Bill, as you know from your knowledge of Islamic doctrine and writings, Jihadis not only want war, but fervently pray for war in order to fullfil their prophecy of World Conversion/Destruction/Rebirth. We can rightly infer that when Allah is satisfied with their efforts at converting the world to Islam, that he will bring about the end of the world, and will reward the Jihadi faithful with a Paradise occupied only by Muslims. What better way, in the minds of these extremists, than to encourage Allah’s hand by the biggest act of “conversion” possible: a huge war? Theirs is essentially a “death cult” on this plane of existence. It logically follows that it is of no consequence to them how “unbeliever” conversion/destruction comes about, but simply that it does come about as soon as possible in their doctrine of “submission to the word of Allah”.
So, yes, the Shia Iranians are provoking the allies of the (from the shi’ite point of view) apostate Sunni Saudis by making larger and larger acts of war to promote a massive military response, with the hope that the Iranians’ putative allies will line up with Iran against the allies of the Saudis. In the end, the Saudi wahabis are very likely hoping for and supporting the same reaction, thus achieving the same goal of the destruction of this current world, and ushering-in of a satisfied Allah’s new world.
I would not put it past the two competing Islamic doctrinal camps to be colluding in bringing about the downfall of their perceived spiritual and political enemies in various promotions of Islamic Jihad, including this latest incredibly-bold attack on the Saudi oil installations.
Then again, what can the Saudi allies (and ultimately the West) do, but to accommodate the Jihadist wet dreams of creating a big enough armed conflict so as to destroy the “unbelievers” even if the Jihadis themselves are consumed by this conflagration? The Jihadis win, no matter what happens, and will receive their appointed rewards from an utterly obeyed Allah.
Talk about a Catch 22 for the non-Islamic world! We must destroy ourselves in order to destroy Jihadi dreams, even as we blindly fulfill them.

I did not read it all but the jihadists are either ignorant of the real truth or simply tools in the hands of power hungry psychopaths. Either way the short term results will be devastating to many. I’m hopeful there will be true peace in the end.
True on only if Allah exists and reality is as the Islamic Jihadi fantasy suggests. Otherwise, they can be totally wiped from the face of the earth as if they were no more than an irritating infestation of bedbugs.

We have no responsibility for preserving one leaf of one twig of their psychotic religion. They must choose to join modern civilization and actually join it or face the consequences of annihilation. Assuming that we have the moral courage to do what it takes to preserve OUR lives.
Hi, Lionell — I’m not arguing for the truth of existence regarding Islamic politico-religious doctrine — only for the truth of the BELIEF in this system by 1.5 billion people. Yes, we can at this point overwhelm the powers that subscribe to Islam no problem. All I am saying is that we are not capable of wiping out completely that belief in what Mohammed of Mecca began, without also destroying ourselves, thus accomplishing, for the Jihadists, what they have aspired to all along: the destruction of this “earth of non-believers in Islam”, which is what they all crave. Whether or not they actually receive their 72 virgins (or raisins as the proper translation from the Arabic is purported to really be), they will have accomplished their goal. What their expectations of their conceived “afterlife” are is immaterial to non-Muslims, except for how this transition is brought about in *this* life, which they most reluctantly share with the non-believers regarding Islam.
If Iran, and the Islamic world including Pakistan achieve sufficient nuclear weapons capability, they will use it to achieve their supreme goal, as dictated by their Koran/Hadith-spawned ideology. They are not afraid to die; they are afraid NOT to die. And to them, non-Muslim eradication is the equivalent of “conversion” of unbelievers, since Islamics believe that ALL people were created by Allah as Muslims, but that evil forces have made apostates of all non-Muslims.

There is no religion that has the right to force itself upon the unwilling. I expect, at the very least, that they be tamed to the point they join 21 Century Civilization and act in a civilized manner.
Judaism was tamed by the Romans. We didn’t have to do it. Unfortunately, the Romans let Christianity loose on the earth.
It took the better part of 2000 years to tame Christianity but it was done. Now most Christians are members of the 21 Century and act in a civilized way.
Islam has yet to be tamed. Only a small fraction has joined the 21 century and I am not so sure about that. It is going to take a lot more work to tame Islam. The most pathological branch has been rather well trimmed and tamed. Unfortunately, the gross pathology is still abundant and has a tendency to revert to its barbarian roots. This is unacceptable and must be stopped by whatever means necessary.
Islam cannot be “tamed”, and still be Islam, or favored by “Allah”. To deviate from the Koran/Hadith in any substantial way by a Muslim is to become an apostate, and death the only remediation that “Allah” will accept re: that apostate. Our Judeo-Christian world still thinks that Islam can be reasoned-with. It cannot. That’s the long and the short of it.
Allah does not exist and their prophet was nothing but a perverted thug. They have the same choice they give us: submit or die. We seek life, they seek death. It is their choice.
We have NO responsibility for keeping them alive at the expense of our lives. They have to choose to join civilization to live. If they choose death, the responsibility is on their heads.
