The shooting in New Zealand has brought the usual suspects out of the woodwork. It’s become Kabuki. Everyone puts on their mask and plays their part. The anti-gunners blame the NRA, President Trump and the Republicans, and demand that SOMETHING be done, whether it’s efficacious or not. Results don’t matter, DO SOMETHING!
And that’s the irony, here. New Zealand had already done what the American Left wants. The so-called “Common Sense Gun Control”. They have Universal Background Checks. They have Mental Health Screenings. They have Limited Magazine Capacity. They have Banned “Assault Weapons”. They have Draconian storage and transport requirements. New Zealand has all the anti-gunners want, and more. Yet, fifty innocent people are still dead.
At this stage, it probably shouldn’t surprise me, but it still does. The Leftist response to any problem is to curtail freedom. Damn it, people are just too free. There’s no problem that can’t be solved by restricting Liberty. Disarm those who are blameless, and are of no threat to anyone. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Broken record time: The Left doesn’t want to address the REAL issue. And that is that this situation is a direct result of their philosophy and policies. In my lifetime, I’ve witnessed the devaluing of human life, to the point Modern Society applauds Post-Birth Abortions, as Reproductive Justice. We’ll fight for the life of a condemned murderer, saying Capital Punishment is barbaric, but we’ll let a newborn baby die in a surgical tray.
Forget Equal Justice Under the Law, what matters now, is Social Justice, wherein every demographic who feels marginalized and has a political axe to grind, takes a swipe at America and Western Civilization. Fight the power! Destroy the Patriarchy and the traditions of the West! You have nothing to lose but your shackles!
Except, Western Civilization, and particularly America, has done more to help, advance, and prosper ALL people, than any society in history. See, here in America, it doesn’t matter where you came from. It doesn’t matter what sex you are, or even how you self-identify. It doesn’t matter how much melanin you have in your skin. In America, all that matters is your character, and your ambition. Anyone can go as far as they want. That’s the American Dream.
Alas, I don’t know if that’s true anymore. We’ve lost our way. The Cultural Marxists have held sway in academia and entertainment for so long, maybe they’ve killed The American Spirit. Most of the kids coming up now have never heard anything other than “America Sucks”. What’s most troubling is that young people who don’t see America’s value, won’t fight for her, when the enemy’s at the gate. The Limousine Leftists might think that they’re safe behind their armed security, but mercenaries can only be trusted until they get a better offer.
It’s been said that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. Who are we? Are we the authors of an American Renaissance, or are we the generation that squandered mankind’s last best hope on Earth. You tell me.
