Some time ago. Bill mentioned the Flight channel. TY Bill! I watched just about every one of those videos I could get. The reasons and circumstances behind air crashes was so informative and yet, it was also very tragic. These were human beings caught in often unavoidable deadly situations. When Bill writes the story of his futuristic pioneer family, I’m glad it will be positive. I hope it will also be real.
It’s not a question of morality with life on the frontier, Bill. It’s a question of risk, independence, and responsibility. Most of the American pioneers that migrated west had to deal with hostilities with natives. They had to deal with Panthers, bears, scorpions and wolves. Things other people couldn’t put up with on top of having to know how to trap, hunt and forage. It was a life that required a lot of skill.
On the other hand, if the land which you find proves to be very hospitable and relatively safe and fruitful, you end up with the Sodom and Gomorrah problem, because they did experience your morality ‘problem’ when resources and sharing the land became a concern for them. This is why they began to mistreat and abuse foreigners who came to their land. It was easy to patrol, since there were only 2 or three mountain passes into this huge valley on the west of the Dead Sea, apart from the southern and northern passes along the shore.
In your future, you can have both if these, and your beasts and hostile environments could be what make the future conservative better people, and better neighbors.
There’s a book, The Backwoodsman: Life on the American Frontier, by L Wraxall. The author may come up as anonymous, but you can find it for free, Bill. It has a wealth of information and it is a grand adventure. You see what happens when a man is feared by the native tribes, to the point his reputation causes the surrounding tribes to sue for a peace treaty, and how this almost immediately results in other whites moving nearby to settle.
He sees slaves brought by his new neighbor, Lazar, who construct his houses and buildings and fences. The blacks are very astute and talented builders, but he remarks on their being simple. What I don’t think Lascelles realizes is that men who are subdued like this kill the natural curiosity, social traits and ambitions they might have at one point had. They HAVE to, when survival is the only interest and option which they have in a dehumanized condition. They grow accustomed to others making decisions for them and directing their lives. But this is what Wraxall left behind when he came to the frontier. It is a mighty work and the kind of life I think you’re trying to write about is in this short diary.

The pioneer family story line only works, if you leave it so the person watching is left with the question. The moral delema of what would I do. You can’t make it black and white or beat people over the head with your point of view. I know for me personally, it takes me out of the story.
Bill, your talk on writing dialog and the longshoreman got me thinking of my hitch in the Navy. When I went on active duty, I didn’t swear ever and I used “big words.” I found to be accepted I had to learn to swear and use simpler words. You have to walk the walk to know what it’s like.
I am not a very educated man by any means, but it seems to me that the most sexist and “white supremacist” group in this country is and always was the Democratic Party. They are afraid of a rich educated black community because they might loss their hold over them. Not might, will!
This is not new, but remains from before the Civil War and was heightened by their loss of wealth and control after it. Suddenly they were reduced to being poor and homeless just like their former servants and field workers.
Ever since then, their main goal was to reclaim their wealth and control over ALL people at every other person’s expense regardless of the consequences, even if they have to destroy the country to do it. What they DON’T realize is by embracing socialism, they are opening up the possibility of loosing everything they spent so much time and effort to build. If they weren’t afraid of us Patriots, why is there a razor-wire fence around the Capitol building with troops guarding it? Is that even Constitutional? Who gave them authority to do that? It certainly wasn’t me!
Personally, I can’t see any way to change things other than open armed revolt. As much as I hope it never comes to that, it seems inevitable.
Collapse:
I once saw “overnight success” defined as what follows years of hard work.
So I guess “overnight collapse” is defined as what follows years of hard work as well.
Math is racist because colored folk can’t be expected to think.
Progressives are seizing the white man’s burden and will release it only when it’s pried from their cold, dead fingers.
So at the beginning Bill mentioned the increasing number of people getting the vaccine. I have to start by mentioning I’m not an anti-vax guy, both my kids are vaccinated (not from KungFlu, all the other stuff). I agree a vaccine for the virus is a medical miracle, and to have a couple companies arrive at a successful one at roughly the same time is pretty amazing. BUT, why is no one mentioning the fact that it is new, and NO ONE has a single clue what the long term side effects are. I think the vaccine should go to the older more at risk people, these people have less time in their lives to get to long term effects. But younger people, not even in a risk category, are lining up for this grand experiment. I don’t get why people not in a risk group are willing to shoot up with something and have no idea how it will effect them 10, 15 or 20 years from now.
So again, why is no one talking about this?
I fully agree. This new type of vaccine may turn out to be a turning point in human health–or it may not. The point is that we don’t know, and what’s being done now is the biggest trial in history.
I totally agree. I find it crazy too that some people in trying to spread more fear about how bad Covid is say that we don’t know what the long term side effects of catching Covid are, and yet those same people have no qualms about the long term side effects of injecting some mysterious chemicals into your body from these vaccines. Covid is just another coronavirus, I have almost no concern about long term side effects just like I don’t get concerned about long time side effects when I catch the common cold (often times strains of coronaviruses). I am much more concerned about the long term side effects of this brand new vaccine that is mRNA too, not even the typical style so we have no idea what long term side effects are.
Yep, I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking this whole thing is pretty serious, but not in the way people think.
Here COVID-19 actually stands for COrona Virus ID #19. That means there are 18+ previously identified Corona viruses already out there. I’ve heard doctors postulating that’s why so many of the population showed T cells for Corona virus that would also help combat 19.
I love Bill’s take on science too. Where its a process based on doubt. The whole idea about THE science is pretty stupid. We have the vaccine and THE science says its the saving chemical, but lets be honest, THE science is merely a bunch of humans in lab coats that only have a slight bit more idea of what they’re talking about than we do, well, those of us that can read and don’t just watch CNN all day.
A minor note on nomenclature. The -19 is from 2019. “Covid-19” is the disease identified in 2019 that is caused by the virus named SARS-CoV-2.
There are hundreds of coronaviruses. They mutate quickly. Collectively they are called “the common cold,” and the reason no one has ever invented a vaccine is because the viruses mutate so quickly that vaccines are mostly useless, even more useless than influenza vaccines.
Ivermectin, on the other hand, is not a vaccine but an anti-parasitic and now-we-know wide-spectrum anti-viral drug that kills everything from SARS-CoV-2 to HIV-1. It is also a macrolide antibiotic that kills antibiotic-resistant forms of tuberculosis. It has been given out freely in Africa and Asia and South America for four decades to the tune of 4.8 billion doses. It has a better safety record than some vitamins. The people who discovered it received a Nobel prize.
And now, since 2020, we know that ivermectin is to viruses what penicillin is to bacteria. The implications are profound, and they are still emerging.
Thanks for the correction.
I really enjoy watching these on Friday mornings.
