Will you take the coming COVID-19 shot? Will you do it for yourself, for others, or because it’s your patriotic duty? Will you be more likely to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus because everybody’s doing it — social pressure? Will it require government coercion to get you to roll up your sleeve? Would a government mandate be enough? And are pharmaceutical companies racing to create a vaccine to redeem their sullied reputations as greedy peddlers of overpriced life-saving drugs?

29 replies on “Take the COVID-19 Shot? Social Pressure and Government Coercion to Back Vaccine”
I will be getting the vaccine when it comes out. I work in a Cancer Center and it is a requirement to have the job. Same with the flu vaccine. I like my job and the work I do, so what the heck.
Do they work? Yeah, sometimes. Since there 2000 strains of the flu out there, we will never cover them all. The annual vaccine you get is just for the top 3 or 4 strains that they “think” will be big that year. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong. Generally it is a mixed bag. If you have a healthy immune system, they aren’t going to hurt you much, so I see it as a cost of doing business.
I’ve had a bunch of vaccines. I get tested for immunity every time I change jobs. I am always shown as immune. Will the vaccines work? I don’t know having never knowingly been exposed to polio, small pox, hepatitis A or B, etc. The tests also show that I am immune to chicken pox, mumps, measles and whooping cough, all of which I had as a child. Though the last three could be confounded by some employers requiring me to have a record of getting the MMR vaccine regardless of having them as a kid. They didn’t do titers back then so I just took the vaccine and called it a day.
Bottom line, they call it “practicing medicine” for a reason. We are all a little bit different in our bodily chemistry/metabolism. You will always find horror stories about any medication. It is the nature of the beast. For those of us in the medical field, we won’t have a choice if we want to keep working in the medical field.
Bottom, bottom line, I don’t really care if it does or doesn’t work. If it gets us beyond all of this germaphobia and masking and such, it will be more than worth it.
Dont know what happened to my comment last night. But here is it again.
I am surprised at Bill ready to take this thing. It is not the vaccine of our childhood. Back then it was a dead version of the troublemaker so your immune system could study it and create a response.
This stuff changes DNA, forever, future children will be affected. And who can say what it will do when it is out in the wild.
Check out Bitchute.com for the banned Doctors telling us this stuff.
I underwent a bone marrow transplant last month.
On the auspicious date of September 11, I basically threw out my existing immune system and got it replaced with a new one — a blank slate. I will have to re-take all my vaccinations. In December, I’ll be able to take the influenza vaccine and the pneumonia vaccine. Then in March, I can start going through my childhood vaccines.
I’m not sure when I’ll be able to even consider taking a Covid vaccine, even if it’s available. I just hope the various pressures will take that into account.
“Keep your distance, wash your hands, we need a face covering, as we are all discovering.” I am so nauseated by this little ditty that plays over and over again every break between radio broadcasts that I turn off the sound. Risk aversion, I am so tired of it. Lets all live in a bubble of “safety, safety safety.” life should be lived with joy and discovery, not just hiding in safety to extend our time here. It is not how long we are alive, but how alive we are while we live.
If I were in a high risk group for this disease, I would do my best to self-isolate and wait a while for the outcomes of any vaccine. Since I am not in a high risk group, I have no intention of taking this vaccine for years.
I am in a high risk group and that is exactly what I did to avoid covid-19. I don’t plan on taking the vaccine until way after it has been released and used. It then depends upon the resulting consequences.
So you are literally taking cavalier attitude toward the whole thing. ๐
I finally took the flu shot for the first time in 6 years (pressured from my wife and my mother, two deities you don’t argue with when they band together). In those 6 years, I have had exactly zero times I’ve been sick. I realize that I am a young person (24 years young, going on 25 in 8 days), so getting a vaccine for a virus in which 99.99997% people below the age of 50 survive, I don’t need a vaccine. I don’t need to wear a mask. I don’t need to wash my hands every 5 minutes. In fact, if I want to live longer, I just need to wear my seat belt when I’m riding in a car and eat less red meat (though that probably won’t happen for a long time). That’s the case for a majority of Americans. I’m going to continue to go to the small breweries and gun club so I can enjoy my life.
