Who gets to decide what you should know about what happened in “The Room Where It Happened”. President Trump doesn’t want you to read former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s new White House memoir, alleging national security concerns. Bolton’s lawyers say the book has been reviewed in the customary way, and approved. It’s already been printed (slated for release June 23), and is in the hands of reviewers, and European customers.

Should top government officials have to abide by non-disclosure agreements? Do we empower a president to clamp down on free speech to protect his own reputation, or reelection prospects? How can we know whether an administration’s objections constitute legitimate national security issues?

It’s a canary trap. The first time with a book. Different versions of the book were sent to people in the intelligence screening agencies and the people that leaked the juicy bits got fired and will face charges for leaking illegally.
People looking at the copies available ae saying why can’t I find the passage the MSM and Bolton are talking about? Wrong version folks. Bolton and the White House are acting so people take the bait.
Both sides are telling the truth about the real final book. It contains a heap of juicy comments and claims but will probably tell you they were White House canary traps in the week before they realised “the White House is BUGGED” and ripped all the wiring out.
I suspect Bolton knows these stories are fake designed to catch out deep starters. The big reveal about the canary trap phase in the White House is coming and Boltons stage one. Trump and Bolton are playing more 5D chess. Bolton will make millions, and keep it, as compensation for being Trump’s scary pet war hawk and punching bag. It also sets the Dumocrats off on a whole new red herring expedition. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canary_trap

Why would anyone give a nickel to Bolton? None of these people, including on a broader spectrum, BLM or any others, would do what they do if it was not profitable. Stop buying these books, despite your curiosity. Defund all of these leftists. Ignore them. Give your dollars to worthy causes instead, like Wounded Warriors, or billwhittle.com 🙂 . Remember, in a capitalist society, we vote with our dollars. If it sucks, give it no bucks.

Hard-hitting at the UN, Bolton intrigues me. That he couldn’t get along with Trump I find interesting. 500 pages? That’s a quiet weekend for me. Having spent more than a few evenings at cocktail parties with “Deep Staters” and “Donors”, I can see why DJT would oppose this and why JB would write it.
We should all take interest in the discord that DJT has wrought. And we should weigh his concerns seriously, despite the whinging of the media.
Then rewatch Caddyshack: DJT is Al Czervik to Chuck Schumer’s Judge Smails. DJT just keeps dropping his anchor into Smails’ sloop. Bolton is just one more member of the Bushwood Country Club. Let’s all vote with the caddies.
And can we address the ridiculous Hamilton reference?

Isn’t it interesting that Republicans impeached Bill Clinton and will
NEVER go that route again out of fear , which is another reason Hillary was so dangerous, she knew she was ‘unimpeachable’ . But Democrats show every indication of impeaching every Republican a few times a term Into the future, another case of feckless Republicans unilateral disarmament and refusal to fight or even understand that there is a fight.

They are not republicans, they are spelunkers. All they do well is cave.

Right, nobody I know (even those who car about politics) cares one whit about what Bolton might say. Never a topic of conversation. Which is why I think PDT is wrong to fight this at all.

Regarding “who would buy the book if Trump didn’t oppose it?” since it is a tell all by a guy who does not the President, I would suspect a lot of people that don’t like him would buy the book just throw their support his way.
Wasn’t the NSC guy that checked the book the brother of the Vindeman that featured in the impeachment hearings and was also suspected of having anti-Trump stances?
Could also be that Trump doesn’t like bad things said about him and he’s only fighting the book from basic standard character protection. Might be nothing illegal going on or anything really bad, but he’s got a spot from spilled food and he doesn’t want anyone commenting on it.

Also funny that it is a tell-all by a guy who doesn’t like the president, that also was not liked by most of his career by the left. They only like him when they thought he would help take down POTUS.

I once held a low level security clearance (secret) during my time working for NASA. I am still constrained by that clearance not to discuss details that are now 20 years obsolete. Are you saying that if I disclose those details and get away with it, I have no liability? Sounds like it to me.

It is very hard to believe that Bolton had less than a maximum possible security clearance. If so, he cannot properly publish relevant details unless and until all of his written material headed to publication has been COMPLETELY reviewed, edited, and found to pass the necessary review standards.

I do not know if that has actually been accomplished and neither do you. Yet Bolton’s words have been published AND distributed. Then you say because it is already published, that makes it OK that he broke the terms of his security clearance. Under current law, it is not OK until the security branch of government says it is OK.

It is a totally different discussion should government be allowed secrets at any level. In a rational world that fully protects intellectual property, I say it is not permissible. In the world we actually have, where both allies and enemies work 24/7 to steal and use our intellectual property without prior agreement or payment, it must be permissible.

Even I, as a lowly inventor, have the right to claim protection of my intellectual property from my government. This INCLUDES patents, copyright, AND trade secrets. This means that others CANNOT use my intellectual property without my PRIOR agreement, terms, and conditions. If they use it without my agreement, they do not escape liability. Even if they successfully replicate the end product of that property. In fact, that greatly increases their liability.

According to the JustSecurity.org site where the entire Restraining Order against Bolton is published, Ellen J. Knight the Senior NSC Original Classification Authority said this to John Bolton on March 27, 2020:
“I must reiterate that the prepublication review remains in process. Even after making the edits, you are not authorized to publish or further disseminate the manuscript or its content until expressly given clearance by me to do so.”
She NEVER gave written authorization to proceed. Bill and especially /Scott, READ the Restraining order against Bolton for a clearer picture of why Bolton is being sued!! It’s all there and it seriously damns Bolton. Bolton is a nasty piece of work!!
