point… It’s just that I sometimes get a little frustrated being “lumped” – A great many others claim that lumping them is wrong, but we get lumped all the time (By Obama and his ilk, for one example)– was just popping off. I know Bill,Steve and Scott would not intentionally kick us without good reason, so now I feel better and appreciate your reply — Have a very Merry Christmas or Hanukkah if that applies…. Oh heck, hope they both are wonderful for you — 🙂
Heated hydrogen is lighter than hydrogen at room temperature.
Just as hot air is lighter than room temperature air.
Politicians are experts on hot gas.
Tepid Sustainability!!! hahahahaha
Where is the nearest Awol-mart? I need to do some Christmas shopping.
The insidious manipulations that Bill ascribed to Rahm Emanuel and Barrack Obama are defined in another context as Taqiyya (https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/06/video-ex-muslim-explains-the-ways-lying-is-allowed-and-encouraged-in-islamic-law), which is defined as deceit. This is a reprehensible trait in any public servant.