I research all medicines and vaccines ordered or suggested by the different doctors I’ve had over the past 10 years. I won’t go into detail here (although I suggest that every person researches prescriptions and vaccines), but the outcome of it all is that I don’t trust Big Pharma, the CDC, or mainstream medicine AT ALL. I’ve never had a flu shot and have never had the flu, even after working in a hospital, the office of a huge union and busy law offices during my lifetime. I have read medical articles and other factual articles that have given me nightmares. When I’ve tried to warn people and encourage them to research for themselves, I’ve been called a conspiracy theorist. Well, folks, the bad thing about conspiracies is that all too often they turn out to be true. Research the Gates Foundation and India and Africa or the monkey virus in polio vaccines given to millions of children during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Based on all the research I’ve done for many years, I wear my tinfoil hat proudly. I will never willingly have a flu, pneumonia or shingles vaccination, or anything pushed currently by doctors and clinics. I strongly advise researching the side effects and contents of every prescription you’ve been prescribed. A lot of what you’ll find will be real eye-openers.
Sorry Bill but journalists are not the most hated because there are no journalists in todays news media. The most hated are the political activists that are pretending to be journalists.
This is a beautiful example of why I so appreciate these three guys. Each brought to the table thoughtful and helpful insights, none of which simply echoed the mainstream talking points. My initial (and unfiltered) thought about the COVID vaccine was, “I’ll take it when they inject it into my corpse,” (which could become a possibility if the Dems ever manage to take power, but my magazine would be empty before they got to my corpse).
Then I listened to this and began to truly think about it. Bill brought some significant and (for me) previously unconsidered insight into the wisdom of at least considering the benefits of vaccines in general. We wouldn’t be where we are as a society without them – at least those that were developed with the primary motivation of controlling seriously threatening diseases. But he demonstrates a common sense approach with his, “never fly the A model,” principle. However, given the extremely low overall mortality rate of this particular virus, the involvement of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation with the “emergency” development of a vaccine for which both he and Faucci would hold patent rights, some of the statements by the same about using vaccines to implant digital ID’s through the ID2020 project, and the suppression by the big tech social media elites of any information that suggests that COVID could be effectively treated with readily available, proven, and cheap drugs, the development of this particular vaccine may have motives that go beyond simply controlling a disease. That seems suspect to me. I’m not anti-vaccine, but I have to ask the question, would I take THIS one.
Scott then asks Steve a profound question about peer pressure, patriotic duty and his response should it become a legal obligation.
I loved Steve’s response, as it speaks into an issue that most, if not all, of us have to deal with. Being forced to do something against our will is naturally offensive to us, and any of us that value freedom know that a violation of our freedom to choose is, by definition, tyranny. I had a similar experience as a very young child when my mom tried to force me to eat oatmeal. The difference in our stories is that I didn’t want to eat it (and I sill can’t stand the stuff), but the end result was the same. I made the decision that NOBODY would ever tell me what to do. To this day, the best way to get me to do something is to tell me I can’t. Maybe that’s why, as a Christian, laying down my own life in an act of surrender to the will of God or to love my neighbor is still sometimes a struggle for me (and maybe for other Christians, as well, but that’s another topic). But that also forced me to ask myself if that is what’s motivating my reaction. Am I reluctant to take it just because the government is telling me I have to?
The next question Scott asks Steve is an insightful and penetrating one, as it explores motives other than simply to cure disease – the political aspect. Could this be a way for big pharma to redeem itself? Steve’s response sheds light on the reality that government and big industry lobbyists can drive prices through the roof and make huge amounts of money, but in doing so, they also solve problems that can benefit people in the long term. In my mind, those same problems could be solved much more efficiently and inexpensively if government would get out of the way. When government and private industry start working together it can be helpful, but it can also result in full government takeover of production. The question in my mind relating to the COVID vaccine is, “Is this vaccine designed to solve a genuine threat, or could it be an avenue to greater government control of our healthcare?” And why as there such a push to mandate it for everybody when so few people (relative to the population) are dying from COVID?
