In the early 13th century, an army of passionate youths from northern Europe departed for the Holy Land to retake it from the saracens. They were largely slaughtered or enslaved and their naive misadventure has gone down in history as a byword for military failure.
Today is Wednesday, January 6th 2021, and there are thousands of passionate Americans courageously pushing their way into the Capitol building… but to what end?
They have no weapons, no food, no means of encampment, no ability to take and hold territory, and no leadership. Their energy is completely rudderless and sadly there is no scenario in which this ends with anything other than humiliation or death for them.
This is the problem with trying to just dip your toe into a physical fight. You get punched in the nose and your side gets laughed at. Like children storming Jerusalem, these men are unprepared for war and will only serve as propaganda in service to our enemy.Β
I am in favor of pursuing all possible legal avenues to maintain our liberty, and when those legal avenues are exhausted, then we will go to war. However, if you choose to cross that line and get into the fight, then you’d better be prepared to cross it all the way. This is not a movie and you’re not dealing with movie bad guys who will wilt in the face of your devotion to the cause. These are power hungry authoritarians and they will kill you if you fight them unprepared.
Be wise, show courage, and be a leader. This season calls for men of oak and iron. Be those men.Β

There’s a good golden rule of posting in comments. If you have to post more than twice to the same person, it’s probably gone beyond a conversation and into an argument.
Also of note is that if you put the words ‘no offense’ in your post then it’s probably going to be offensive. I personally try not to be offensive, even if I disagree.
There’s also a custom that when you’re fairly new to an online group, you try not to rub the long-standing members the wrong way. You probably don’t know them well enough to understand how they come across, and they’ve earned a measure of latitude that you haven’t yet.
Essentially we’re going to come across at different angles on here, and you need to be okay with that. There’s enough dissention and childishness going on right now in the political world without degenerating into it here.
I expect debate. Not pontification.

Sometimes people need a flea planted in their ear.
Sometimes that flea needs to be pounded in to make sure it nests nice and comfortable.
Your “Non-Offensiveness” can come off as Deeply Offensive.
You don’t know Jack, Jack
Lol thanks for the assist, ya filthy redcoat. πΊπΈπ€π¬π§
Thank you for so aptly describing The Rambling Farter for me.
Oh, you meant not to?
But you did.
You know, I’ve often wondered why so many American adults are so childish, especially on the internet in terms of politics. You know the rest of the world is laughing at you, don’t you?
You are not entirely a bad person.
Or someone who should be dismissed summarily.
You should strive more assiduously to make each of your thought be linked to and feed off o your previous thought, and if the results of the new thought are as immature as the previous thought, to grow.
You have a child’s mind (in the worst way that can mean) in an adult’s body.
I feel pity for you.
I think I shall disregard your very existence until I see evidence it it worth my time to do so.

I do not wish to give excessive offense, but would I give offense if I took your Wise Words, printed them out and toot that printout and $5.50 to the nearest subway station.
One of them would buy me a round trip on the subway system.
Don’t go to public events. You might be ashamed at what you are capable of doing when you are at long last too fed up and excited to restrain yourself.
Hear, hear!
I have never been a fan of protests by any side or party. All they are are gatherings to hear speakers, chant songs and slogans and generally make a bunch of noise, and overall do absolutely nothing to change things. A protest has to turn violent to bring about any action, and invariably the resulting actions are to (1) get a bunch of people arrested (2) hurt or destroy the lives of innocents and (3) piss off a lot of people on the other side.
I have yet to see any meaningful change happen as a direct result of a protest.
That above reply applies to you.
Banalities are not what is needed here.
Not sure what you mean.
You mean when I called your comment Banal?
That should be patently clear to even the semi-educated.
Someone might ask right now that annoying question in a voice most querulous: “Why can’t we all just get along?”
In this matter, we cannot.
What you said were cliches.
I see. I think you totally misunderstand my thoughts. You know, I expected a better quality of people here, so I’ll do you a favor and cancel my membership. Go to hell.
I understood your thoughts completely.
Would you have given the same answer at that debate where Mike Dukakis was asked if he would have a made who raped and murdered his daughter executed?
Wow! One argument and you quit!
Not much fight in you, eh?
