I disagree that the Drake equation is useless. What it shows us is just how many fundamental variables we don’t understand.
That makes it more or less useless for it’s originally intended purpose though doesn’t it?
Not necessarily. It gives us a useful framework of where to look.

Love the pop-science introduction to the rare Earth hypothesis very good and enjoyable following your thought process on this, although nothing real news was revealed the combining of things was new and gave me a new perspective… So thank you very much for connecting he dots. And to the people haters out there,a pox on your house, take pride in what you have accomplished, there may be bleak spots on our history but we’re learning from that and are moving forward,only limited but knucke-dragging progressives.

An especially good and greatly enjoyed TSL. Got me thinking with much gratitude what an improbable and wonderful thing it is to be alive and have the chance to contemplate such things. Add a term to the Drake equation for the probability of there being a Bill and a Stratosphere Lounge, and for all of us having found them so we get to enjoy pondering these big questions together.
