Brooks says that since Trump has no policy agenda, but does love waging personality wars with coastal elites, Democrats who pursue impeachment are playing into his hands. Did Democrats just do the only thing they could have done to unite Trump supporters and Never-Trumpers for the 2020 election?

Bill: Great episode, but you are wrong on one thing. In your close, you say that we should put our money where our mouths are. No, no, no! I’m putting my money where YOUR mouth is. You are much better at converting the ignorant progressives; my standard response to progressives is, “Are you really that stupid?”

Scott, you also mentioned “yesterday’s episode” which threw me because its Monday. I’m guessing this was recorded with a few others and you got your days mixed up.
Pelosi’s impeachment triangulation:
1) She throws red meat to the far left;
2) For the moderate left, she gets the impeachment process out of the way – but *on the record*;
3) For the electorate at large, she gets to say, “We did America’s business of trying to rid the republic of a racist, homophobic, misogynist tyrant. We proved our point, but the Republicans in the Senate stood by their divisive liar-in-chief;”
4) For the candidates, all the invective and charges during impeachment are now available as sound bites, even if they didn’t work. After all, “our experts proved Trump broke the law, but those Republican senators played politics.”
Finally, she gets to claim some sort of moral high ground for however much longer Trump is in office: “He may be the President, but he’s a proven liar and criminal and has no moral authority.”
EDIT: Heard a great comment this morning. Pelosi doesn’t have to start real impeachment proceedings. She’s getting “impeachment by media.”
Our only local paper features editorials by Brooks which I never read. Most of the page is dedicated to Leftist propaganda–Associated press news. They use editorials by the fake “conservatives” like Brooks and call it being even-handed. Most political cartoons are critical of Trump and favor the Dems. The Leftist parade in the next town got front page coverage but the photo of the tons of garbage left in our desert by illegal aliens was postage stamp size.

Pelosi is taking no risk. She has called for an impeachment inquiry. If she were serious, she’d have called for a vote. It’s just another ploy to keep the chaos alive.
