United in grief

To all my friends at BW.com, although the 11th of September 2022 is the day Her late Majesty travels from Balmoral to Edinburgh, starting her journey to her final resting place at Windsor, I wanted to say that 9/11/2001 is not forgotten.

It has been noticeable that the vile statements coming from some of the usual neo-Marxist creatures of the left in the US regarding the late Queen’s passing have been used here by their leftist playmates in the UK to try to drive a wedge, they will not succeed.

They have the almighty gall to report these abuses as simply coming from “Americans”, rather than from American leftists. Some of the more egregious examples are reported more fully, like the CMU prof Uju Anya who tweeted, “I heard the chief monarch of a thieving and raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.” But as a whole the phenomena are just labelled “American”.

There have been some pretty nasty outbursts here too. One daft woman in Scotland has had to leave town after posting video of herself celebrating the Queen’s death with champagne. The reaction of the town has been robust, and physical.

I’ve seen much less reporting of the many, heartfelt and much appreciated expressions of condolence, and appreciation for the late Queen’s life and service coming from across the US, but I’d expect no better from our degraded modern media.

Elizabeth II had great respect and affection for the USA and appreciated the relationship between our nations. The day after the 9/11 attacks she ordered the playing of the Star Spangled Banner at the changing of the guard (the thumbnail of this post is from that event) and a service of remembrance at St Paul’s Cathedral on the 13th September. Back in 1958 she joined with Vice-President Nixon for the dedication of the American Chapel in St Paul’s Cathedral, commemorating the US servicemen based in the UK that gave their lives in WWII. She was well aware that, even for country like the UK with many very close ties across the world, our relationship with the US is pivotal. And we should always remember that her first Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, was the British son of an American mother.

GB News did a rather good piece tying up the 21st anniversary of 9/11 and the passing of the late Queen.

I just wanted to say that, on this 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, those terrible attacks are not forgotten, even while we get ready to say a final goodbye to an amazing woman.
