Very often, some SJW will post a picture of Native Americans on my social media with a quote that says, “You’re all illegal.” Notwithstanding the fact that Native Americans had no laws as we understand them, my response is inevitably “Yeah, and how did that work out for you?” Traditional immigrants came here legally. I think that’s all we want. Come here legally. Maybe we need to make the process more efficient, more fair, but we need to have a working system. It cannot be “hey, everybody is invited with no restrictions.’ No country can survive that kind of policy. To get in you must be identified and known to be legal. Workers crossing the border can get green cards. Asylum seekers can seek asylum with legitimate demands, since 80% do not pass. But in the end, we will run out of room for everyone. At some point, we must control who gets in, or the county as we know it–what has made it great–will change. Immigrants must swear allegiance to America first and foremost, to the American ideas of Constitutional law and liberty. Otherwise, nope, they need to stay out. Period.
I think immigration Has to be a put on hold until we get a Congress that knows what they’re doing Or at least respect the rule of law equally
Milton Friedman had it right. You can have immigration or a welfare state. Just pick one.
If we have not given up on this idea, we need to. How many asylum seekers do we take in after they pass through 3, 4 or 5 countries? Where are the other moderately successful countries? Why is it always us? We are a nation of settlers. We didn’t have many immigrants until the late 1800’s and really the early 1900’s. Why does Saudi Arabia close its borders to its Moslem brothers and expect us to absorb a wildly incompatible philosophy? We have set an example for the world, and now the world can get off its proverbial butt and do some good, or admit that they are selfish scum that expect us to do all the work. I, as a second generation American on both sides of my family, would shut it all down until the rest of the world lives up to our example. Call me a xenophobe or a racist, I DON’T CARE.

Scott succinctly articulated the selfish world view of many people that the left manipulates to its own end. He essentially said, people have only one life to make themselves as happy as they can. This idea embodies the modern secular worldview that the left has been pumping out of the culture centers of America to the detriment of more traditional worldviews.
The traditional view (and correct view to experience happiness at any level in this life) is that you have one life in which to make yourself and the world better. If your goal is to make the world a better place, you would find what Bill had to say compelling. Fix your own country for the benefit of your neighbors and your children. If your life is all about you, you will not find happiness in anything even the most luxurious lifestyle available.
Perhaps the primary disconnect people in other countries who decide to become illegals experience is that they think that giving their children more stuff is “giving them a better life” and will make them happy. They see it as “doing it for my child” when their reasoning is flawed. Their child also will only find happiness in making himself and the world better. Which isn’t likely until he decides that doing what is right is more important than his personal comfort. Knowing in your heart that you have done what is right is the biggest comfort available to humans on earth.
BTW, “the power to do what is right” is the actual meaning of “liberty” that our Founding Fathers espoused. This was actually the original “American Dream”. America needs to return to that original dream.

It was never the business of the Government to provide for the welfare of its citizens beyond providing the law and order. How then is it the business of our government to provide anything for the welfare of non-citizens?

Here is what is wrong with this at the root. Democrats claim we should be doing this for humanitarian reasons (most certainly a lie) and that is called charity. If you created a foundation to raise funds from voluntary only sourced donations to sponsor and pay for everything the Democrats want to give away, I’d have no objection. I might even choose to donate what little I can afford.
But that is not what the Democrats want to do. They want the American taxpayer to foot the bill and that means millions of us being forced to provide this charity regardless of ability to pay or desire to do so.
On these grounds alone, this is immoral. But the Democrats have never been the party of charity or compassion for anything but their lust for money and political power. They have screwed millions of Black Americans through their welfare programs which were created for the purpose of and quite successfully trapped them in poverty. It could not be more clear that charity to these illegals is the last thing on their minds. It is about expanding their poverty-ridden vote farms.
At best, Mexico has been dumping their problem caused by their own leaking southern border. At worst, Mexico has been purposely allowing these illegals to cross their country into the US to subvert our politics by flooding our country with people that will vote for the Democrats whose policies are more to their liking.
Its not just Somalians and Nicaraguans and such. Californians escape the economic and political train wreck they created. And then immediately start pushing for the same government they created and then escaped in their new homes in NV, ID, AZ, CO, TX…
You had me hooked with the title: “Trump Builds Wall Made of Mexico”. That is the best possible way to force Mexico to pay for the wall, Hah! Eat that, open border advocates!
