Airlines, desperate to get passengers safely back in the air, work on an app that certifies your COVID-negative status. Questions immediately arise about privacy, accuracy and practical implementation. Would you carry the travel pass app so you can restore your pre-COVID-19 lifestyle? What if the government required it?

Respectfully and genuinely, you are all more educated men than I, and I look forward to your often thought-provoking content, yet I cannot comprehend how you do not understand what’s really going on here, especially Mr. Ott (I know you pretend to be a liberal, but this is too believable if that’s what you’re doing here which I do not believe to be the case). Each of you is far too intelligent to really believe this violation of human dignity is “OK.”
Do you really see nothing wrong with normalizing letting a teenager or anyone take your temperature and forcing you to cover your face, in essence, your identity? You and Mr. Whittle are really “OK with that?” It’s so “natural?” Mr. Green just finished warning that once you give “them” power they NEVER relinquish it. So you’re OK masking your face for the rest of your life? And no, this is not exaggeration.
I’ve invested 100s of hours examining this crime against humanity, from every angle. We are in a spiritual battle and COVID is the END game. Please, PLEASE examine the facts, go deeper [links below]
Masks, and social distancing, have NOTHING to do with slowing the spread (they are both 100% worthless behaviors) and EVERYTHING to do with control and ritual initiation. Again, research the FACTS.
You come across as controlled opposition in this video. I pay to hear intelligent content that I won’t hear on the MSM. Please consider your responsibly to your listeners to present deep TRUTH. I appreciate you may not all be Christians but we are in the final days, all as prophesied in the Bible, and this is the final grasp to gain full control over all those that will be sheep.

Well said, Scott!
MAKE 1984 FICTION AGAIN!!!!
I bought two of these; one a Christmas gift for my brother and one for myself.
https://chummytees.com/products/1984-was-not-supposed-to-be-an-instruction-manual-t-shirt-hoodie-tank-top?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5bz-BRD-ARIsABjT4ngke_abJGGSbVnMoSJngQ4j91nzq58FIMzq2Mn958ukmBlVKGhuqsYaAnzzEALw_wcB&variant=20365946950
That’s great! Thanks for the link!!
Scott, no offense, but if they want to take your temperature before you can be seated, they are presuming you are guilty until proven innocent. That’s a perversion of being an American.
Would you tell the manager you presume he beats his wife unless he can produce her and you can see she has no bruises and she’ll swear he doesn’t? Same thing. I won’t eat at a restaurant that wants to take my temperature–they are all owned by wife-beaters.
“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” – Revelations 13:17
That said… Scott, don’t lick the disease. That’s a horrible idea!!!!
Bill and Scott stated they are both fine with being forced to wear masks and getting their temperature taken to go to a restaurant. I wonder just how much further they would be willing to go and I also wonder how you would feel about it if I told you that you’d have to wear a mask and get your temperature taken to go to a restaurant for the rest of your lives?
The thing is, and I know both of you already know this, the left has been waging death by 1000 cuts in the form of “oh just concede this one thing and compromise it’s no big deal” and over time with enough iterations that “compromising” has added up to the gutting of the Constitution and it’s ideals as they were written. I believe we have already compromised too much and have drawn my line in the sand. I’m not taking another step backwards, not one inch.
I live in one of those states where this kind of nonsense has the force of
lawexecutive order behind it and I will not be forced to wear a mask even if it means giving up something I like. I have not worn one once since this started and I will not do it in the future regardless of the consequences. I will also not become vaccinated for C19. It has nothing to do with whether I think it is a good idea or not, I simply do not recognize the state’s authority to mandate it and any attempts towards mandating it will be met with a middle finger. None of this shit is about safety, it’s about obedience. This road leads to a very bad place and I’m sure as hell not going to be led down it willingly.Excellent reference to Patrick Henry! We must fight all the harder…“It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.” — Samuel Adams.
We got thru 9 months of it, thinking that it was going to end someday… well, it’s now legitimately ‘flu season’, and the tyranny has only increased, and, like Bill, we’re tired of it.
