THE PSEUDO-AMERICAN

THE PSEUDO-AMERICAN

During the last six years, I’ve been less than happy with what’s been going on in state and federal governments. Perhaps you’ve noticed? I’ve stayed up some nights writing legislators, governors and even attorney generals. I’ve written so many letters to those people that I now have a pile of “canned” responses that I can actually lay before me for the sake of comparison. A couple of my not-so-honorable representatives do, from time-to-time, actually respond in a meaningful way to my comments and inquiries. Most responses, however, mimic previous ones, changing a word here or there as their form letters presume to thank me for my concerns and promise to keep me in mind as they consider the issues. I’m beginning to think that trying to influence my not-so-honorable representatives in government might be a waste of my time.

In spite of my disappointment in government [yes, I’m trying to be civil], I am far more disappointed in the seemingly careless attitudes of our younger adults and their kids. “I don’t care about that stuff” is a common response to attempts to discuss political and economic issues with them. Actually, I get the same response from many of my own generation who either don’t want to be bothered or who just don’t want to hear differing opinions. Perhaps Obama was right when he said that Americans have become lazy…. so lazy that they don’t even want to think. Some so lazy that they don’t even want to know about the real world out here.

It would appear that ignorance has become a refuge from reality for those I call PSEUDO-AMERICANS. That label seems to fit far too many citizens today and it’s about time we recognize them for what they are. Historically, Americans have been independent persons willing to do whatever it took to earn a living and provide for family….to create new opportunities….to defend themselves from crime and abuse….to voice their opinions about events and issues….to take a stand against folly, irresponsibility and dishonor….TO BE INVOLVED IN THE DIRECTION OF OUR GOVERNMENTS AND OUR COUNTRY.

For decades, especially since the 1960s, a rottenness has increasingly crept into our lives. That rotting and degenerative condition has derived from a generation that was spoiled by the prosperity that occurred after World War II. There appears to be more to the term “spoiled rotten” than a simple connotation. Those born after the war became the “feel good” people of the 60s and later continued their careless and irresponsible ways after becoming parents. Too busy fulfilling their own wants, they allowed their communities, governments and children to disintegrate into a culture of self-centered gratification and corruption not seen since the last days of the Roman Empire. To the pseudo-American, reality is a condition that has seemed relevant only as an obstacle to his wants and wishes.

Our economy and way of life are crumbling…. as both political parties pursue their never-ending thirst for our money and power over us and all we once held dear…. as socialists, progressives, liberals, unions and communists grasp at the greatest opportunity they have ever had to destroy our American way of life…. as our so-called leaders tolerate defiance of the rule of law and fan the flames of racial and class warfare…. as our money is undermined and given away for political favor and expedience…. as our education systems are bastardized for the benefit of unions and in the name of “fairness”…. as our borders are penetrated at will by anyone desiring to take advantage of our overextended welfare programs…. and on, and on, and on, and………

Imagine, for a few moments, the lives and hardships of those who came before us. What was it like to live in New England during the early 1700s? Try to describe to yourself the “comforts” enjoyed by those pioneers and the opportunities they might have had for recreation and relaxation. By any description, life was hard…very hard in those days. Imagine a life with no electricity, natural gas, paved roads or any roads. Imagine a life with no telegraph or telephones or television….no cars, trucks, bicycles….no food or clothing stores. Very few medicines and plenty of injury and disease. Americans had to be strong, cautious and hard-working to survive the 1700s. What would have become of a 1700s pseudo-American?

Today’s young people know very little about that period. They know little about the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812. Hell, many don’t know a damn thing about World War II or the Korean War or Vietnam. Worse yet, our young people will tell you that they don’t care about that stuff….that it’s totally irrelevant. Of course, many seem to be well-versed about the negatives, real or fabricated, that have occurred during our short history. Our public education / indoctrination system and negligent parents have seen to that.

When a college kid can’t tell you where the state of Texas is and, in fact, asks if it’s somewhere near Australia, you have to admit that our system of “education” has failed us. Some third-world countries are now surpassing American students in math, science and reading. That can be no surprise when so many of our own know so little about their country and its history. Why is it that they don’t care about that stuff….any of that stuff? What questions will they ask when they awaken to find that the socialists, progressives, liberals, unions and communists have won the day….when they find themselves living in a world of want, wondering what happened to that life of ease and comfort they have known until now?

