Too Violent? Hollywood Gunslingers, Politicians in Urban Murder Pits Reject Brutality of Bible

Are Leftist celebrities and politicians justified in rejecting the Bible because it’s so violent?

Violence throughout the Bible leads some on the Left to reject its brutality. But is this a fair critique, or more hypocrisy from Hollywood gunslingers and political leaders of Democrat ‘murder pits’?

You say God does not condone or permit violence, that it is a result of instability caused by disobedience. Yet, when Bill says there are some bad hombres out there we need to fight, Zoe applauds. Now don’t try to duck it and say it is meant in opposition and not literal physical violence, because I know you are not anti war when you think we are reducing the instability of a nation or people and restoring law.

When the fighters in the bible ask, should we go to war with the so and so’s, or not? And the Lord replies, Yes and I will hand them over to you. Who is the one condoning it? When you say that the things written in scriptures rail against natural inclinations, but you find slavery within the bible as an institution… do you continue to allow your conditioning to reject it wholesale? Because I can tell you that slavery or bondage in the Law is not the same, it is incompatible, with the forms of slavery you have come to reject.

Why should a Catholic have to teach you? We know nothing, right?

It is futile to bemoan the hypocrisy of the Left. Though doing so can be mildly entertaining at times.

The Left does not care about it’s own hypocrisy. They see it, they know it and they don’t care. Only people striving not to be hypocrites care about that and those people are not the people on the Left.

Someone who says that the Bible is “too violent” and withholds their support for and subsequently rejects The Book thereby is not presenting a logical reason or any sort of sensible argument.

That’s an excuse, which is not the same thing. It’s an undeniable excuse because there is a lot of violence in the Bible and we all know that. All such a person needs to do is stick to the excuse in spite of and ignore everything else that’s in the Bible.

It would be equally valid to refuse to consider the Bible legitimate because it’s printed on paper. I.E. “I don’t believe the Bible because it has too many pages and it’s printed with ink on paper.” It is in fact composed of a lot of pages which consist of ink printed on paper. There’s more to it than that but if that’s the excuse that satisfies you then that’s what it is.

This is not a valid argument, it is not a reason, it is an excuse. It is not something which will respond to reasoning because reasoning is not how it came to be.

You cannot open the eyes of someone who has struck himself blind on purpose. Pointing out hypocrisy to a prideful, willful hypocrite is like pointing out its odor to a skunk. To them it’s a feature not a bug, a benefit not a liability. It is the common miasma of the air they collectively breath.

It is futile to bemoan the hypocrisy of the Left, the way is shut.

They can, and have often been, brought to a place of repentance.
Jail helps with that. 🙂

So how do you send someone to jail and “bring them to a place of repentance” when their crime is “the Bible is too violent so I don’t believe it.”? I wasn’t aware that was a criminal offense prosecutable under the law. Fact is, most people who go to jail do not repent either.

None of that has anything to do with what I said anyway.

I said it does no good to bemoan the hypocrisy of the left. Meaning that we can point it out to everyone all day every day and doing that will have no effect on the behavior of the hypocritical Left whatsoever.

Please feel free to point to examples where the hypocrisy of the Left having been pointed out to them has resulted in an alteration of their behavior towards a non-hypocritical state.

Tyrants demand worship: Hitler, Stalin, Mao, all the communist and right wing rulers with their big military parades and mandatory cheering crowds (and their mandatory anti-good-health mandates).
My God is not a tyrant. He wants me to do good, and gives 10 rules for how to go about that.
If He demands worship I’m screwed…or is he screwed? Does He want heaven to be populated by toadies? I think not; I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Frank Herbert’s “DUNE” is immersive to read and is among the best of what science fiction can offer. I think that it is the best-selling science fiction book of all time, as well. My feeling is that it can never be translated to the screen, with this latest version the best attempt so far but still “meh”. That said, I felt the same way about “The Lord of the Rings” (not science fiction, but fantasy), and the extended versions of this trilogy by Peter Jackson came awfully close and stunned me. (The “Ents” were even better than my imagination).

Being a committed Christian and a student of the Bible and very appreciative of this series, it was said that God never called for violence. That’s quite untrue. There were a few instances in the Bible where God called for the killing and slaying of all the inhabitants of certain areas. Saul himself was put to task by Samuel the prophet for not killing all the cattle even though he killed all the men women and children of a particular area.
