Ohhh Kay….I had first commented on March 22 after watching the freebie Ep #1. Now I’ve watched the 3 others by paying for a month by month membership to DW. So Far, worth it. Haven’t had a chance to go back and watch all the Apollo episodes. I will though.
I’ll ask again, just in case Bill’s back to checking the comments on this post. Did Bill edit/add/delete some of the written content from the original audio only Cold War series? In particular, wasn’t there a really good comparison between atomic and thermonuclear bombs? Did I miss that or did that come in later episodes?
If the fandom of the pop music group One Direction refers to themselves as, “Directioners”, then in the same fandom sense, I will hence forth refer to myself as a, “Whittler”.
Loved The Cold War: What We Saw, as audio theatre of the mind, same with Apollo 11: What We Saw. And yes, the Boering visuals added to my original enjoyment and appreciation of both. Particularly of the Space race that I, three years younger than Bill, grew up amidst in Central Florida. That along with the opening of Walt Disney World were the halcyon days of my youth.
My blood boils when I think of how they denigrated Neil Armstrong, so nobly depicted in Apollo 11: What We Saw, as the steeliest steely eyed missile man, in the 2018 film, First Man, with the sucker punch of inserting, “Whitey on the Moon“. Even applying Hanlon’s razor: never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity, I find it a bald-faced lie to cast the space race as oppression of anyone. A prequel to today’s CTR race Marxism. (I am reading James Lindsey at the moment).
I binge watched the first 4 episodes of The Cold War: What We Saw. I am awaiting the next installments. Spoiler alert: I will be particularly pleased to see the episode featuring the role of Col. Stanislav Petrov and how he averted nuclear winter! In the fall of 1983, when this moment took place, I had graduated from NCSA and was seeking my fortune on Broadway. After having endured 4 years plus of anti-Regan/war monger/99 Luftballoons nonsense and long suffering to this day at the hands of “progressive” peers, it was a revelation that who I had always seen as, “a bear in the woods” was just that!
Bravo! Looking forward for much more return on my membership investment!
I hasten to add, your presentation is in league with Spalding Gray’s, “Swimming to Cambodia” and David Woods, “Why I am a Christian”. Right on!
fabulous!!
Just watched first episode! Great job Bill!
General Patton was right, the real enemy was the U.S.S.R., and it STILL is communism.
Enthralling! I am watching it over at the Daily Wire and just had to say – fantastic work! I can tell how much care and detail went into making the episodes. I can’t wait for the rest to come out. Thank you!
I watched the free episode last week. I just signed up at DW again, specifically to watch the rest of this series. I just finished watching Two Bombs. Outstanding, and well worth the investment.
But I repeat – the very people who need to see and hear this history are not going to pay for it.
This is why I am grateful to the Bill Whittle team for making (most of) the content on this site available to all.
The videos are rally great! A world-class production … but … Is it just me, or is DW making it a bit hard to find for members? It is so good that it ought to be easier to get to from the main page. I had found it earlier when following Bill’s link here, but when I went back to check for more the whole series seemed to almost be hidden on their page. IMHO it should at least be findable by searching on “Whittle”!
Frankly, it should show up on the “watch” tab – but I have to really look around before I find any mention of it. (For the record: “Watch”, then “Movies”, then scroll down to the bottom. In the next to last row you will see “What We Saw – Apollo 11”. You can find the cold war episodes in there.)
Not a lot of respect for a well-produced set of new videos. Just my $0.02 worth.
To be fair, I just watched Andrew Klavan’s Friday show and he gave Bill a really great plug. It doesn’t look like the other main shows mentioned it (at least not on Friday) but Klavan was very nice and showed a clip.
Update #2. DW has made it so the “What we saw” has been moved to a more prominent position and it no longer just looks like it is still only Apollo 11. 🙂 And searching for “Whittle” under the show tab brings up the show. Looks like they have given it the respect that it so richly deserves.
Masterful.
Hail, Vectron!
Well done, certainly worth the sacrifice.
One small criticism: the use of a 357 Magnum revolver took me out of the moment a bit, a Nagant would have been a more realistic choice.
I watched them this morning before work. It’s a great documentary series, and I am going to share it with my family.
Very very nice touch, Bill. Great engagement.
Suuure. Thi first taste is ALWAYS free. It’s only after you’re addicted that they sink the hook!
That being said, I haven’t even watched yet and I’m all in! Gonna get me a ‘scrip to DW and soak up all the wondrousness that is Bill’s production values!
I watched the Ep. 1 of TCW on DW last night.
To hell with “theater of the mind”. Those video clips, audio coming from an old radio, and Perfectly Coiffed Bill, saying words he wrote, better than he said them in the original recordings. Daily Wire’s guys and gals nailed this one. Much more to see, much more engaging. Way to go Bill.
A lesser website might have had you try to lipsync your original dialog. Now THAT would be funny.
If this remake is any indication of the quality of production, then I’m getting a DW subscription just to see all TCW.
Hi Road. Yes, they did a great job on this, as thy did with Apollo 11. but the set for AN EMPIRE OF TERROR is on a whole other level. Should be out by end of summer.
Bill, I have listened three times. The video is so powerful. Great work. I can’t wait for the white feather episode.
Excellent job Bill. The manner in which the film was structured wasn’t very ADHD friendly, but it didn’t put me to sleep or anything…lol.
Especially when I heard you say “poodles” of ice-cold water…lol. Sorry, my hyper observance can be annoying to folks some, I know. lol
I really loved it, I thought I retained most of my historical knowledge, but there were things I didn’t recall. So thanks Professor Bill!
Thanks Brian!
Will your members (us) get access to the rest at some point?
I am still working on it. It’s more a technical problem for them than a membership issue. They keep these episodes on their own servers behind their firewall so I’m still trying to see if we can get ither free or discounted access.
Copy that…btw…did anyone show you this yet?
When I saw him, I thought of you…then I looked above Gowron…lol…who does that look a little bit like? A handsome lad.
An excellent start well done Bill.
Thanks Richard! I think they just keep getting better.
Good start Bill!
Can we share w/ friends & family, or is this just for us??
That’s all yours, Grace. They made it free to everyone so send the link to whomever you like.
Scott, please ask Bill if there is a promo code we can use over at Daily Wire to subscibe.
Scottbot is down for maintenance but I am continuing to work on it Furball.
Thank you for the update and the effort.
Very well done bill, can’t wait for “The Suck”.
That’s one of my favorites as well Mike.
I bought a DailyWire subscription. No disappointment.
Carl, don’t take this the wrong way but you are a one-man conservative George Soros! Thanks for both.