Who will they look to for all that they and we have enjoyed? Will they even think of looking to themselves…  those pseudo-Americans? And if they do look to themselves, will they know the answers or how to come to them? Will they find the will of their ancestors to survive and to throw off evil governance? Sadly, I rather doubt it.

Americans continued to live with many hardships as they created the America of the 1800s. Still, no electricity or natural gas. Unimproved roads had developed. Telegraph came on the scene prior to the Civil War. The railroad and waterways provided the transportation necessary for further exploration, expansion and settlement. Still, no cars or trucks. Independence and an entrepreneurial spirit brought improvements to farming and the distribution of food and clothing. Still, very few medicines and plenty of injury and disease. Although the 1800s were very difficult times for Americans, the concepts of freedom and private property ownership provided the incentive to move forward. Still, most Americans had to be strong, careful and self-reliant to survive in the 1800s. What would have become of an 1800s pseudo-American?

Was life any easier in the 1900s? Any American who happened to survive two World Wars, the Great Depression and the lawless days of prohibition and rampant crime would tell us that life in the early 1900s was still hard. Many still had no electricity, telephones or cars. Medicine was still in the Dark Age in terms of available pharmaceuticals. Indoor plumbing had begun to replace the outhouse and allow for more than a Saturday night bath. Innovation, wars and the American way had brought to “average” Americans the automobile, the airplane, widespread employment opportunities, new disease-fighting drugs to defeat the likes of malaria and polio and then there were 48 states. A pseudo-American may not have survived the first half of the 1900s comfortably, if at all.

The second half of the 1900s was the most comfortable, most prosperous, most free [for those of humankind who happened to be Americans] in the history of mankind. Opportunity was nearly unlimited, until an increasing number of pseudo-Americans came upon the scene. The pseudo-American was always with us, enjoying the rewards of the labor and investments of others while quietly hating our country and all it stands for. It was only after the 1960s that his number became noticeably larger, more vocal… and violent. Since that time, the pseudo-American has become stronger with the help of a co-opted education system controlled by those who wish for an end to America as we have known it.

What of the hundreds of thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives, limbs and futures on behalf of the lives, liberty and happiness of their posterity? Were their lives wasted? Did they sacrifice themselves so that their grandchildren would choose to be servants to the socialists, progressives, liberals, unions and communists they fought and defeated?

Our public schools, universities and colleges have, with the help and direction of public employee unions, become incubators for the tools of the socialists, progressives, liberals, unions and communists who now openly advocate for the downfall of capitalism….the American way of life. The ignorant who wish to destroy America pursue their objective in spite of the fact that the American way of life has provided more prosperity and less poverty to the entire world than any economic or political system in the history of the world. What can be the motive[s] for such a destructive objective? The answer is always the same….follow the money and the power.

Our governments at all levels have been infiltrated and corrupted by the growing numbers of pseudo-Americans who hold public office….in our city councils, our state and federal legislatures and our courts. Those men and women are easily identifiable today as they openly call for higher taxes and more regulation of our businesses and our liberties as they spend our cities, states and country into an eventual state of bankruptcy. For decades, those men and women have pandered to the PARASITES among us as they provided money, a dramatically larger government workforce, undeserved and unpaid-for benefits, free housing and utilities, free food and transportation, free cell phones and more at the expense of productive Americans. These pseudo-Americans casually cite the “full faith and credit of the United States” as they leverage the personal wealth and property of every productive American, including that of those yet to be born.

The uneducated or undereducated pseudo-American doesn’t have a clue about what is currently happening to his world. All he knows is that someone else has more money, more property, more fun, more power, more…more…more…than he. His undereducated, indoctrinated and feeble mind has allowed him to believe that reality can become that which he “wishes” it to be. He is blind to the simple and historical fact that the way of life he pursues will result in perpetual servitude….servitude to a self-proclaimed elite class of power and money holders who will live as PARASITES on the fruits of his labor. In one respect, this prospective fate is well deserved. He and his ilk have “chosen” or demanded, for decades, to live as PARASITES on the labor, invention, property and wealth of productive Americans.

