The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the Second World War. Don’t take my word for it: hear it from the lips of the one person capable of making that decision. Recorded in 2009.

I give stewart props for his efforts on behalf of the 9/11 first responders; but it’s pretty rich of someone who never put ANYthing on the line for anybody, complaining about decisions someone else made to save lives.
Done as a true CRITICAL THINKER. No blinders.. just the facts…naked and sharp.
I L O V E the pjtv archives .
Semper Fi….
God Bless you guys…
Thank you. Words like, “superlative,” “incredible,” “powerful,” and “amazing,” don’t even scratch the paint on this video. These words aren’t even bugs on a windshield. Stuart’s pathetic parade of psuedo-intellectual putridity betrays the fundamental America-hating (willing) ignorance of the sewer rat Leftists. The problem is that most of the sewer rats would be happy to brand Lincoln (because he was a Republican) and FDR (because sewer rats eat their own) as war criminals. They absolutely hate anything that might have perpetuated American greatness, because they define American greatness as “evil.” (Masters of projection.) Leftists are traitors to themselves, to America, to civilization, to humanity, and to decency itself.
Heavy load dumped on Truman. Perfect decision on his part and this is a GREAT video.
These flashback videos are wonderful… my all-time favorite was one Bill did on Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman. I should see if I can still find it, or, Bill, maybe you could treat us to that one as well?
Go find Mas Ayoob’s breakdown of the case and trial as well. An excellent read and full of Mas’ wisdom and insight. (www.backwoodshome.com)
I remember being one of the folks that kept bugging him to speak out about the case. It turns out he COULDN’T, because George Z’s attorneys snatched him up as a key expert in the defense of the case. It wasn’t until after the verdict that he could speak publicly about it.
Thank you, Phil, I’ll certainly do that! I remember a funny political joke that George Z was gonna change his name to “Ben Ghazi” so people would quit talking about him (:
Great vid – I posted a link this in my last roundup until September.
I’m following Dave Rubin’s example and using the month for a News Cleanse. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and see y’all in September!
Shared with my adult kids – too often their opinion is shaped by media when facts are difficult to argue.
What happened to Afterburner? Did that show disappear with PJMedia?
this video gets a great big southern “HELL YEAH” from me and deserves to be seen in every elementary and high school class room in the country. Jon Stewart is a moron
And the irony of the spirit of that decision Truman had to make is that he was kept in the dark by FDR and his lackeys to the very end of FDR’s life… That decision Truman made sadly, I think, is a decision that very well would not be made in any sort of similar circumstance today. Thank God for Harry Truman.
Is this video set to playback at a slightly higher speed than originally recorded?
You know, you can mirror all these older videos to Rumble? Allegedly, even easier than my manual method of playlist ripping.
They have a thing called YouTube Sync. I imagine you have to dedicate what ever computer you have to the process for a day or two, but it sounds pretty simple.

I’m sure you will be fact-checked for references to the Air Force, even though that was a common term for the AAC at the time, even if it wasn’t a separate branch.
I forgot how good Bill is at this sort of long form essay. Top notch.
I am going to send this to a friend who teaches HS History here so he can show his students.
I very much agree, Bill does an exceptional job at this sort of thing. The impact of him in a video presentation far outweighs the impact of just reading the written text because his delivery is excellent. He gets across all the emphases and nuances that are always absent in just text alone.
You have a local HS History teacher that still teaches real history? That’s amazing. My HS History teachers were excellent and fascinating. With the exception of “Gibber” (hard “G”) Felton. I counted all the “Ah”‘s and “Um”‘s he interjected in his class lectures one time. The number was somewhere in the 600’s. In a 60 minute class it was more than 10 per minute. The guy knew his history but unlike Bill he was a terrible speaker.
I use Bill’s videos to explain history to others too. I’ve made my nephew and sons sit through a bunch of them. Cumulatively, not all at once.
I wonder how many views Daily Wire got from his most recent project? Any idea?
I don’t and I still need to join DW to get the new one.
We recently sat down as a family and determined that there were two streaming services that we can do without which will enable to pick up DW at least for a while.
There was a third that Ronette wanted to keep so I told her that $5 per month was on her.
One had increased in price twice and we were keeping it through inertia and couldn’t recall the last time we had watched anything on it.
Probably an exercise that needs to be done at least once per year.
So that HS teacher watched the video and is going to use it in a section on bias in historical research and to show why it is necessary to get news from various sources.
It is a good thing to have this discussion every other year or so in August. We need to understand that history and environment as clearly as possible. Plus, in today’s world of laggardly governmental response to anything, it is hard to appreciate just how quickly events progressed at that time: initial testing on July 16, to two bombs dropped and surrender announced on August 14. Of course there was substantial incentive to finish the war as soon as reasonably possible, at least from the US side, if not in the view of the Japanese military clique.
We also benefit from the version of history and events Bill has provided here (in 2009), but there is another view, published in Foreign Policy magazine (in 2013). This FP article suggests the core impetus for the Japanese surrender was the declaration of war against Japan by the Soviet Union. The USSR still had a substantial military capability available for Eastern military adventures once victory in Europe was declared. For the Japanese, this new prospect of trying to defend against both the US and USSR military attacking from both the South and the North was a losing proposition. There were also other social and political factors in play for an anticipated post war situation (see linked item).

Bill’s report on the number of large Japanese cities and percentages of destruction from the conventional bombing campaigns actually aligns with this article. It reports that the Japanese had already withstood equivalent damage over the prior weeks, so seeing similar destruction of the remaining capabilities via an A-bomb in days might not have been that persuasive to the fanatical Japanese military (and the Emperor) to lead them to surrender.
Somewhere I mentioned this FP article previously [it could have been here, or elsewhere?], and someone replied that an article from Foreign Policy (presumably having a liberal bias) should not be treated as credible. That is an ad hominum argument that should not be respected, but discussion of the limits and merits of the points in this FP article certainly deserve deeper attention. I find it very convincing and persuasive, pending seeing alternative valid history. [We can also explore the power of AND, that both elements played a part in the Japanese final decisions.]
My father was stationed on the Pacific island of Saipan, in a support role rather than a combat related one, so I can’t make as firm a response as Bill can about the possibility that Mr. Whittle senior might have been killed in a major assault if the bomb had not been used, thereby voiding the birth of Bill. Dad never discussed his activity during WWII, although there is a photo of him with several others at the motor pool they helped to maintain. I gathered he was not fond of the Japanese, but eventually he did end up buying a Wankel engine Mazda pickup truck. So I suppose he finally made peace with his war time experiences.
Hello George, I am also familiar with the FP article and do find it credible. Multiple influences are part of any nation’s actions and the potential of the Russian entry, especially given their potential for domination of Japan must have been influential. Note, my father was a Navy corpsman connected to the Marines at Peleliu and Okanawa. While he was still alive, I traveled many times to Japan as a musician. When you see that thriving country, you know Japan and the US made the right choices, despite the horrific initial consequences.
Magnificent! True to their goals, the Left has systematically erased accurate history through the dumbing down of American education to the point that the conventionally educated believe that America is always the baddie.
I got the same message on the video, but the audio was worth listening to.
Am I too early or something? Because it says “This video is private”…