Then Scott follows up with the real question. Is this truly a healthcare issue that could wipe out vast percentages of society, or has COVID-19 become a political tool; one of those crises that certain political activists would never let “go to waste?” I’m seven years more “dotaged” than Scott is and I, also, have never taken the flu shot. I’ve never seen the wisdom in deliberately pumping a virus into my body to prevent that same virus which most likely won’t kill me as long as I eat well, exercise a bit, and take reasonable care to maintain my God-given immune system. My philosophy is that if I begin to take artificial measures to avoid the invasion of pathogens, my body will stop naturally releasing the antibodies it was designed to produce, making me more dependent on big pharma and their products and less reliant on the God who created me. And, after all, SOMETHING is going to cause my death sooner or later, but not before the Lord is finished with me and I’m actually looking forward to that day (though I won’t do anything to hasten it!) As Paul the Apostle said, “To live is Christ, to die is gain.”
I would never play down the severity of the virus to those who are the most vulnerable, and I will continue to take reasonable precautions to avoid contact with those most vulnerable – even if I’m asymptomatic – but from the broad view, and after listening to the perspectives of these three OUTSTANDING gentlemen, my answer to whether I’d take this specific vaccine still remains, “No.” But now my answer is based on a much more thought out position rather than on my initial knee-jerk. Thanks doesn’t begin to express my gratitude for these guys.
(1) Steve’s story about lima beans could have been about me. Except that I hate lima beans.
(2) Bill is absolutely right about vaccines eliminating genuine threats like smallpox and polio. The problem I see with the vaccine trajectory is that, as a society, our amygdalas can no longer judge what diseases are risky enough to make a vaccine worth the risks. Because there are risks. The belief that all vaccines are equally effective and safe is propaganda. The problem isn’t the concept of vaccines, which is sound, but the entrenched methods of developing and manufacturing vaccines which unnecessarily introduce potentially damaging elements. I’m not in the “vaccines cause autism” camp but things like mouse DNA, retroviruses, RNA viruses, replicated since the 1950s as the underlying structure for vaccines, have never been studied in and of themselves because we are only just now starting to understand what they are.
(3) I’ve never taken a flu vaccine (that I recall) and will never willingly take another vaccine for anything less deadly than smallpox or polio or tetanus.
(4) Back to the balance of risk vs. reward, when we vaccine against absolutely everything, we deny our immune systems (and those of our children) the opportunity to become strong through exercise. This is part of the larger problem of our germophobic culture. Not all “germs” are bad.
(5) I expect that the CV-19 vaccine will be safe. I think whether it’s actually effective is irrelevant, because most people believe that it is magic and will enable our society to stop the lockdowns and facemask rules. A lot of people are truly afraid of this virus, made so by the media. The people who are disparaging the vaccine now, mostly in the media, are doing so for political purposes, not because they understand the decades-long problem with how we develop and produce vaccines. (Those who do understand such things will be co-opted by the media, who a year ago would have been making fun of them.) Anyway, after people receive vaccines they will believe that they are safe from dying, and will start ignoring the unconstitutional mandates.
(6) I agree with Steve about how great “Big Pharma” is for the entire world, and also about its manipulation of the FDA, etc. But it’s impossible to deny that there is a connection between whether we develop a treatment and whether they can make money off of it. Hydroxychloroquine was disparaged with anti-scientific “studies,” Ivermectin has been ignored, while Remdesivir (which doesn’t work as well) has been touted because it’s shiny, new, and expensive. The convalescent plasma treatment is tolerated because they can make it expensive (you must come to the hospital to receive an IV treatment), and so forth. I don’t know the solution to this fundamental problem. Governmental agencies like the FDA and CDC were developed in part to combat it, but they have been co-opted. Foundations have their own agendas and are also susceptible to being co-opted by federal or UN funding. It’s a problem rooted in our success. Third-world countries have cured this disease with ivermectin and zinc, both widely available and cheap, while we’ve spent piles of cash on ventilators (which, it turns out, were killing people with this disease), vaccines, and new, expensive anti-viral treatments. I suppose both extremes balance out in the end.
(7) I’m wondering what next year’s plague will be.
(8) Sorry this is so long, but as Bill says sometimes, I don’t have time or energy to make it shorter.
I’m generally in favor of vaccines. I used to get the flu every three years. For the past 15 years, ever since I began getting annual flu shots, I have not had the flu once. And they say that flu shots are only about 40% effective. Well, they work for me.