The pseudo-American is a PARASITE deserving of our contempt. The pseudo-American is a truly evil product of envy, greed and sloth. The pseudo-American is a scourge on a great country and a dishonorable stain on the hardships and sacrifices made by his ancestors. The pseudo-American demands, rather than work for, the comfort and prosperity that was made possible to him by his ancestors. The pseudo-American calls for an end to the system that has provided all that he has known and enjoyed. The pseudo-American uses all that has been “given” to him to demand the end to that system. The pseudo-American is deserving of reward only in his own mind…. a mind that denies reality as he wishes for a world in which he may benefit without a need to provide the effort necessary to effect his rewards.

The pseudo-American demands reward and an end to private property in the name of “fairness” and “equality” while at the same moment denying the contradictions made obvious by his unwillingness to make the sacrifices necessary to take advantage of unlimited opportunities for comfort and success.

To the pseudo-American, words have no meaning. Selfishness is a way of life. Excellence, character and honor are foreign concepts. “Fun” is a higher priority than work. Reality is a painful illusion. Pseudo-Americans simply don’t care about that stuff.

I really don’t give a rat’s tail about my own generation at this point. We won’t, for long, suffer the effects of such carelessness to the same degree as our children and grandchildren. The likes of Obamacare and the destruction of our private healthcare system will see to that. As for those younger Americans who “choose” to work, save and grow, they are likely to live a harder and less comfortable life than those of us who were born shortly after World War II. It will be up to them to turn the pseudo-Americans away from their lives as “useful idiots”. It will be up to the undereducated to realize their shortcomings and search out the knowledge necessary to transform themselves and our country into the great nation it was prior to the dramatic corruption of our governments, our public schools and our universities… before the proliferation of powerful pseudo-Americans.

If we are unable to take our country back from the pseudo-Americans who now attempt to destroy all that our ancestors bled and died for…. if history continues to be irrelevant, Americans and pseudo-Americans alike will not only continue to say of history that they “…are not interested in that stuff”. They and America will simply be “that stuff”.

There is no better example of the failure of our government-run public education system than the pathetic “Occupy Wall Street” crowds that once graced the streets of many of our cities. Aside from union and socialist instigators, very few of these protesters are able to communicate any meaningful reason for obstructing the ability of productive citizens to operate their businesses or move freely about those cities.

As the OWS crowd violated law after law, local governments [supported by union leaders and incompetent media apologists] demonstrated their failure and pseudo-Americanism via tacit and open support for the lawbreakers.

Barrack Obama, the lowliest excuse for a president of our United States, accompanied by Senate leader Harry Reid, past House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and many influential Democrats, have offered their continuous support to the mobs of Occupy Wall Street lawbreakers as they trashed our cities, raped and even killed fellow protesters, fought with police and threatened or committed violence on passing citizens. Our so-called national leadership, figuratively spitting on their oaths of office and our Constitution, cheered those groups on as they pledged destruction of our economy and our way of life. The OWS protesters [pseudo-Americans] very openly, in the name of socialism, progressivism, forced union membership and communism, called for the confiscation of property and wealth from those who invest in businesses that provide jobs and an opportunity for all Americans to participate in the American Dream. Their ignorance of reality is frightening. That kind of ignorance and blindness has led to horrendous violence and bloodshed during the last 100 years. There is little reason to think that such violence cannot happen here today.

America and its government bureaucracies need a thorough housecleaning….a complete overhaul. The courts, in particular, have become infested with pseudo-Americans who rarely represent Constitutional law, but very often attempt to legislate from the bench contrary to the Constitution they have sworn to uphold. Pseudo-Americans have successfully packed our governments and associated bureaucracies with their kind who routinely sacrifice our Constitutional rights and liberties to special interest groups, businesses, individuals, foreign countries and causes.

The legislative and executive branches of our federal government believe themselves to be above the law. Legislation routinely includes exemptions for themselves from the laws they pass on the rest of us. All three branches increasingly allow a bloated and unaccountable bureaucracy to violate businesses and individuals and, in fact, utilize that bureaucracy to circumvent the Constitution they have sworn to honor and protect. They no longer believe they are responsible to the citizens who elect them. As I have said before, our federal government has become a criminal enterprise used more and more to benefit its members and favored benefactors at the expense of productive citizens.

