I believe that many on the left sincerely think that they are small d democrats. Because they are ignorant.
They also mistakenly believe that the nation is a democracy. It is not.
They fail to understand that the Constitution not only places limits on government, but also on “the tyranny of the majority”. Which they are happy to fall back on when in the minority, but swiftly forget when they are that tyrannical majority.
And they are routinely the most tyrannical of majorities.
The pendulum swings. The laws of physics and lessons of history guarantee it.