The only time I refused to get one was during the Obama administration, when the gubmint went full steam ahead with bird flu vaccine manufacturing, and there wasn’t enough regular, seasonal flu vaccine to go around. Since they were pushing it so hard, and it was the Obama regime doing the pushing, I smelled a rat, and refused.
Will I get the China virus vaccine? Probably, but I have natural aversion to getting the one that has Gates Foundation backing. I’m glad there are a few other companies developing it. And I might wait a month or two before getting it, to see if other people are reacting badly to it. In the mean time, maybe I’ll become infected with the China virus and make my own antibodies.
One good thing that may come out of this is that now drug companies will have experience developing cold virus vaccines. Remember how we were always told there are no vaccines for the common cold? The China virus is not a flu. If it were they would have a vaccine in production in January. They know how to make flu vaccines. Common colds are caused by corona viruses. There are at least 150 corona viruses out there, which is why it seems you never build up immunity to the common cold. You may have immunity to the cold you just had, but not the other 149 possibilities out there.
Bill has said several times that he is never wrong because he is willing to listen to new evidence and change his mind, if logic and reason show that he needs to change his mind on any particular subject. Well, I double dog dare you, Bill, to look at all of the evidence below. I think that you will have a less blind faith in big pharma by the end of this short research program.
First, we don’t need a vaccine for a common cold like respiratory virus that mutates to lessor forms rapidly making any vaccine useless almost immediately. Look at the common flu vaccines, they are 10% to maybe, MAYBE, 30% effective each year, but they never eradicate the flu. Those vaccines only make billions for big pharma. (On a side note, what segment of the world’s population was hardest hit by covid-19? What segment of the population over recent memory has the common flu vaccine been pushed on the hardest? Hmmm…is there only correlation or is there causation?) Effective, inexpensive treatments exist. The news about these treatments is being squashed by big pharma through the main stream media…

Also, get the book ‘Corona, False Alarm.’ It is a book about the covid-19 by two German doctors from a mostly European perspective and it therefore takes the US political aspect out of the equation.
Second, find online or get the DVD’s for the documentary VAXXED and the squeal VAXXED II. The stories of thousands of vaccine damaged children will make you cry like nothing else that you have ever seen, because these are innocent children and their families that damaged and changed forever. Follow that with the recently released documentary ‘1986, The Act.’ If vaccines are so safe and effective, why did big pharma get the federal government to grant them immunity to any and all liability for vaccine damage? The federal government has taken that on with tax payer money and has paid out 10’s of billions of dollars for claims in vaccine court (on the small fraction of claims that have won in court). Did you even know that there is a vaccine court?
Third, watch the 10 part series by Ty and Charlene Bollinger on ‘The Truth About Vaccines 2020.’ you can watch episode #6 for free today at the link below…

Episode #2 of this series talks about the history and statistics of Polio, which Bill is so fond of sighting as such a successful medical and scientific break through.
Even though the CDC and the FDA and many other Federal agencies were started as citizen protection agencies, they have become so infiltrated by industry insiders that they are nothing more than ad agencies and propagandists for the trillion dollar big pharma Juggernaut. I don’t know what you all were doing while you were forced to sit at home during this scamdemic, but I was looking for answers and this is just part of what I have found. I for one will never take a flu vaccine nor a corona virus vaccine (especially one that changes your DNA and effectively makes you a GMO like the Mrna vaccine that Moderna is working on).
Be informed! Then decide!
I wrote my comment before I saw yours, was having trouble posting it because the system logged me out. I’m going to watch the videos you linked, thanks!
I watched the video about the doctors rebelling against face masks. Hooray for these courageous physicians! Early on I watched and read many different medical opinions about the effectiveness of mask wearing, and decided they did very little, if anything to keep anybody “safe.” I hate the d—-d things, but keep mine in my purse at all times. At this point in time, before the hysteria dies down, it is merely my ticket to enter the market to buy groceries. I am in and out as fast as I can be, just so I can take it off.