It may be truthfully said that our three branches of federal government are conspiring to take from the people their liberty, property and ultimately their very lives. One must only look at their actions to see the direction in which we are headed at an increasing speed. Today’s socialists, progressives, liberals, unions and communists have come to believe that their time is now. They don’t intend to let the opportunity to destroy our way of life slip away. They appear prepared to take whatever steps and lives they think necessary to accomplish their goals unless they see that the rest of us are willing to do what must be done to protect ourselves from the prospect of totalitarianism.

Altruism and egalitarianism have served only to breed a thankless and demanding class of PARASITES, pseudo-Americans who have led us to the doorstep of tyranny. Capitalism and our constitutionally-limited republic have produced the broadest range of freedom and prosperity ever made possible in all of history.

I have lots of complaints alright. I also have a few solutions to a few problems….

  • Return to the principles of the Declaration and the Constitution.
    • Enforce the oaths of office taken by elected and appointed officials.
    • Eliminate privileges, salaries, benefits and pensions currently enjoyed by the Congress.
    • Eliminate the concept of immunity for Congresspersons who are indictable for criminal offenses.
    • Restrict legislatures and the Congress to part-time status.
    • Eliminate or severely restrict the use of Executive Orders.
    • Implement line-item veto.
    • Eliminate federal departments of Labor, Energy, Education, Agriculture, EPA and the Fed for starters.
    • Eliminate government subsidies and guarantees of every kind.
    • Sell all unused and unnecessary government-owned buildings and real estate.
    • Privatize all government services.
    • Employ point-of-sale taxes in place of income, capital gains and death taxes.
    • Slash federal and state bureaucracies and their salaries and benefits by no less than 40%
    • Restrict government spending to 10% of GDP, preferably less than that.
    • Impeach judges and justices who fail to uphold our Constitution. Congressmen and Congresswomen, too.
    • Secure our borders with American soldiers brought home from foreign bases.
    • Deny financial assistance and citizenship to any person and their issue who are in our country illegally.
    • Deny automatic citizenship to the issue of foreign nationals born on American soil.
    • Eliminate foreign aid and close down United Nations operations.
    • Pursue all avenues for national defense and without mercy those who attack our country and its interests.
    • Limit welfare costs of every kind to a one-time, 6-month period and reward federal fraud with 10 years of hard labor-no exceptions.
    • Prohibit campaign contributions by public employee unions and eliminate payroll deducted union dues.
    • Prohibit all contributions, favors and incentives whatsoever by companies or their lobbyists to include after-service employment.
    • Eliminate foreign travel by all federal government personnel except the President and Departments of State and Defense, and then only for truly official business.
    • Deny access to all government posts, elected and appointed, by known anti-American persons….known socialists, communists, etc. whose oaths of office must be considered fraudulent.
    • Prohibit the issue of visas, green cards, immigration permits or education opportunities to citizens of countries that have declared themselves to be enemies of the United States, conduct themselves in a manner damaging to American interests or whose religious beliefs call for the destruction of our country or its way of life.
    • Deny trade access to countries that wish to damage our economic interests, those that act to restrict American access to their markets and those who steal our intellectual capital and patented designs.
    • Eliminate from our law books all antiquated, duplicated and superseded laws and regulations as well as those that conflict with the intent of the US Constitution.

I find these to be most obvious. Of course, there are many more solutions to be offered by others and perhaps a few of mine may be found to be unwarranted. The clear fact is that we can afford to wait no longer for our representatives to act in our best interests. They will not. Things are the way they are because those in Washington and in our state capitols want it this way. They are pseudo-Americans and have little or no interest in fulfilling their responsibilities to the people or to our Constitution. If this is not the case, let them prove it to us with actions that will return us to the path laid out by our Founders and the U.S. Constitution.

Thomas Jefferson once made the following prophetic statements;

  • “An elective despotism was not the government we fought for.”
  • “Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct.”
  • “Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”

We were warned and here we are at those very crossroads. We must not pretend that worse things may not be in our future. Our future may be a fascinating and dangerous one for our country, you and yours.

