Another good speech, wherein President Trump reiterated that the Second Amendment ain’t going anywhere.
(Reconstituted from an earlier post which got lost during a system transfer. Apologies to those who lost their comments.)

Steve, how did you embed the video? I tried on my post, but it didn’t work.
I’ll pass along the answer Steve gave me on Friday afternoon: all you do is post the video URL on its own separate line. No coding, no brackets, just the URL.
Sounds crazy, I know, but it seems to work!
Thanks, but that did not wotk for mr.
Hm–that’s odd. It seems to be working for everyone else, though it doesn’t display in the editor as a video. Just the post itself.
Lydia is correct, it doesn’t show in the editor. Once you’ve submitted the post, it shows in the published page. This is because the editor does its own magic to interpret your desire, and in the final code surrounds it with all the hoorah necessary to embed the video.
For instance, for this post on Trump’s NRA speech, I put
“https://www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=n85kv6H19Co”
on a line by itself, with a blank line above and a blank line below (no double quotes as shown, and “(dot)” is “.” because you have to make the line an invalid URL or it will just embed the video in this comment.
Note that if you make any typos copying the URL, it won’t work because it doesn’t point to a valid video. I suppose it’s possible you’ve run into some kind of video that has built-in copyright protection that prevents copying it. I think I’ve seen that before, though it’s hard to tell given that this site has been a bit of a bumpy ride.
Hope that helps.
The move to the new server un-embedded all of my previous posts where I used Scott’s Method #2. All of them.
I tried Scott’s Method #3, and that does not work for me, either, after the server move.
Method #2 worked for quite awhile, but since the move to the new server, it goes not work.
When I have more time, I will try to problem solve this.
Thank you all for your input.
Sounds like a personal problem, to me 😉
Actually, you seem to have a strange issue going on that’s unique to your setup.
Nothing has changed on my end. I have been on Firefox since this site opened, and still am. I had been using Method #2 all this time, with no problem. The server move has undone everything.
At least my comments are going through, which is a good thing.
As I said, I’ll work on it. Maybe I need to now switch browsers.
Thanks, Steve (heart emoji placeholder).
The biggest problem of web page design is making it work not only on all browsers, but also on all operating systems and all the myriad ways people can have stuff connected up. It is a nightmare, and the reason why more flexible web programming methods have been developed (beyond simple HTML).
I use Firefox on Windows 8.1, for what it’s worth, but your security settings, browser plugins, firewall settings, and antivirus software can affect it too.