I wanted to go out to eat today, but our dictator/king Newsom has locked down all regular restaurants, leaving open only fast food (which has now become slow food because of the overwhelming of the system).
Rather than waiting in the unprecedentedly long drive-thru line, I parked and went into the counter to order. Mask on, of course… (and yes, Scott, I do feel for you needing to breath your own fumes 8+ hrs/day).
I get my food, and since we can’t eat inside (for the last 9 months), I go out and eat in my car, like the other dozen people parked around me. And I think, I wonder how we have been reduced to this… this unhygienic, unwieldy, uncomfortable means of eating, just to be out w/ other people.
When is it going to end, and we can go back to being the civilized humanity we used to be?
This is not “normal” for these times, this is tyranny, and you accept it, Ott. Fornicate off!!
I agree with all but your last sentence, a bit course.
So if I have the vaccine, I really don’t care if the person next to me didn’t get it. Since I did (in this hypothetical) and am protected, doesn’t matter to me if you are ill. I take responsibility for myself and weigh my own risks. Not gov’ts job to do that for me.
If you don’t want to risk getting on an airplane, then don’t.
If you are open to that risk, that is your risk to take with the fore-knowledge that there may be some people who are infectious; as there have always been.
I will not comply. Good thing I’ve done all the world traveling I wanted to do in life. I can and will quite happily drive to anywhere in the US. Except those disgusting locations on the east/west coasts. Blech…. Nothing there I want to see/visit.
I don’t own a smartphone nor do I ever have the need for an expensive devise that I can’t afford. Having said that, recently my car broke down on the highway and I called AAA from my flip-phone. They told me they would be there soon and asked me if I had other transportation because I couldn’t ride in the truck with the driver! I couldn’t use Uber or Lyft because I had to have a smartphone and taxi companies didn’t answer or call me back. If the truck driver hadn’t broken the rules and taken me home I would have been hitchhiking out on the highway in the cold dark night! If this Covid crap doesn’t end soon, it’ll be the death of me one way or the other! I won’t take the vaccine until it has proven to be safe for almost a year in actual use and maybe not even then. I haven’t had a flu shot in 15 years and haven’t gotten sick so I’ll take my chances.
Recently, my 21-year-old daughter and her three friends were similarly-stranded on I-40 20 miles west of Williams, AZ. They had the same problem with AAA, so they called the AZ Dept. Public Safety. A squad car was dispatched ,and the tow truck driver broke the rules for two passengers while the officer taxied my daughter and another. These young ladies have no business hitchhiking on an interstate highway, so I was thankful that there are those in public service willing to ignore the damned bureaucracies.
This insanity needs to end! NOW!
Yes, I thought about that later, the fact that I could have called 911 and most likely gotten a ride, but in the intensity of the moment I hadn’t thought about that. With the State Police, this would have been a no-brainer, but City of Syracuse, not so much. AAA has been outstanding until the Covid hit.
While I might concede some intelligence behind taking some vaccines (I won’t), but NEVER EVER take this one.
Nothing says “Liberty” like having to produce documents to be allowed to travel.
I’m visiting Istanbul for the next few months (BTW – try the “Wet Burger” near Taksim Square – it’s excellent!) and getting your temp taken with the infrared gun is quite common. At least it indicates whether you’re infectious at that moment.
Jan, presuming someone is infected unless proven healthy is un-American, which is probably why it is common in Instanbul.
There’s an easier way to do this than with a phone*. You can lose your phone. Your phone can get broken. Your phone can get stolen. Your phone battery might be exhausted. Etc …
The easier way is to implant an RFID chip in your right hand or forehead. I’m sure such a chip can be created that contains a medical “all clear” and monitors your temperature. You can’t lose an implanted chip by accident …
And as Scott points out, the public is now being automatically introduced to being scanned by a device for body temperature, an RFID scanner looks and acts remarkably similar. So that won’t be a hurdle.
Then anyone who doesn’t have a chip can’t travel on public conveyances … or buy or sell …
Sound familiar to anyone?
*To be clear, because some people will not read this carefully, I am not advocating for this “easier way”.
