For a while there, I was thinking Bill was going to say something to the effect of, “Jane, you ignorant slut!”
No,no,no… the “favor” was to help us understand all of the elements of the corrupt effort to railroad President Trump with respect to the election, the transition, & his early service as president. Crowdstrike was mentioned but it wasn’t the entire favor The “favor” was to have the Ukrainian prosecutors work with AG Barr to get to the bottom of the whole Russia Russia Russia deal. Ukraine has been trying to get relevant information into US hands concerning efforts Ukraine made in conjunction (or maybe “collusion”) with the DNC and the Clinton campaign aimed at defeating Trump and have been frustrated. They were denied Visas to bring the material over. They hired a US attorney to deliver material to the DOJ (unfortunately) in Manhattan which seems to have disappeared.
In addition, the president of the Ukraine brought up Rudy Guliani and hoped he would be involved, not President Trump.
Much later he spoke of Biden. It wasn’t Hunter Biden, specifically, that was that issue. It was his father, Joe, who extorted Ukraine to fire the prosecutor looking in to the company Hunter worked for (as well as Hunter) or lose a desperately needed Billon dollar loan guarantee.
Later, Joe Biden bragged about the episode. “I’ll be on a plane in six hours” Biden said. “If you haven’t fired that prosecutor by then, you aren’t getting the money! Son of a bitch, they fired him…”.
To infer that the “favor” was to investigate Biden is a gross mischaracerization of the call (and skips some 500 words). The MSM has mischaracterized this with the creative use of the ellipsis (…).
It is my understanding that there is an international treaty for the US and Ukraine to share information about ongoing investigations with regards to citizens between the two countries and that President Trump was following the Treaty by asking for information regarding an existing investigation in the US regarding the original hacking (by Russia?)of the Democratic servers which involved CROWDSTRIKE because they were the ones who originally investigated it. No Mention of Biden was made.
This has gone so far off the rails!!
Today Representative Schiff totally lied to the country in his opening statement by misstating what the phone call was and was all about AND NO ONE LAUGHED AT HIM, OR CALLED HIM OUT ON IT!!

Did the Lawfare group of pernicious dem lawyers make it all up that this came from a whistleblower? Could it be the Leftist LAWFARE group wrote and sculpted the pernicious complaint as another way to inflict damage on our president?

Other reports yesterday (and maybe earlier) mentioned that many staffers were listening to the conversation to make notes and such, and it wasn’t a secret or private phone call. The allegation is that the whistle-blower was not one of these people and heard what was reported third hand.
There are also reports that the Ukranians asked for Giuliani a few months ago to last year (I’m unclear) and have been trying to provide information to the US about (I think other) American misdeeds in the country.
I haven’t read the transcript so I don’t know what is said or implied toward previous conversations but some of what is being pulled out could be references to prior talks at lower levels or other overtures from as far back as last year.
To the point that Trump is doing this for political gain:
It is always gainful to the honest candidate for illegal behavior of an opposition candidate to be brought to light.
Because it is gainful to the Trump campaign doesn’t make Biden’s abuse of power any less illegal nor should any presidential candidate be immune from prosecution because it would be gainful to an incumbent from an opposing party.
Should the President of the US say “this corruption involves a candidate from the other party so I must ignore it as a conflict of interest”???
I also feel that it doesn’t help Trump: Biden isn’t the only Democrat candidate, and clearing a corrupt candidate only opens the field to stronger candidates.
To say that our President should Not investigate corruption because it is politically gainful is absurd and would be a dereliction of duty.
I think they’re crying “personal gain” while privately saying “what an idiot, he should have kept quiet about this until October next year. THAT’s when you reveal bad things about your opponent.”
Speaking about how diplomacy is almost always conducted behind closed doors, what about John Kerry, a private citizen, meeting with the leader of Iran
Not sure when this was recorded, but Sen Chris Murphy from CT is on record as telling President Zelensky, shortly after his election, that Ukraine had bipartisan support in the US Congress. If he wanted to keep it bipartisan he should make sure that investigation into Hunter Biden stay stopped. If all these three things, PDT, JB (as VEEP) and Sen Murphy were true, which is the most egregious?
But nowhere will you hear about Murphy.
I don’t remember about Murphy but there were 4 Dem senators that made a similar comment back in 2018 that are mentioned in news stories on some good sites.

I thought most of these things regarding Trump were less about having the charges stick than about damaging him and keeping their base fired up. After the devastation of Hillary’s defeat, the Russian thing kept them from crawling behind the sofa with their snuggie and binky. I think they know impeachment is going nowhere, but they will continue to try to cast doubt, prevent meaningful reforms etc with it. They’e also never gotten over Bill Clinton’s impeachment: they’ve been wanting to impeach a Republican ever since to remove that stigma and put it on the right. It’s all kabuki theatre. I do think they hoped to defeat Kavanaugh, though. Judges are serious business.
