ell us about your family dynamic growing up, specifically with your siblings (as you’ve already told us about your dad). Were you the middle child? Who was the brat? Who was mom’s favorite? Who was your favorite? Who got in the most trouble? That sort of thing

Jordan Peterson has said that the logical conclusion of “intersectionality” is individualism — the implication being that maybe instead of fighting this lunacy of pitting one micro-group against another, we should cheer “faster, please!” I don’t want to let myself take too much false hope from this perspective, since I doubt the Left will ever give up the perpetual grievance wars that are their means to power, but he does seem to make a good point and I wonder what you think about this idea, Bill.

The Thirty Meter Telescope spent 15 years jumping through environmental impact statements, permits, and all the other bureaucratic red tape to start building their telescope on the tallest mountain in the world, Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Now the project is being held up by a mob of locals that, having exhausted all legal means to stop the project, have now just simply blockaded the road leading up the mountain. The local government is paralyzed and the project will probably move to the Canary Islands.

Is mob rule our new normal? How would you deal with this?

A federal appeals court decided today that Electoral College electors are free to cast their vote to whomever they choose, and it is unconstitutional to bind them to the state’s popular vote or anything else.

Will the next election be decided by 538 electors, who are accountable to nobody, and have been freed to vote their conscience by the courts?

Quickies:

Beach Boys or Four Seasons?

Stones or Beatles?

Corvette or T-Bird?

Slinky or Hula Hoop? (Or, favorite toy in general?)
(And toy, not telescope or something with a redeeming quality.) 🙂

Chemistry or Biology?

Favorite female character in fiction/movies – besides Ripley?

Favorite male character in fiction/movies?

Favorite President, besides Washington, Lincoln or Jefferson?

Writing / Star Trek (Original) Question:
I have been re-watching Star Trek on Netflix. And many of the scripts hold up quite well. I have noticed that the episodes run 50+ minutes, up to 52 minutes. While more modern fare like Mad Men were routinely 42 minutes.
As a screen writer / director type what does that additional 8-10 minutes (15%) mean to the art of storytelling? Said the converse way, what does the elimination of that 10 minutes mean to the degradation of character development?

Bonus – Favorite ST/ original series episode.

You’ve said that you were a mess when you were young, and suffered bouts of depression and anxiety.

What steps did you take to gain control of your life, and become a successful businessman/role model to a group of scalliwags and layabouts?

Since governments and big tech corporations are now engaged in mass surveillance, and since quantum computers might make current encryption methods useless, do you foresee a return to old fashioned security measures like face to face meetings, snail mail encrypted via one-time pads, or even homing pigeons carrying SD cards?

It’s good that the Holocaust is well known in pop culture. When will there be movies or TV shows about the Gulag Archipelago, the Katyn Forest Massacre, the Estonian Forest Brothers, the Ukrainian Holodomor, the Cultural Revolution, the Cambodian Killing Fields, and the nightmarish horrors of North Korea? Surely these stories would draw eyeballs to movie & TV screens.

Should the GOP publicize the immediate results of tax cuts in a PSA campaign funded by tax dollars?

After all, leftists use gov’t funded PSAs to push stupid gov’t programs all the time, and the media won’t explain that getting a tax refund means you gave Uncle Sam an interest free loan.