When I have a free couple of hours I am going to find Bill’s TSL that he did from his mock cave when he changed the website name to “The Common Sense Resistance” ( I still wear my fleece jacket with that on the back) He did a whole episode about getting the rice size chip removed from your arm. Not sure how far back in the archives that is, but when I find it I will post in the member blog. If anyone else finds it first, please post it.
That would be interesting, thanks.
I’d be interested to see what he said. A chip, like any other foreign body, will become encysted and bound to the surrounding tissue … So it’s a good idea not to leave such a thing in place for too long. Else getting it out becomes a serious minor surgery to avoid damaging muscles and tendons.
New Blog post up. TSL Ep 60 from April 2014
Not everyone should need the vaccine anyway. What about those who have had the virus and recovered? They may not get life long immunity, but they should have immunity for a couple of years. Even Fauci says so.

I don’t want all my personal health info on my phone, where anyone who has no business knowing my business could get it. And I have no intention of ever receiving the Mark of the Beast.
I wasn’t specifically addressing the vaccine, or vaccines in general, or the vaccines now coming online and those future improvements of whatever vaccines there may be.
It’s been enough when I have traveled internationally to produce my vaccination record when and where required. This is not an unreasonable requirement in those circumstances. At one time or another I’ve been vaccinated for every communicable disease a vaccine is available for and I’m sure that most if not all of those vaccinations have worn off by now. So ..
I think a paper record works just fine for that. No record is totally secure if you must carry it on your person. I was robbed in front of the Staz Termini in Rome and they got everything; passport and vaccination records included. If cell phones were a thing back then they’d have gotten that too.
I see no reason why a paper record isn’t sufficient. I wouldn’t object to a card readable form either, basically the same thing. If you carry your cards in an RFID proof wallet that is, and I do.
As for those who don’t need it. OK. Don’t see how that applies to this thread. If you’ve had China Flu that information can be as easily put in a medical document no matter what sort it is.
As for “The Mark of the Beast” … That was my actual point and I agree with you on that.
Very likely, the data will not be on your phone. Your phone will just be a unique identifier, coded to you. That will be keyed to a database lookup somewhere else. The larger risk is all of your information being available in a hackable remote database somewhere!
This RFID chip is the same thing. It’s just a machine readable code response, not really any different from a scannable bar code. Once you’re identified, then the lookup happens through the system.
As a victim of the OPM data breach several years ago, I can attest to the fact that data security is truly a thing of the past (if it ever was), and it is ALL online — especially medical records.
Maryanne, I don’t want an experimental vaccine, for which the long-term effects are unknown, for a disease with a 99% survival rate.
Leelu Dallas, Multi-Pass! Muuulti-Pass!!
Bill says it best.
If anyone thinks that this wouldn’t metastasize into some Big Brother-ish intrusive big Gov’t monstrosity, they must be running a fever.
And therefor, can’t get on the plane…
To Scott’s point, our response to the great depression is exactly what I’m worried about. There are a lot of parallels: Hoover was sort of like a 20th-century Trump, a rich businessman turned controversial right-wing politician. When he was voted out during the depression, FDR was elected and instituted the National Recovery Administration, including the “blue laws” which were essentially socialism-lite: price-fixing and wage fixing, a planned economy. That part of the New Deal was ruled unconstitutional by the supreme court, but the other part, Social Security, is an expensive collapsing mess that we’re still dealing with almost a century later.
I’m afraid that we’re not just going to get through it, we’re going to do something else amazingly stupid just like last time and ruin our economy and country for another hundred years.
Temperature is “covid theater”. On a number of levels.

With all due apologies, in advance.
If we are students of our own revolution (which we rightly ought to be,) governmental power is derived from the people. If we assume what we are experiencing is so derived, then one could argue the struggle for liberty is lost, regardless of some voting machine corruption. (The acceptance of which is merely additional evidence.)
The “people” have shuddered in fear and from their darkened corners, have demanded protection that does not protect, safety that is not safe, and a life subservient to elites. In their defense, there was never much of a choice. Ain’t “democracy” grand?