My main objection to masks is that they are dehumanizing. When we opened our church up after a 3 month closing, (and I believe it was closed 2 1/2 months too long,) I made it clear to everyone that I was not going to wear a mask in church. I was not going to be shamed into wearing one, nor would I be held responsibility if anyone in our congregation should come down with the dreaded plague. Most people come in from outside, where wearing a mask is totally ridiculous, but take it off when they come inside. Some put it back on if they get for some reason. The pastor, like me, doesn’t wear one at all in church. Only one person in our congregation wears it all the time inside. Her reasoning is, if she gets it and dies, she’s only going to heaven, so it doesn’t bother her; but it would bother her greatly to pass it on to someone else. I have passed this video on to her, as well as several others who may benefit.
I operate on the principle that if I don’t have something, I can’t give it to you. For that reason, don’t ask me for a million dollars. I don’t have it. And I don’t have the China virus, so I can’t give it to you.
I agree that the the masks are dehumanizing, and this is terrible. At a time when our society is divided and politeness is rare, masks make it so much worse, and are doing real damage to our society

Be not the first by whom the new is tried, nor the last to lay the old aside.
Steve – I grew up in the south on lima bean soup and cornbread – love it still to this day!
I love the Lima Beans I ate as a kid. Out of a can…with tiny bits of ham and tons of salt.
“Never fly the A model of anything” is equivalent to “never install any point-zero release of software (especially that from Redmond, WA).” Both are wise axioms.
Before I begin listening to this exchange between Scott and Bill, I must answer the posed question.
Absolutely not! I have never taken ANY flu shot in my life, and I would rather be a pariah of society that bend to social dictates and government mandates — especially when they are posed under the deceitful guise of “patriotic duty.”
On with the show ….
I’ve never taken a flu shot in my life either! I NEVER wear a mask either unless I’m going to a place that requires them – so I never go there. On with the show! VOTE TRUMP2020!
A question which I do not remember being addressed:
In general a vaccine introduces the disease specific antigens into one’s body with the hope that the immune system produces antibodies which give immunity to that disease.
Excellent. However.
The current tests for this virus look for the same antigens and antibodies that will be produced by the vaccine. If the vaccine is effective that means that every person inoculated would show as a new case of the virus.
Under current thinking (sic) any increase in the number of positive test results warrants more stringent containment diktats.
We end up with the commundrum of a protected population needing more protection.
Nice! (for the control freaks amongst us).
Will I take the covid-19 vaccination voluntarily as soon as it comes out. Simply because the government says it is safe to do so? NO!!!!!! It must be proven to be safe by MY STANDARDS. The FDA is only interested in covering its bare ass and a continued stream of stolen wealth to keep on doing what it cannot do.
The FDA and many other alphabet soup agencies cannot be trusted. Their only purpose is simply to continue. They “say” they intend to serve mankind. Remember? That was the name of an alien cook book. You are being served cooked well done.
I am sick and tired of the mother may I attitude among too many people. If “they” say so, people do it. If “they” say not, people don’t do it. I haven’t lived this long by walking meekly into the gas chamber. I have walked my own path to my own drummer. I learned from my mistakes and did it better the next time.
Take on a task because it must be done by your own choice and because it is hard to do. Apply the scientific method more carefully than the most careful scientist. As a consequence, do the impossible with the inadequate and do it faster than other people can fail.
Collectives are wrong from the get go. They cannot think. They cannot decide. They cannot choose. They cannot act. Only individuals can do those things. The only thing I need to be successful is to be free do to things my way for my reasons and by my own actions. Otherwise all the mother may I mandates can can be stuffed into that dark place where the sun doesn’t shine so far, they will have to open their mouths to see them.
If itโs a requirement to travel, I will be paying for a forged document proving I had the vaccine. Should be easy to find one!
Just like Bill, my view of mandates is that, as soon as you order me to do something, my answer is no, even if it’s something I would otherwise do voluntarily.
I started getting flu shots a few years ago because I’m approaching Scott’s dotage, too. (My goal is to live forever. If I fail, it’s the same as if I didn’t try, so why not?)
Steve is right on the mark about the ridiculous cost to bring a new drug to market, every extra cent of which is a result of government imposition. We’ll probably end up importing less expensive versions of COVID-19 vaccines from other countries who either have or mandate the lower prices, which they can get away with only because their drug companies can manufacture the vaccine without having incurred the astronomical cost of development that our drug companies cannot avoid. That by importing we ultimately screw ourselves goes unnoticed or unremarked.
