The REAL “Core Mission” of the GOP

I’ve been watching politics for 40+ years now. I used to think I knew the “core mission” of the RepublicanParty: defend individual liberties, American traditions, religious freedom, and economic freedoms, especially for small businesses, and fight Democrat corruption.

How wrong I was.

Since Pres. Trump became the nominee, I’ve seen the bulk of the GOP completely abandon those principles–the only one who fought for them was “the outsider Bad Orange Man,” Donald Trump! So what has been the REAL “core mission” of the GOP?

I think I know it now.

In basketball, there’s this idea of a type of player who really doesn’t make anything happen, but has enough alertness to be in the right place at the right time, and after the other players struggle for a rebound or a loose ball, it bounces over to him and he gets an easy basket. He gets a few of these baskets a game, and he’s known as “a garbageman.”

The Republican Party has degenerated into our national garbageman.

When the Democrats get a little TOO insane, or TOO fratricidal, the American people look around and say, “Cr@pp, is there anyone else we can give power to who won’t burn down our country?!” And voila, then the BushGOP is happy to pick up the ball and get the basket. “YAAAYYYY, us!”

But that aint so great.

The whole problem with the garbageman is he only scores as a derivative of the work of others. It is strange to say, but I’ve noticed how unbelievably LAZY Republican officials are–strange because we are supposed to be the party of hard-working entrepreneurs, not lazy freeloaders. Plus, the garbageman can’t make anything happen through his own efforts, because he just isn’t good enough. Wonder why Republican Presidents, or Congressional leaders (apart from Trump) never accomplish anything for their voters? Because they are lazy, passive, unimaginative louts who won’t get off their @sses to accomplish anything for the people who elected them!

The principles of the DemocratParty are clear: wield power to extract wealth from and destroy those who don’t submit to them, and to give wealth to those who wield power, or do submit. These are who we are up against, and who is on our side? A party of garbagemen.

We’re in a lot of trouble.

Well said Philip.
I would like to add that the role of Democrats and Republicans has been constant in the past 107 years. From 2013 to the present, Democrats have been injecting socialist redistributive policies so successfully that as of 2019, 62% of the US federal budget is involved in confiscating money from one set of citizens and redistributing to another. Next time Democrats sweep potus+house+senate they will inject more redistributive policy. Republicans have taken the role of maintain the status quo. The watlz between Democrats injecting Marxist policy and Republican maintaining the status quote has been expensive in many ways.
To paraphrase Bill’s vernacular from Episode #2, people who crave control are behind this, currently using Marxist clothes, but their goal is control.
