I’m wondering if it would be worth doing an episode in which the conspiracy theory is “taken seriously”–that is, detailing just how remarkable such a successful conspiracy would have to be. The SFX technology, the secrecy, the elaborate lengths (convincing some guy that he’d helped build a special drill for use on the moon, etc.) that the conspiracy went to. The diplomacy or blackmail that would’ve been needed to convince the Russians not to share their sensor data showing that the Apollo missions never left orbit, etc.

All that: what a towering achievement!

And then end by pointing out that actually going to the moon would’ve been pretty small peanuts in comparison.

Is Owen Benjamin a flat-earther too?
That sounds like a flat earthed argument, about the moon being a 2 dimensional object.
I remember a video I saw where some guy who had clearly lost his mind did a test where he thought a bubble level on an airplane would indicate that the nose of the plane was tilted down, if the earth was round.(The nose would have to point down to stay in the atmosphere apparently. Somehow, if the nose wasn’t pointed downward, the plane fly off into space??)

Bill, in response to a comment, you mentioned that maybe in future SLs you would not do the intro talk, but just answer questions. If you were to do that, and if you can’t get Daily Wire to produce more content, maybe you could answer qustions every other week on SL. For the other weeks, perhaps you could “semi-script” shows like your Leyte Gulf series, or the “Worst Moments in History” series.

Granted, they wouldn’t be as polished as “Apollo,” but I’d rather see them presented than miss them completely. Perhaps you could have maps and other visuals ready to go even if you couldn’t have the deep production of “Apollo.”

I know that’s more work than just answering questions, but, admit it: You like telling stories, don’t you? 🙂 I think you’d enjoy it, and I know many of us would. (But I understand you only have so much time per week.)

Scott!! Regarding podcasts:

I guarantee you that many of us BWDC members DO enjoy watching Bill’s (and yours and Stephen’s) face during RA, BWN and SL.

MANY people commented about having trouble finding the Apollo videos. I believe they would have many more hits if they were easier to find.

The Firewalls and the Apollo documtary are CERTAINLY enhanced by video content – some Firewalls more than others. If Bill does his Leyte Gulf series, it definitely would be enhanced with maps, pictures of ships (particularly to show the difference between Taffy 3 ships and IJN capital ships) and any other audio or video that would augment the telling of the story.

I realize you need to be a money-making enterprise. I want to point out (strongly) that I (and I *think*) many others greatly appreciate video. In fact, I have never listened to Klavan or Shapiro podcasts (or ANY others.) I watch their videos.

I enjoy both watching and listening to content like this, but driving to work and back, or out on my bike, I prefer listening, and living.

Scott, there are many times where I run the video and just listen. Frequently while making dinner. Very sharp knives and visual distractions do not a good combination make. My wife prefers dinner without my blood.

Maybe it’s an age thing (baby boomer), used to watching… I never really got into talk radio, which is what it seems to me podcasts are. I always ‘watch’ Klavan and Rush, because I like seeing the facial expressions, etc. That doesn’t mean I’m not doing anything but watching, I’m also reading my emails (another thing of the past?), or playing my version of video games, electronic solitaire…

Bill, for the 4-part Leyte Gulf ‘cast: Surigao is, I’m pretty sure, pronounced, “surry GOW.”

Also, perhaps the 1st episode should be a strategic run-up to Leyte, with particular reference to the naval battles off Guadalcanal. That would provide context and put things in perspective; that is, the USN had good reason to respect Japanese surface capabilities even in late ’44.

I realize that would mean each part of the Leyte battle wouldn’t get its own episode, but Halsey’s action at Cape Engano is perhaps better presented in coordination with the Battle off Samar, since it is almost anti-climactic in and of itself, but bears so much on Taffy 3’s plight.

Thus, Episode 1 would be an overview of the Pacific War up to the summer of ’44 with a retelling of the “other” major surface engagements off Guadalcanal.

Episode 2 would cover the Submarine action in Palawan Passage and the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea.

Episode 3 would be the Battle off Surigao Strait, but would begin with a discussion of Halsey’s plans for TF 34 in the San Bernardino Strait.

Episode 4 would then be the Battle off Samar and the Battle of Cape Engano.

The detailed description of the invasion, and the USN and Japanese plans for the upcoming battles could come at the end of episode 1, or the beginning of episode 2, depending on where they seem to fit best in tempo, etc.

You have opened a window into my childhood, growing up in the space race and the Cold War. Part 4 is truly the best and an incredible conclusion of the series. I am a Daily Wire and Bill Whittle member and am addicted to Facebook. I have been looking forward to this series and yet, I had great difficulty finding these videos. Daily Wire doesn’t have them on their site. You posted them here a day late. YouTube buried them in the ERT channel. I wish that advertising had been better. I share them all on Facebook and I texted links to my grandchildren, but I don’t know how to help advertise them better.

I couldn’t find where to put this comment, so TSL is as good a place as any.
I just watched “What We Saw pt. 4”.
I, too, am 60 years old. I, too, was 10 years old for Apollo 11.

I have just watched the best program I have ever seen. I keep wiping my eyes as I’m typing this.

So, now, I have just one question…Bill, you have just now done the best work of your life…..

Now What?

Thank you.