UPDATE:  The immaturity, ignorance and hate have grown far worse during the last four years. Now, in 2019, we have seen self-proclaimed socialists and anti-American Muslims elected to our state and federal legislatures and many local city councils. Universities have become bastions of violence and havens for those who denounce free speech. ANTIFA, violence for the sake of violence, has come on the political scene, becoming increasingly violent and destructive while liberal / progressive administrations and politicians tacitly support that behavior. Our national media has become a partner in the ongoing propaganda effort by progressives / socialists to destroy our constitutionally limited republic. Government abuses of every description have become a way of life with little, if any,  accountability. Even after the recent dramatic economic turnaround, voters surprisingly chose to return the House of Representatives to progressive-democrat control… who promise to “resist” and persecute the Trump administration on political and personal levels of every sort. The increasingly vicious nature of the contention within our federal government is unprecedented and most dishonorable. The outright criminal behavior of elected and appointed officials is despicable and disgraceful. Our country is politically divided by race, by sex, by age, by wealth, by religious views, by nearly every conceivable excuse for political and personal animosity. Worse than all this, our so-called leaders encouraged this division… they want it this way. It may not be possible to reverse this condition. Further, we have welcomed millions of uneducated illegal immigrants into our country who place extreme burdens on our welfare and education systems. “Anchor babies”, a policy that must be ended, are often a means for illegals to remains in our country. Illegal immigration steals jobs, lowers wages, evades taxes and brings with it crime and disease. Washington fails to address this issue… because they want it this way. Unfortunately, things have changed… for the worse. We are on a road to self-destruction at an increasingly faster pace. Will enough of us finally acknowledge the dangerous path we’re on? Even so, will we be able to make the necessary corrections? I’m not willing to make a wager either way.

Lee, that is an impressive amount of content for a blog such as this, and it is very well written. In fact, I thought I might have read it on some major opinion site, but a bit of Googling doesn’t turn up anything.

If I might make a friendly suggestion, it is also very long. I think it would make a better work if broken into about three posts, submitted every couple of days.

The first would introduce your Psuedo-American label, and discuss the difficulties they would have living in early America. The second would expound on how the mess got worse in the 20th century and particularly the last few years, and the last would present and discuss in a little more depth your proposed solutions (and that was great, solutions are what we need to hear).

And with a few paragraph breaks, your update would finish the series powerfully.

Please don’t take my words here as anything but a positive critique. As long as we are sitting here trying to get this blog off the ground, we all need whatever help we can get. Your content was excellent, and nailed one of our biggest problems in this country. If not the biggest. Kudos!

Thank you, sir. No offense taken. I knew it was much too long when I posted it and I assumed that many wouldn’t take the time to read such a lengthy piece. I’ve never been known for my patience. Most of my stuff, however, doesn’t run quite so long. Is there an “edit” function available to me?

Yes, just to to the Blog button on the main control bar and you’ll see a dropdown with something like “LEE’S CONTENT”. On the control bar, select “My Posts” and a list comes up. Each one has an edit link that brings you into the nifty little WYSIWYG editor (which has some quirks that need to be gotten used to).

If you are going to change the format of this post in a major way, I would recommend you copy it into another place, like Word or even Notepad, then edit it into how ever many new posts. Delete the current post, and recreate it (with “Add post”). Then add more at an interval you choose, later.

You might want to avoid adding your own headline in the body of the post, and let the system do that for you. Unfortunately that doesn’t allow putting your pic, byline, and date above it as you did, but maybe there will be a way eventually. Scott is still tweaking furiously on the system.

I’m still learning, so I don’t have all the answers you may seek here 😉 One problem is that although you can save a draft copy while you are working with it, the post remains in the blog order by the date you first submitted it, even if you didn’t “go live” and take awhile to do editing and saving in the editor. I have a bug ticket open on this.

I’m still fighting with how to position images on the page. It seems like we are restricted to square format no matter what we tell it to do.

By the byline I see this was apparently posted on November 19th, 2011, at some other blog. I thought it looked familiar!
