My shotgun has been sitting quietly in the corner of my living room since I brought it home. It’s very well behaved.
One thing our CCW instructor drilled into us. Guns do not “go off”. Somehow, the trigger gets pulled.
Now . … I do think we should stop beating up on Balwin, much as I don’t like him. It was an accident. It wasn’t his fault. He’s on a movie set, with a prop that they PAY somebody to check, and that person did not take their job seriously. Would it be better if he’d known and followed gun safety rule #1 which every “evil” NRA member is well aware of? Yes, it would have been.
But the guy is playing pretend, he plays pretend for a living in pretend settings and to them, everything is pretend, even the gun, and he’s pretend shooting someone in a moment of what he felt was levity. It was tragic, it should be a wakeup call to Hollywood… and the whole “I didn’t pull the trigger thing”….
Psychology can explain that, I’ve been there, when I’ve done something that I really wish I hadn’t done, and your brain will come up with alternate explanations that isolate your actions from what happened to remove any culpability and you will WANT to believe them… the worse the tragedy, the stronger this tendency will be. There’s nothing more tragic than the taking of a life.
Much as I don’t like him, I feel bad for the guy. He’ll never get over it. Not saying he should, something like this SHOULD haunt you forever … but … the haunting itself is a terrible thing to the person being haunted.
Fear is only sold effectively to those that have bought into the victimhood mentality that Marxism promotes. For those that don’t buy into victimhood, there is no fear.
That said, these are the tools being used by the global elite to bring about The Great Reset – and it’s a global effort. We need to start looking at our issues from a worldwide perspective. Any efforts pursued without that perspective will only buy time.

Personally, I am thrilled with the emergence of the Omicron strain. As Dr. John Campbell has said, it looks like Covid caught a cold. It seems to have merged with a cold virus, and mutated into a highly, highly contagious virus which is very mild. It will over run Delta, and become the dominant strain. Thank you Lord, because this is Your doing. He sends rain (blessings) upon the just, and unjust.
A few years ago I read an article about how the Industrial Revolution saved humanity, and the planet because CO2 levels had become dangerously low by the end of the 18th century. Seems like all that smoke spewing forth from the factories of those greedy entrepreneurs was beneficial. I’ll have to try to find the article, which won’t be easy, because I can’t remember who the author is. Perhaps one of you out there had also read it and can provide the link?
For the past few months, at our weekly chapel prayer meeting (and in my own prayers,) I have been asking God to give us courage. I have not yet gotten used to seeing so many seemingly sentient beings still wearing masks, still willing to believe, without any investigation, the garbage spewing forth from Fauci’s pie hole. After Puppy Gate I started referring to him as the American Mengele.
By the way, whatever happened to the Puppy Gate story? Man! Are we in trouble when a hue and cry can’t be raised over the mistreatment of puppies! Where’s PETA?
There is a class of people who WANT to be afraid. Being afraid gives their life meaning when they have otherwise eliminated all meaning from their life. They have replaced religion with secular fear and made that their religion. A ‘Theocracy of Fear.”
I recently attended another meeting about the generations. Supposedly, Gen Z (birth 1997 to 2010ish) is risk adverse.
You certainly identified the disease, fear mongering, but some people are immune to that disease while others succumb and grovel to the fear mongers. So what’s the cure? Thinking. Reason. Especially thinking clearly and in principle. All of which are hated by the left and so may well no longer be taught in schools. Left wing nihilists, who reject facts and reason and substitute emotional whim and blind obedience to ideology, are now in charge of the education system. So fear mongering works with some people who are products of that education system.