Love the quote. Intend to cite it and then add “and will get neither.”
Love the quote too. Think of it often, especially in regards to this thing called “covid”. (Like any of us can expect to get out alive.)
I am constantly amazed at the wisdom of the Framers; that despite significant differences and bickering, they still managed to assemble – via horse and over great distances – the various representatives whose concerns were finalized into that cogent expression of human philosophy, and govt. I am humbled by them; and sadly, ashamed of what we’ve done to their gracious gift.
Said Nikita,”…without firing a shot.”
Reminds me of watching one of those White House press conferences at the beginning of this Covid mess. At one point Dr. Birx turned to Dr. Fauci and said, ” I can’t believe how easy this was!”
I have no interest in using an app or papers to “prove” that I am well enough to travel by air or any other method. TSA is more than enough. All of us need to push back now. I can easily see being denied to travel due to a false positive being an issue.
It won’t end with TSA either. It will be adopted first by all government entities and then slowly, but surely, by the private sector. It’s been a while since we’ve had any reasonable expectation of privacy.
Next time someone wants to shoot that “No Touch’ infrared light at your forehead, offer your wrist. It produces the exact same temperature. Or you can offer your elbow. The infrared is not very safe for anyone. Tends to damage the pineal gland in the brain. So far here in CA, no one has freaked out over taking my temp from my wrist. I own a talking, no touch, temp reader. Same temp from forehead, wrist and elbow.
What you said about temperatures taken from areas other than the forehead is correct. However, what you said about infrared having an effect on the pineal gland (correctly referred to anatomically as the “pineal body”) is not.
Infrared is a long wavelength of light. It’s just light. It doesn’t matter that you can’t see it, it’s light. Like any other light. Longer wavelengths penetrate less. Long wavelength infrared doesn’t even penetrate the dead skin cell layer of the epidermis. It does heat those cells up and that’s what you feel as warmth from infrared light. This is what makes shorter wavelengths like ultraviolet dangerous, they penetrate more and can reach living cells under the epidermis to cause damage.
Infrared doesn’t completely penetrate your skin let alone go all the way through muscle, blood, bone and brain tissue to get to the pineal body..
The temperature sensors do not emit infrared, they measure the infrared light YOU are emitting. It works the same but on a more precise scale as any motion detector light you ever walked in front of … And I’m sure none of those motion detectors have had a detrimental effect on your pineal body, nor anyone else’s.
If the temperature sensor emitted infrared it would be warming up the skin where it hits and render the sensor useless. Even if they did emit infrared, you would get far more infrared exposure from less than a second of direct sunlight than any handheld battery powered device could project to your forehead.
If infrared light was damaging to the pineal body then sunlight would do far more damage than any normal exposure to infrared that any normal human being would ever experience from artificial sources. Infrared heaters would be killing and deforming children in the homes where such things are used.
Some temperature sensors do emit a laser dot pointer but that is also at harmless power levels. Coherent Light, generally known as “laser” has to be projected at power levels far beyond what any temperature sensor emits. It will not harm your skin but it is never advisable to beam coherent light into the interior of an eyeball so that it hits the retina. Had you been concerned about someone taking your temperature and accidentally shooting a laser beam into your eye … That would have been a more valid concern but not a lot more valid.
I’m taking the time to write this out because it is vital that we conservatives have the correct, actual, real information on topics we discuss in public. There is too much nonsense being spread around and repeating nonsense makes us all appear nonsensical. The enemy on the left, and make no mistake they are our enemies by their own design, loves to see people calling themselves “conservatives” spouting ridiculous pseudo-science, Doing that is a detriment to conservatism, not an asset.
That’s why you’re getting thumbs down votes on this comment.
There are quite a few bright, well educated people here on this forum. My advice would be that rather than state something you’ve heard like infrared damaging the pineal body you just ask and one of us will be happy to help you understand if it’s true or not. And why. As I have tried to do above.
Oh my. How cranky. You must have been having a bad day. And lots of time on your hands.
The crux of the post was to tell people the options they have in taking their temperature.
