Voter Turnout Early on Election Day

I and my family went to our polling place a little after 1 PM as is our usual habit.  This avoids the crowds who vote before work, vote during morning break and vote during lunch hour.  As usual we walked right in with a minimal wait and voted.  By the time we finished and were ready to go the line was already out the door.  That’s never happened before.

As I was leaving I asked one of the people working the polling site how turnout was going.  He said that it had been the most he’s ever seen in 20 years working at polling sites.  He further related that they had been given 11,000 ballots and they were already half gone so they had called for more to be delivered because the really heavy turnout time is after people get off work until the polls closed.  It was the judgement of the poll workers that they didn’t have enough ballots at the rate things were going.

This is just my little polling site out in the country, not a major metro area.  A heavy turnout is always a good omen for Republicans.  We’ll see what we will see, this is just my anecdotal experience at my polling site.

Two of my buddies are coming over tonight to watch the returns as they roll in.  We are all of the opinion that this will either be the vote that saves America, or dooms it.  Either way we want to be witnesses to what happens.
