The most striking symbol of subjugation and condemnation I can think of, is the forcing of Jews to wear the star of David in nazi Germany, but there are many such symbols;
Communists in china for the families of those executed, to pay for the bullet.
Antifa/leftists labeling as ‘fascist’ or ‘white supremacist’ at anyone they don’t like as a means of signifying that the person is ‘unclean’ and should be attacked, and anyone who associates with them will also be considered ‘unclean’.

My question; while there may be some limited evidence of mask usage being effective as slowing the spread of the wu-flu, how much of the mandated use of masks is nothing more than a symbol of subjugation?
To be clear, I am aware that the politicians mandating masks are not likely consciously considering them in that way, but we all know we decide things based on how we feel, not how we think, and politicians feel they want power, so they find ways to justify expressing that power – through forcing healthy people to wear masks…?
Am I reading to much into this? Am I letting my frustration get the better of me and unjustly assuming malign motivation in others?

I have heard that when as little as 10% of the population ignores any order, that order becomes practically unenforceable. Unfortunately, enough people were indoctrinated with ghost stories about the invisible wu-flu monster lurking in a dark corner ready to attack. So they willingly comply to the outrageous orders. None of these edicts have the force of law behind them; or the many government officials would be under arrest for breaking it.
It is the Nazi flag in the window of your shop to keep the brown shirts from harassing you, nothing more. It is forced compliance. As will be the required vaccination ID card, which is akin to the mark of the beast from Revelation. Soon there will be an app on your phone that will be read by a device at the entrance of stores. If you have not been vaccinated, you will not be allowed to shop. It is all about power and control. The gov’t is using Big Tech and Big Business to enact the draconian policies they cannot implement via regulation, because lets face it, our politicians no longer legislate. When you have the talking heads of the MSM saying that lockdowns work, because Israel has done it three times, they do not process what they are saying, just parrot the authorized talking points. When they scream up and down that people buying up the masks when the gov’t says you do not need them and you are killing healthcare workers, then a month later scream up and down that people are not wearing masks, there is no though process, just zombified repetition of what they are told to believe. The WHO was the ultimate authority, and Big Tech blocked and banned people who posted anything disparaging against the WHO, that is until the WHO said lockdowns are not effective, and are doing more harm than good. Then suddenly the WHO was not the ultimate authority. What should have happened is that the vulnerable should have been protected while the rest of us went about our lives, building up herd immunity. During the Spring and Summer, the gov’t should have told everyone to get outside and enjoy the weather, because influenza viruses do not like warm sunny weather. Florida is a prime example. They probably have the oldest population due to the large number of retired people living there, yet they had a fraction of the deaths of NY and NJ, which combined with PA & MI, purposely infected nursing homes, killing thousands. The other issue is the medical industry counting people dying with C-19 instead of people who died from C-19. Medicare gives a 20% bump to C-19 cases, and as a business that was forced to stop performing functions that consist of 90% of their income, the hospitals are going to list as many C-19 deaths as possible. We are heading full speed into 1984, and the left has cut the brake lines and ripped off the steering wheel.

It is blatantly obvious that the oligarchs want us obedient and controlled.
This newest form of marking the subjugated with a visible flag not only provides those in power an indication of compliance, it also is a form of warfare against our individuality. When people are emotionally and mentally drained of resistance, then the outward submission always follows. We must declare em masse, “Let Grandma hide, I will not comply!”
Spot on, Today! Absolutely! The dehumanizing face masks reduce that signature of human interaction that is facial expression.
Then, we are subtly reduced from humans to walking risk factors. There is no doubt that this is a scourge.