Scott always offered his forehead, so he didn’t know. And I bet many other people who read the post didn’t know either. And as much as you criticize and degrade, the actual gist of the post was informative.
I stand corrected on the pineal thing. I read about it months ago and asked my doctor. He said to just offer your wrist. Nothing good comes from wave lengths heating your forehead, no matter how slight.
So you go ahead and keep getting those long wave lengths shot at your head if you want. I wager many people will now opt for the wrist despite all that information about wave lengths.
And I do hope you have a nice day.
I’m sorry you misunderstood me and felt the need to be defensive about what I said. I’m not a bit “cranky” about anything at all. It’s hard to get things like this across in text and even though I tried very hard to not come across as slagging on you, you still took it that way. That was not my intention.
And still you missed my points-
I did acknowledge that you were absolutely correct in saying that the forehead is not the only place a contact-less temperature reading can be obtained. Clearly you did not understand my points.
You were, through no fault of your own, belaboring a misconception. I explained why that was a misconception in order to keep it from spreading. That’s all I was doing and that is not a negative reflection on you.
At least seven people understood all of that enough to click the thumbs-up button on my explanation. They got it. If you look more carefully at what I said, you’ll get it too. I have every confidence you’re smart enough to understand what I said and take it in the spirit it was intended.
I’m not picking on you, you misunderstood something and I was helping you get past that misunderstanding. I’m not going to stop doing that simply because you took what I said the wrong way. Let’s try to take good-will as good will without the defensive reactions henceforth, shall we?
I got your point. I am not defensive. I acknowledged the error.
You didn’t get my point and felt compelled to reiterate what you had already explained ad nauseum.
So, defensive? This is over. I have a life to live.
If you got my point then why did you repeat your unreasonable error about temperature sensors and infrared EMS emissions? Quoting your reply to me —
“Wave lengths” are GOING to heat your forehead, the exact same wavelengths at a much, much greater intensity, every time you let the sun shine on your face.
NOTHING is being “shot at your head” from a temperature sensor, it’s picking up what YOU give off, it’s not giving off or “shooting” anything AT YOU.
It’s not hard to see why I would think you didn’t understand. This is the third time I’ve had to explain that hoping that you will understand if not due to the obvious validity of what I’m saying then at least with hope repetition will do the trick.
As far as “having a life to live” goes — You might consider some of that life well spent getting an actual education on this kind of topic so that you don’t waste your time embarrassing yourself in public with malarkey you read somewhere and didn’t realize it was hokum because you couldn’t be bothered to know better.
I tried to help you, now I’m just going to treat you like you’re treating me. “Do unto others’ is not some hokey pie-in-the-sky religious concept. You demonstrate to other people how you deserve to be treated by the way you treat them.
So ACTS’ factual rebuttal of false information is “cranky”?
That is a very interesting perspective.
My answer to Scott’s first question, which was posed to Bill, is “Absolutely not!” In fact, I have not flown commercially since the early days of TSA. After being subjected to invasive pat-down searches by bored, under-educated, overpaid TSA agents, I decided long ago that relinquishing my 4A-protected right to unreasonable search/seizure was unacceptable. I would rather sacrifice my technical career and become an isolated farmer than be subjected to such madness that will inevitably follow the statement, “Papers please!”
I have recently moved from FL to TN. I feel I don’t have that much longer to live and I wanted to be closer to family and friends and spend time doing things I love. The covid restrictions have made much of that impossible or unenjoyable. I do not want to live the balance of my life in this covid mess. Wearing a mask is not fun when you have heart and lung issues.
Personally, I really want to go back in time before the Tylenol tamper scare and do away with all the restrictions and paranoia we go through each and every day. Sorry, even the TSA. I used to enjoy flying and now I avoid it at all costs if it is possible. Tamper proof bottles and such that are not tamper proof and make it very hard for those with arthritis to open and I can go on and on.
As Bill said, I wish there was a place to live where we could truly be “FREE” again.
The problem is that Americans have been programmed to expect a risk free life and when something impinges on that they want the government to take care of it. We are the masters of our own demise.
You are right of course, but we need to start fighting back to change it or civilization will collapse.
